    Replacing the input didn’t help solve my problem of the speakers cutting in and out only on aux. Any idea what else it could be? It’s not the cord and it’s not the speakers themselves. The cord works fine on another car and the speakers sound great on all radio modes.

    This is the clearest tutorial on this I've seen. I was able to replace mine on my 2008 Civic pretty easily just now, and I'm not mechanical at all. Saved me a bunch of money! It seems a lot of people have this problem. Kind of a shame Honda won't recognize it and do a recall or something.

    • @swavebeatz

      Ale9jandra I feel like the cover you pull back messes up the port because when you let go the cover is trying to close therefor pushing the aux cable up and bending the insides or somthing after awhile just snap of the cover when you replace it or it will happen again

    *ADVICE FOR PEOPLE WHO DO THIS*
    I strongly recommend removing the cover flap so that the aux input is exposed. Based on my experience, a BIG part of what makes it go bad is that there’s constant pressure applied to your aux cable by the flap.

    Thanks for the info, fyi to others I had to use a fine flat file to take a tiny bit off each side of the green board, the replacement I got was maybe 1/64" to 1/32" too wide to fit the slot. After figuring this out and filing a tiny bit off and trying again (took like 5 rounds of this) it slid right in! Make sure you file evenly off each side, not sure if it matters, but that's what I did and now I FINALLY have a working aux port again, woohoo! My old one worked but I had to rubber band to the charger in the socket above so as to keep tension on the plug in the port, what a pain, and that's been like that since probably about the time this video was made, doh! Oh and of course the dealership wanted $250 just to diagnose, huge $$$$ saved! Thanks again for the video!! (2008 Si Sedan)

    Honestly just saved me whatever kind of ridiculous bill I was going to have to pay if I took my car to one of those car shops, shits been bugging me for a year and I'm about to go on a long trip and really didn't want to just roll the dice with radio stations.

    Hey if anyone can help me I have a 2007 Honda Civic and bought the part from the description but the new one seems bigger than the port in my car. Anyone know something to help?

    Does anyone know how to ad the USB port to this car, I'm not talking about the one which we put on the lighter but want to attach it to an mp3 player so I can see the file I'm playing on the display?

    What is this port for? Also how is this different from the back aux you can plug a cable into on the backside of the radio for your phone?

    I would copy the part name and look for the cheapest one, I got it for $15 and the one in the link is the same one but for $40

    today i was driving i put music on before i pull out the drive way n my music is playin but eventually is gets all quiet, bass is removed n i hear the song but all low n mid frequencies got cut off, would the problem be my speakers or my aux port?

    • @DavidCelaya
      @DavidCelaya 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      My experience was that when the aux port fails, all the sound goes. You hear nothing, and the display no longer shows Aux at all.

    I own an 09' civic lx-sr, the USB in the armrest works as an aux cord and it plays songs with my iPhone 8. It was originally for iPods so it might not work on android. This info can be found in the car's manual.

    Thanks for the great video. Was simple and easy. I used a credit card, though it was a bit hard to get the old cap off. It actually broke, but I didn't want the lid on anyways. Thanks!!!

      Yep mine broke off as well. Prying it off like this doesn't seem to remove the cap from the hinges properly.

    I bought a replacement brand new one a year ago after watching this tutorial. The replacement works for about 3 seconds then it cuts off, basically like it disconnects. Do I need a new one already or is there anyway to actually repair it? I tried different auxiliary cables and they are all do the same thing.

  • @MoonGoddess401

    I just want to make sure if this is really the problem with my car, so this question is to anyone.
    My system won't switch to AUX at all, is this the indicator that it needs to be replaced? Or is it a separate thing?

    • @DavidCelaya
      @DavidCelaya 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try putting pressure on one side or the other of the aux cable, while at the same time pressing the aux button. If it switches to aux even for a few seconds, it's most likely the connector that's gone bad. I replaced mine in 2015, and it's still working great. It's a pretty common problem. The video on my channel has tons of views and positive comments, so your not alone. Good luck!
