Mate I ran a rhino tradie backbone on my Jeep and it was awesome…. Just remember to Retorque the backbone after some trips on corrugated roads …. I did the great central to Alice and back after putting it on ,when I got home the rack was loose but all good . Now sold the Jeep to set up another one the gladiator sill think whether to put a rack on ….
Nice one Matty, I’ve been running a Rhino Platform rack for over 8 years now. I love it! Even after Tyler and Ronny had there rants on them and the 4x4 community turned on Rhino Racks. I’ve had mine loaded up and never had an issue. Just a little tip… before putting everything on, make sure your channel nuts and tie down points are in place before you block your channels with other items. Gus is looking good mate. Keep well 👍🏼
Great Choice of Awning, one of the best on the market, square at the rear for more protection and lights are good ones that suit the rack, neat & tidy. Great Job.
Personal preference, but I would mount the trax the long way near the rear tire opposite of the awning. If your bogged you will have to go to both sides in order to get them off. Maybe not, eitheway looks cool man
No doubt this is all wired up now lol. But u should run a trailor core cable to a junction box up on the roof rack, then run ur lights from in that. That way if u wanna add lights remove lights all u need to do is run light wires to ur junction box, all the switches n fuses will be left in place in the car. Saves having to rewire stuff again. Anyway nice rack cant go past a platform rack.
Nice video and hello from the States where its raining and cold! I have the original version Rhino Rack which did not have the easy wiring setup. All good...still love it!
The Rhino rack is great for accessories and at its price point it beats the front runner rack imo. Also love the look of them too, keen to hear your thoughts on having a 270 in a later vid
100% agree mate! For those reasons I was sold on the Rhino from very early in the piece. Very happy I went with it. I haven’t actually even had the awning out yet so I’m excited to get into that myself!
Looking cool up there on the roof. I'm currently fitting my rtt on the new flat platform rack with 270 awning lights and shower tent. All these accessories bolt onto the mounting groves on the tent so they seal the annoying water drips between the roof and the awning. All OCAM gear. Will see how it performs over time. The cost? Way good!
If I had a nickel for every time I blew off my list for the day to watch someone else do theirs, I’d have enough money to pay someone else to do it for me 😂 thanks for watching mate!
Looking forward to seeing the awning and how the quick release brackets go with the shovel etc. Nice to see you got what you wanted, makes such a difference for efficiency when packing and unpacking👍
Looking good mate. Hopefully be upgrading my rack some time this year as well. Looking at something like the backbone system but hopefully more budget. I don't carry much up there just my awning, small tool box, solar panel and shovel mostly.
I’ve got a rhino platform and backbone on my Everest and love it👍 my only gripe would be for some of the black coating flaking off the platform. It’s nearly 5 years old and going strong 💪
Love Rhino gear, nothing compare visualy and easy to use wise. Not sure how i feel about it being soo high off the roof but? Anyway to lower it closer at all?
nice one mate, I'm looking at almost the same rack set up except a different awning - so looking fwd to seeing how it goes and what you think of the finished setup.
absolutely love the look of the rhino gear and accessories but since the whole off road weight rating stuff came out I wonder if they fixed it cause to only be able to load 30ish kgs offload doesn't leave you much after 270 awning and max traxx
This system does not have an off-road reduction in weight rating. Its gutter mounted rather than those pop riveted rails which are the problem. Rhino gives the GU a 150 kg rating and states you just remove weight of roof rack (43 kg) and you are left with 107 kg for both on and off road. I have also heard that the GU roof gutters are good for 200 kg which would leave 153 kg load.
@@angelotsi849 sweet thanks heaps legend, I’ve been wondering why people still use it, cheers for getting back to me now I know how I’m gonna be mounting mine
Another point of view: the backbone stops you from being able to get your arm under the rack. Something I regularly do with my Ocam flat alloy rack. Whether it be washing the roof or feeding ratchet straps and tie down through the bars. They do look good but I'm glad I don't have them
I will be using the tie down points that screw into to rack so I’m not worried about wrapping straps around and under - a very big reason why I wanted this style rack. The panels have great spacing so high pressure from the top will be thorough. I didn’t use my previous rack in those ways so I’m confident that I will not be in the slightest disappointed.

