My tactic: When in doubt get as much intelligence as you can! Trainer and Surgery are the most broken skills in the entire game! You can raise elite armies from scratch without a single fight in just a few days of you and all your companions have the trainer skill (it's important that you have it, too because you need more lvls than the troops you train for it to count). Surgery on the other hand makes even huge losses in sieges only minor inconveniences since your own and your allies' troops will recharge soon after without any cost!

@shadowyeager The problem I have woth that is thay their leveling is garbage. You'll have to invest in fighting skills to level them up reliably and even then the player will just be better in the end. If it was only for the surgery I'd agree, but the fact that trainer is a thing makes me want to get intelligence as high as possible with a lvl30+ character.
I play normal damage and good ai with 100 swad knights for field battles. Ive taken on 400 and lost about 5 to 10 with a rough dozen wounded. No sweat man, just dont fight in the mountains

Late tip: when speeding up the game you should regularly stop or slow down a minute to ensure it is still safe to travel for those with a small army it can be the change between life and death
That depends on what kind of enemies you have, and your own number, as well as the quality of your troops. If you have like 15 nord recruits, I wouldn't even use that speed feature at all, you're just gonna get merc'd by some sea raiders. If you've got like 50 nord recruits, no bandits are gonna touch you really, so unless you've made enemies with a nation, I think you're good.
I think my favorite thing to do in the early game is getting an archery build and circle large stacks of bandits and deserters and kill them from a distance it is such an overpowered strat. You get so much renown and money when you do it too, I am 35 days into my current campaign and I already have ~800 renown and 60k Denars from soloing large bandit stacks and going to every tournament, which gives you 18 renown each time you win. Also, it is important to solo bandits early game because you can fight 3-6 times a day if you are in a heavily populated bandit area and that much fighting has negative morale effects on your party (if you have one). Also, since you are solo you don't have to worry about getting caught in unfavorable positions because you have +8 map movement.

stealing cattle and selling the beef is a low infamy way of getting decent money early on. Hell just look at the first 10 minutes of the any% speedruns of this game and you'll see how much time it saves to your average start.
I know it’s not popular but I agree about picking individual/leader skills for your main and leaving the party skills to the party. I understand the benefits of INT maxing and how powerful it is but from a RP perspective I prefer STR/CHA/AGI.

He mentions it in the video. Press the following: 2, f1, f1, 1, f1, f1, f2, f1, 3, f1, f2. And then start encircling the enemy with your cavalry. I've smashed 180 strength armies with only 80 dudes and no casualties in perisno with that.
Take prisoner management, powerstrike and powerdraw. Purchase the best mace you can afford. Don't recruit any units. Circle sea raiders until they run out of ammo. Knock them all out (this can take time). Keep what you want and sell prisoners/loot. Repeat until you save 2500-10000 denars (don't buy armor/weapons). Buy enterprises until you earn 1500 or so a week. Then start taking trainer and leadership. Recruit tons of units and you are on your way. You will gain massive renown and level quickly.
A good one for giving orders is making your companions (especially when you get 10+) charge forward and keeping the rest of your army back, this helps get them XP
I normally prefer to send calvary (if i have them) to harass and distract my enemy so that i can get a proper formation set up. I usually recall them if they survive to act as reserves.
Instead of being combat based, focus on leadership and medical! - Later on that saves your ass, when you have massive battles (As you can't avoid when close to wiping out factions). And having the majority being able to recover helps! then that 400-500 stack battle with 8 enemy lords present becomes so much more manageable!
as someone whom uses only infantry, since cav is way too easy, i can definetly say yeah orders are super useful, especially when you got 50+ men, i usually get my polearm people on another division, since i don't want them in the front, i usually flank with them or just let them protect my crossbowmen. In the heat of battle enemy cav can get to them and it's pretty nasty so always keep some support near. As for the actual infantry, they're going in front of the crossbows, since crossbows do not have skirmish mode like in tw, and they're pretty clumsy so usually infantry goes on flat ground, now if you have a lot of infantry, they're going to make a massive wall, and if you're fighting against cav or swarms of enemies, then it's good to make them stand closer to eachother, since they can better brace for the impact, and you having a bit less casualties. There, a bit more of information for the noobies whom are too poor to buy bannerlord, you're going to have a ton of fun here too trust me. The game even works on a potato

