  • After a two month wait my Rhino-Rack Backbone and Pioneer platform arrived, so I set off to pick them up and install on my Prado 150.
    I also add some camp lights to the side of the rack and a light bar to the front.

    Would love to see how you ran your wiring harness from the engine bay to the rhino rack. Maybe another video? Cheers

      Hey mate cheers for the question, I’ll put a short video up tonight that I hope helps unfortunately I’m a bit under the pump coming into Christmas but there will be a full detailed video coming in the new year.

    Nice Pioneer rack & Backbone system addition to the Prado. Looks awesome and functional. Rhino doesn't make the Backbone for my SUV. I may attempt to mod one of the Backbone kit. When you get the chance can you provide some measurements? Would like to know the approximate location of the base (3) that are bolted to the roof of your Prado. Might be able to make it fit my SUV. Thnx

    this is awesome mate. I've got a Prado 120. Wanted to get the exact same setup. This really helps

      @@JS_Adventure By the way - I've got thee sunroof on my prado as well. What's the platform size you went with?

    • @JS_Adventure
      @JS_Adventure  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I went with the 2128x1236 as I thought I could always use the extra room. It completely covers the sunroof but for the amount of times we use the sunroof I’m happy to have it covered

    Nice video… do you reckon the backbone gets the tray seated lower than installing on the original rails?
    I’m looking for something lower so my car can fit my garage.

    • @JS_Adventure
      @JS_Adventure  ปีที่แล้ว

      If I can remember correctly the backbone and pioneer rack almost the exact same height as the standard rails, as the backbone sits tucked in the rack to allow it to be as low as possible

    Awesome video mate. What size did you go? The 1900ish one or 2130ish one? Tring to get a gauge for my set up

      Cheers mate! 🍻 Went for the 2130ish as my thinking was the bigger the rack the more I can put up there in the future and i can’t complain one bit with it!

    Hey there, quick question: How does the family feel with the sunroof covered now? Did you all get used to it? I'm thinking of doing it but the comment is "It will cover the sunroof" 🙂

    • @JS_Adventure
      @JS_Adventure  ปีที่แล้ว

      We’ve never really used the sunroof and haven’t missed it at all. To be honest you still get a bit of light but we have found if we are using it, it’s simply just to keep fresh air in.

    Hi
    What kind of bull bar in your Kakadu
    Because ARB said if you put the bull bar the sensor behind the grill might not work
    So I am looking for bull bar for 2011 Kakadu
    And can you tell me the size of the rack please
    Thanks

    • @JS_Adventure
      @JS_Adventure  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bullbar is an early arb kdss bar and scrub/side step. All sensors are working but I think they have changed there design since then. Front mount camera is pretty much useless with bullbar though. The rhino rack is a 2128x1236

    Can’t find the stedi bracket that the same like you have
    I like the light bar that between pioneer rack and roof.
    How do you find the bracket?
    I didn’t see in their website
    Thanks

    • @JS_Adventure
      @JS_Adventure  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No problem with the bracket. The only reason I got it was because I wanted it tucked between the rack and roof and not protruding out.
      Looks like there out of stock until the 12th but here’s a link:

    You glossed over the most confusing part...the installation of the rack to the backbone.
    The backbone came with the channel nuts, but the platform came with the small square with a bolt on the to attach the rack to the backbone. However, the small square with the bold is too small for the underbar channel which allows the nut to be unable to tighten because the square just spins in the channel. Am I doing something wrong. It almost seems like this square as supposed to be wider so they can't spin in the channel.

    • @JS_Adventure
      @JS_Adventure  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Looking at it and from what I remember the square with the bolt is a rectangle with a bolt and fits in my pioneer channel and tightened? On the pioneer website/manual it does mention two different channel bolts? They may have sent the wrong ones but with mine they are rectangular and can only slide in one way
      Edit* these are the channel bolts for a backbone/prado

    • @jneil78
      @jneil78 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JS_Adventure I agree. The SP309 is required, but I find it perplexing that the backbone/platform kit doesn't come with the REQUIRED hardware to mount the product, but comes with outdated hardware. Did your kit come with the SP309? Thanks for the reply.

    • @JS_Adventure

      Would it’s measurements be 1061.3mm(W) × 48mm(H) ? Couldn’t get mine to fit, it was hitting the backbone and wouldn’t go over any further. I ended up mounting it under the rack.