Love the video. And you look very happy geeking out on the roof rack!
Like a puppy with a ball 😂
Your giving me inspiration to get rid of the kings rack (rusting out) love the look of the rhino rack
It’s a big amount of money - but I certainly back the purchase in as a worthwhile investment!
Looks so much cleaner, nice work

I agree mate!

Not a bad idea mate. Something to consider if I end up adding more to it.
Look forward to the awning review I recently purchased the 270 heavy duty
Very nice bit of kit. Nice to freshen up and get what you want finished up. Keen to see the awning flick. Enjoy mate.
Nice video and hello from the States where its raining and cold! I have the original version Rhino Rack which did not have the easy wiring setup. All good...still love it!
We installed the Rhino Rack Pioneer Plaform on your Jeep Wrangler. Now we're looking for a good 270 freestanding awning to attach.
I got the rhino rack backbone system / platform on my Rubicon. Absolutely loves it.
You are right about how easy it is to fit to the vehicle but any accessories as well. Good job any great vid mate
I didn’t actually realise how much so until making the purchase and delving into it all 😄
Looks very streamlined now and that awning will be the ducks nuts i reckon..
Looks super neat in person to mate.
I agree! Keen to play with the awning!

I haven’t actually even had the awning out yet so I’m excited to get into that myself!
That rack looks awesome, Matt!
And when you opened that awning, I got a little weak in the knees.
I’m stoked for you.

Great clip man looking forward to the awning one ,
Me too mate! I haven’t had it out for a good play yet!
I’m meant to be adjusting my fridge slider today. I’ll watch this instead. Same vibe, slightly less productive on my side.
If I had a nickel for every time I blew off my list for the day to watch someone else do theirs, I’d have enough money to pay someone else to do it for me 😂 thanks for watching mate!

Great Video mate! I like your work lights, they look great!
Thanks mate!
Great video I'm in the same boat as you
Looks great 👍
Looks fantastic matt
Thanks Podge!

bloody mint looking setup on the roof there mate, keen for the next video on thew awning! :)
Thanks mate! I’m very happy. Yeah I’m keen to get the awning out myself!
I’ve got a rhino platform and backbone on my Everest and love it👍 my only gripe would be for some of the black coating flaking off the platform. It’s nearly 5 years old and going strong 💪
Nice upgrade mate 🤠👍👍
Love the new upgrades on Gus! Looks great
Look forward to the next video :)

Yeah it’s a bit of a bummer but not enough to put me off. Still happy.

Hope you get some satisfaction out of the new rack legend 👏🏻
Thanks mate me too!
Very interesting cobber I like these add on mods vids.. I’ve got a rhino rack on my highlux as well and love it 👍🏼
Nothing is more satisfying then a product that actually works. Ahhahaha. Rhino looks the good big fella!
Mate satisfaction levels are through the roof 😂 after that old bloody thing I had on there. Thanks man I appreciate that!
Looks good mate
Thanks Steve!
How good is it Brother when your fitting new gear.
Looks mint hey. Makes a difference for sure. 👌
Hi mate nice to get some new parts now and then but we’re do you run your wires up to the roof rack too thanks
It is mate! So the wiring is cased inside conduit and ran up the left side behind the snorkel.
whats your offload weight rating on the rhino rack

Looks great. I’m saving up for a rhino platform too! What area are you at in the outro? Kind looks like a place near Bridgetown
Whats the Offroad Dynamic Load rating of the Rack?
Roof rating - rack weight. Rhino says GU roof is 150kg - 43kg = 107kg. No off road limit.
Have seen dozens of these fail on youtube, a bit of weight, rough road and the rivets pull out. See Tyler Thompson
I saw. I’m confident it will be fine for my application.
That rack isnt riveted to the roof. It uses the patrols gutters, by far the best roof mounting system when compared to todays garbage dual cabs 😂
@@krump743 yeah it couldn’t be any stronger mounted to the gutter.
@@westralianoffroad Right on, it does look good. cheers
Any wind noise difference?
A little yeah. Not enough to bother me though.
ohh i dunno. it really makes the patrol look different I like the old ARB 300kg racks . hang on let's see . 📹🛻😎🤙
yeah very true on the financial side of things ! big factor !
wow! the 270 awning is very cool !
solar panel is good !
Unfortunately mine wasn’t the ARB version it was just a cheap heavy imitation so it was very underwhelming.