Use your horse movement to aim, pick a few angles you like to shoot at, and then just ride around, shoot only at enemies that are at those angles, if you are riding someone head on, instead of attempting a shot from head on, aim to your left back side and pass through the enemy, and shoot him from the back when you see his open backside. Horse archers are devastating in game but they need to be supported with heavy cavalry, and need to be managed. Never swear fealty to any lord until you're done with building a meaningful warband with proper troops. Spend money on some villages, extremely important if you're playing khergit, when a village has a high enough rrlation with you, they can peovide you with high tier units from the get go. With recruiting price as well
Half either vaegir marksmen or rhodok marksmen, half knights. Set up on a hill and rain down death then send out the Calvary to clean up. Works every time
Power draw 10 and trainer 10 is all I use.. I can take out 60 - 100 enemy’s in a castle siege/defence as each arrow hits 68 damage.. of course depending on the type of castle and my accuracy haha. And trainer of course because gotta train them troops quick to put in garrisons at my castles and towns
Cool vid and I must say I used a very similar tactic when positioning my troops only difference that I do is that I usually put my Calvary on the flanks and don't engage until my Calvary are needed to reinforce either the Infantry or archers. I do this for the most part because sometimes the AI will be smart and will try going around my infantry and hitting my archers. Also my tip for new players if you want decent equipment without having to buy it Farm sea Raiders they dropped pretty decent chainmail and Helms

I play separately, I don't use Infantry at all really on the battlefield. I have in front a line In wide spacing good ranged units, with a line of cavalry wide spacing able to charge at anyone who thinks they can kill the archers, as cavalry Is strong on and off horse. (I prefer to use Vagir or Saranid cavalry)
also I would add In the focus on Ranged and cavalry over Infantry, having Infantry merely for garrison duty as cavalry dismounted is formidable enough to operate Infantry roles. And dedicated Infantry Is a waste of wages for what would just have them be uselessly killed due to lack of dexterity
Infantry in medieval warfare has a single purpose, hold a line for the army and charge on broken enemies. The real damage is done with archery and cavalry. Only Nords have meaningful infantry in the game. And I noticed some people don't understand Khergit units. They just charge with horse archers and be surprised when they die like flies. Khergits are the only faction that doesn't fight in a conventional stlyle, they don't have any lines because they have no infantrymen
@Salmon_exec I'm currently playing an all Khergit campaign, I think the trick is creating the fundementals before actually starting to fight. I spent at least 60 days almost only with trading, village quests and minor fights. Got two Khergit villages with 40+ relations, became a vassal of Sanjar Khan and currently am demolishing armies. Still relatively low renown but since I started to fight for real, I'm getting results. There was an extremely long war against Swadia, and they're really the most durable on a fight We had a war with Sarranids too, I basically crushed every sarranid army I got with about 35 lancers, 15 veteran horse archers and about 10 horsemen with properly skilled Lezalit, Firentis, Jeremus, Artimennar, Borcha, Rolf and Bahestur. Giving nomad bows to companions and making them horse archers is crazy powerful.
@Salmon_exec You should always keep your lancer ratio in a balance. almost 2/3 of the army must be cavalry. Horse archers have pathetic AI in game, they can't be trusted to win a war by themselves. They actually fixed it a bit in Bannerlord and people are now complaining about Khuzait bing OP.

Int skills gain boost of +1 for every 4 point in that skill but only for the player character, I always put surgery on me to get the bonus Trainer is the only skill that stacks, the more you have on everyone, the better
Loads of people are saying do surgery or medical, but it’s a completa waste- just hire the npc jeremus, he has like 4 in all medicine at lvl 1 when you hire him
Quite an uptight bugger though. Can loose morale in pundering villages and all. But an exceptional companion. He doesn't like Matheld, my mist have nordic companion. But when I play khergit or Swadian, he's essential. Firentis, Jeremus, Artimanner, Borcha and Lezalit tend to be essential ones. Every player should have at least three of these guys in any companion. Nizar, Matheld, Bahestur , Rolf are very good additions. Baheshtur is a must have if you're a horse archery character. Companions can be very powerful horse archers by the way. Marnid, Klethi, Deshavi are waste of time whenever I make a save game
M Bayrak Klethi makes a good scout, Deshavi is a decent archer and Marnid can specialise to be anything. Him, Alayen, Jeremus, Borcha and Ymira are the best.
It's not so bad, but you also need points in combat traits. But then again, if you have decent companions that already hard-rock butcher and healer, you can command them in fights and sit in the back line while enjoying the view
If your not going to be the core fighter It's fine - that move Is more for If you are going to become a king, as It punishes you less when your forced to diversify when you betray your faction
Lining the infantry in front of the archers than getting cav in to follow you I already do, I charge behind the enemy messing them up ahead of time that way I can make they're Lance using horse men too miss my infantry than they get stuck and butchered

