I got the titan based off your advice last year, it sits lower, has more channels, and has been awesome. Mounting kit to stock 150 roof rails is the LRS34 kit. Thanks for the video.

I know this is an old video but I stumbled across it in looking for my own answers. I have a NW Pajero that had the Rola Titan attached to the factory roof rails. The day I fitted the Titan I didn't hear any increase in noise whatsoever, it was brilliant. And it was working just fine for two years or so until recently when years of vibrations on corrugated tracks finely took its toll on the factory plastic roof rails, leading me to look for a more robust solution.
If Rola had a back-bone type system to fit my Pajero, like I hear they do now for other makes, I would have happily gone with them. However, as they didn't Rhino-rack or Frontrunner were the only alternatives, with the latter harder to get in Perth without being messed around and extorted on price. In contrast, Rhino still extorts but not to the same tune, and was readily available.
Now while the Rhino platform with the back-bone system is an aesthetically very pleasing solution, and on the Pajero mount doesn't appear to have the issues Tyler Thompson and Ronny Dahl fairly caution about, it does make a hell of a lot more noise that my previous Titan did. Seriously, heaps more. From about 45-50km/h it starts to hum and becomes an annoyance till about 85km/h when the cumulative effects of the Pajero's own intrinsic noise makers and the All-terrain tyres compete. Also, at the aforementioned lower speeds, a strong cross wind brings another noise dynamic of its own to the table.
I contacted the company from where I bought the system and had it fitted (really great service, so not going to bag them out) and informed them of my concern about the noise (which I noticed immediately after leaving the store) and they suggested that the grooves underneath the rack that will take accessory attachments (like for light-bars etc, I expect) and provided me with some plastic strips that fit into the track as a possible solution. As I only got the strips two days ago and it hasn't stopped raining here, I'm yet to fit them so can't report back the effect. However, I was watching another video which had a Pajero with the Rhino system fitted and noted that their one appears to have some kind of factory cover that screws up underneath (th-cam.com/video/34rsBC383XE/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=SeagullsontheRun @ 3:33 minutes), so I don't really know what to make of the difference. But if this fellow finds his quiet and I don't then there may be something to what the fitter has suggested. However, after spending $2300 on an item Rhino probably would like its customers to recommend, I find I can't... hence my caution to those in the market.
To be fair, I helped a mate fit his Rhino back-bone system to his 150 Pajero a couple of years ago and was really impressed with how quiet his is - though his VX(?)150 is a much quieter and probably better noise insulated vehicle than my otherwise great Pajero, I baulked at the cost back then, so took (not withstanding the plastic roof-rail issue) the cheaper and much, much quieter Titan option.
Frankly, I don't know if I'm being unreasonable, but I'd have thought at this price point for Rhino, I shouldn't really be suffering buyer's dissonance over noise issues 🤔🤔🤔

I was looking for Rola vs rhino. I watched your Rola installation video. The cons for both is they have a different offroad and on road payload. Offroad is like 33% less. Thanks bro!

Thanks for that mate! Just started watching your stuff and enjoying the videos, right now I’m tossing up the new ARB Base rack for my 150 or if I should go the rola that you’re suggesting, even this Rhino, they all look like they have pros and cons!
Thanks for your help too with the videos! I’m a New 150 owner so I’ll take all the knowledge I can get !!

I have the same Rhino rack platform with backbone on my Prado 150. I don’t have any wind noise. I have since loaded it up with a 2.5m awning, a few lights and a gas bottle bracket. I’m very happy with it. What I really want to know is what sort of load can I put on it? The Prado owners manual says 80kg for the roof. OK then, is that just for an on-road rating or is there a lesser off-road rating? Of course you have to take into account the weight of the rack. According to the Rhino website it’s 34 kg. And then there’s the static load rating...

Is it possible to make a rola titan tray fit to a rhino backbone mount?

Is the fact that this rack is mounted using pop rivets in the thin roof metal a concern? Im hesitant about its strength and have heard stories about this sort of thing actually happening.

There is some big debates going on in a lot of 4wd communitys at the moment with regards to the Rhino off-road load ratings on there racks.

Be sure to checkout the video Ronny Dahl made on the roof rack off-road capacity, it's quite low on the Rhino racks

Do Rhino bits fit on the Titan trays? I have the Rhino Platform on factory roof rails and don't get noticeable wind noise.
