How to unlock 2016-19 Chevy / GM Passive Entry Doors

If the battery of your 2016 Chevrolet Malibu is dead, you may not be able to use they keyless entry system to unlock the doors. However, you can still gain access to your car by using the physical key that is included in your key fob.
Here are the steps to unlock your 2016 Chevrolet Malibu door when the battery is dead:
1. Locate the physical key in your key fob. There should be a button on the back of the fob that releases the key.
2. Insert the key into the driver's side door lock and turn it to the left. This should unlock the driver's side door.
3. Once the driver's side door is open, you can manually unlock the other doors from the inside. Look for the door lock knob on each door and pull it up to unlock the door.
Note that if your Malibu has a keyless ignition system, you may not be able to start the car without a working battery. In that case, you may need to jump-start the battery or replace it before you can drive the car.

@@Ricky199377 I assume you are speaking of the key Fob's Battery. But to start the car if the key battery dies most GM vehicles ask that you place the key in the cup holder. The car should recognize the magnet in the Fob to start the vehicle with passive keys. But always refer to your vehicle's Manual.

I have a 2010 impala, the key will not work to open the driver side door. Any ideas as to what is wrong?

No it was early in the morning no one was there yet. This video was NOT intended for the general public. I made it for a customer I sold a few years ago when the car was first released. I thought it would help others leaving it up on TH-cam. I guess seem to help. This is the only reason its still up.
How do you get cover back over the key entry properly after removing it?
Currently having this issue.. my cover is not on properly , I thinks it's stuck
Pull & hold the door handle to allow space for the cover/cap and navigate back into place. Release handle, you are all set!

My 2011 locks the door over and over and over I can unlock it to get my son from the back car seat and by the time I walk around the car it lock again
What about the rear door how can you open that? If you can open from outside or inside

pull and hold the handle while pulling on the cover. This should release the cover. If you still hold the handle you can make adjustments to the cover placement.

Great video, I tried to put it back on but it’s not going in right. Now the key won’t even remove the piece for me to try again, and I think it’s because when I try to lock the door it just unlock again because of it. What can I do?
Pull on the handle and hold the out extended the car while placing the cap back into place. That will give you enough space for the anchor to the cap to go back in the door handle spacing

They should've left a keyhole in the first place, instead of covering it up.
Now what if the push button start doesn't work, there should be a spare spot where you could start the vehicle.

Excellent on how to get in with “dead” key fob. Now, how do I “start” the car. Getting in is no use unless I can start the car.

how do you unlock from inside with a dead battery 2018 traverse. My neighbor siad car died from dead battery while driving due to bad alternator and he was trapped inside - could not unlock from inside.
If you pull on the handle from inside twice it will unlock the door.
Just woke my wife up to use her key. Then I called pop-a-lock told them I took care of it. Saved myself $60 dollars... Thanks video!!

I usually don't respond about this 4 years video. But its funny that you say that because this video was NOT intended for the general public. I made it for a customer I sold a few years ago when the car was first released. I guess I should take it down at this point I thought it helped other people but its seems to only attract negative comments these days. The video is real, the car is real, & I am still alive. Answering your question thought, I didn't need to show someone how to put a key in a key hole.