I love mount and blade war band and have around 550 hours in the game but I can't stand using horses or archery when I was learning how to play the game everyone told me to use a horse and a lance or to stay back and let your troops do the work. Is this odd?
It still helps to have those skills for when a companion gets knocked out. Personally I have jeresmus as my main healer but also have some backup companions with similar healing stats

Salmon_exec Charisma is not really important though- just have high renown and you are set.

Get 50 Swadian Knights, that way you can take on armies 4 times bigger than yours and win every time.
You can also do that with decent tactics and a mixed army. It's more fun that way, too.

Make an chalvary only army and just tell them to charge to the enemy. And succes.

Literally just been playing warband, I have never realized the backspace brought up a menu. I thought that was only in a fire and sword mod I found.

Giving nomad bows to companions and making them horse archers is crazy powerful.
@Salmon_exec You should always keep your lancer ratio in a balance. almost 2/3 of the army must be cavalry. Horse archers have pathetic AI in game, they can't be trusted to win a war by themselves.
They actually fixed it a bit in Bannerlord and people are now complaining about Khuzait bing OP.

Edit: I figured out how to do orders, I’ve sunk so many hours into this game without knowing orders existed, all I gotta do is press right on the D-Pad and the menu pops up
if you did not know too many horses slows you down
Int skills gain boost of +1 for every 4 point in that skill but only for the player character, I always put surgery on me to get the bonus
Trainer is the only skill that stacks, the more you have on everyone, the better

Loads of people are saying do surgery or medical, but it’s a completa waste- just hire the npc jeremus, he has like 4 in all medicine at lvl 1 when you hire him
Quite an uptight bugger though. Can loose morale in pundering villages and all. But an exceptional companion.
He doesn't like Matheld, my mist have nordic companion. But when I play khergit or Swadian, he's essential.
Firentis, Jeremus, Artimanner, Borcha and Lezalit tend to be essential ones. Every player should have at least three of these guys in any companion.
Nizar, Matheld, Bahestur , Rolf are very good additions. Baheshtur is a must have if you're a horse archery character.
Companions can be very powerful horse archers by the way.
Marnid, Klethi, Deshavi are waste of time whenever I make a save game
M Bayrak Klethi makes a good scout, Deshavi is a decent archer and Marnid can specialise to be anything. Him, Alayen, Jeremus, Borcha and Ymira are the best.

It's not so bad, but you also need points in combat traits. But then again, if you have decent companions that already hard-rock butcher and healer, you can command them in fights and sit in the back line while enjoying the view
If your not going to be the core fighter It's fine - that move Is more for If you are going to become a king, as It punishes you less when your forced to diversify when you betray your faction

Lining the infantry in front of the archers than getting cav in to follow you I already do, I charge behind the enemy messing them up ahead of time that way I can make they're Lance using horse men too miss my infantry than they get stuck and butchered
You can do multiple saves so you can always play back if you suck
So the first tip is basically do what they did in braveheart

In early game a one handes long sword is good. Tho you also need an hunting bow and barbed arrows
Salmon_exec No you recruit your companions and go around doing tournaments. Then get good equipment and kill a tonne of sea raiders.
i go for charisma leadership and intel for persuasion then convince other lords to join me i made lord that owned 2 town and castle join me once

I always start in Nord lands then recruit Nord Bois and destroy sea raiders
I love mount and blade war band and have around 550 hours in the game but I can't stand using horses or archery when I was learning how to play the game everyone told me to use a horse and a lance or to stay back and let your troops do the work. Is this odd?
Yes it is odd. Horse archery is one of the best ways of making pitch battles by the way

It still helps to have those skills for when a companion gets knocked out. Personally I have jeresmus as my main healer but also have some backup companions with similar healing stats
