You guys…. THIS VIDEO CHANGED MY LIFE. I went 6 months without my aux cord and I thought it was the end of my music. But I searched and searched and finally tried this and omg. I can’t thank you enough! You are a life saver. Thank you God 😂🤞
im naming my kid danny after you because its been a year since ive had no aux and you just blessed me, thank you danny im eternally grateful for you being on this earth
I just bought a 2010 Civic yesterday, figured out the aux wasn't working, and I did some research that lead me to this video. I was able to fix it myself by following along, so thank you so so much for sharing!! I'm so happy 😁
I purchased a new aux cord, a new aux port, and deliberated paying the $100 quote Audio Express gave me before this tutorial showed me the ACTUAL (not to mention FREE) fix to my car’s issue…The procedure was simple and took only 10 mins. Now I finally have my music back and I’m seriously overjoyed 😊❤️ YOU THE MAN DAN 🙌
Going to go ahead and add my voice to the choir of people singing your praises. Fix took just as long as advertised, if not less, and worked like a charm
Thank you for making this video! I have a 2008 Honda civic and I was able to fix it on my own (with your help) and save money. Now I can go back to enjoying my car rides with my music! 😊
After 3 years without it and today just I DID IT !! I followed your instruction used paper clip AND VOILA!! My AUX option back up on my GPS SCREEN! (Civic 08 EX model)
I’ve been struggling with this issue for YEARS. Thank you so much for your great walkthrough, explanation of underlying issue, and intuitive fix! One note for future viewers, my paper clip was coated in some wax which made the jumper not work. I stripped the wax off and reinstalled and all was right with the world again.
Absolutely the best video on this problem!! I fixed my Aux, problem in about 15 minutes! Thank you for posting. Ignore all other vids!!! This is the fix! Thanks again Danny.
I own a 2008 honda civic and my aux was broken when i got it. found this video and fixed it immediately. works like a charm. when using the long nose pliers or whatever they're called to make the paperclip piece. be sure to use the very tip to get as small of a paper clip as you can and jam it in. 10/10 video would recommend
Thanks! My AUX wasn’t turning on/off via wiggle, but this fix still worked to restore it! I didn’t have a paperclip so I used a post snipped off a mini-LED light to do the hotwire/jump.
What did you jump exactly, and would it be better to just replace the whole 1/8th inch assembly? Or is it nessecary to jump the white and blue because of some other inaccessable circuit?
Just like everyone else said, this video was a godsend when it seemed like there was no hope. You are awesome and thank you!! Easy for car illiterate people like myself too lol
Have a 2007 Civic EX, didn't have a problem with it up until 2017-ish. Used only for my Iphone/music. Thought the cord impedance or something was burning it out and have gone thru 3 replacement circuit boards. Thanks so much!
i don't leave comment often, but this works 100%. this saved me a lot of time, effort and money that don't even gurantee a rest at the end. worked on my sweet accord 2008. the aux port is located somewhere else, but similar assembly. thanks man.
I really didn’t think this shit was gonna work but holy fuck it legit just fixed it and it’s perfect. Can’t believe this shit was 100% a solid video. Good shit.
you can swap out the port and it should fix your problem, the paper clip tricks it into thinking the adapter is in, what happens is the port wears out and doesn't know the adapter is in, that's why it doesn't work, hope this explains it
Thank you so much! My aux port is working 100% now. Don’t make the mistake I made though. It’s only about 10° F right now at my house. This may have made the aux housing a little more brittle. I should have let everything warm up a bit first. I broke a couple of small pieces off when I pushed it back into the dash. No real issues, but could have been worse. If it breaks, Amazon has new ones for about $10.
I tried this way and even replaced the port, i have a multimeter showing that the headunit can't rekognise the aux channel even the port is working. Just wonder if you know if it can be easily identify from another side which tells if the aux is connected to the headunit? currently the 4-pin plug is going along with other cables like the 12V power supply and some other cables in a loom.
Thanks a lot, I used this video to fix mine but I didnt have a paperclip. Instead I soldiered the two prongs together near the base of the plastic. The aux door didnt fit as well as it used to but I was able to force it on and everything works now.
Previously I replaced the just the circuit board and it worked, but a few years later it occurred again. I figured my aux port was getting worn out from the pressure of the stupid spring-loaded AUX door (which I hate) as it lays against the Bluetooth aux device I have plugged in. Why does this fix work? Will it work indefinitely?
I did everything as you did but i did not use the paper clip. my aux is still having problems and it only works when i forcefully push in the aux cable. would the paper clip help my problem? :)
I have a 2010 Honda Accord, My AUX lights up when I press the AUX/CD button or plug something in. When I connect a Phone or MP3 player no sound. The light AUX light is on but no sound, any ideas?
I gave this a shot and it worked! All is not lost if your aux cable is sad. This video was so helpful in getting music back during my commutes, definitely try this out! It doesn't take long at all
No need to replace the aux input port generally . If AUX button not working, Just plug off the connector in the back seat air conditioner fan output, and short-circuited the grey and yellow line.
You guys have space to put a screw driver in there??? Right now I’ve broken one of the bottom clips and can’t get the top clip to release. You guys were able to remove the cover without breaking the clips???
my2006 civic didn't came with any aux input. so i opened the unit found the auxiliary input on the circuit board and made a custom made aux input. it is working fine but the problem is that the audio quality is not there. Sounds like 64kbps. any ideas?
Hi Sir, I've opened my aux port for honda city tmo /gm2 (year 2008 -2013), but the wire colors are not the same as in your video. Will be ok and safe if i follow your instruction by just put in the metal clip exactly at the same position regardless the colors of the wire?
I fixed my 2012 civic auxiliary, but I broke the outside clip! 😂😂😂😂 went to auto zone bought some glue to glue it back together ! I will call it, fixed ! Thanks
Have a 2012 that just started doing this.... I jam jacked the plastic thing out before watching but luckily found it in time to still make the repair! Thank you many times over!
How do u get the cd to stop doing what this aux is doing anytime I'm playing on aux / fm / or USB it interrupt saying disc loading how can I stop thatc
I answered this question in detail quite a while ago, but the short answer is it completes the circuit again, the plug is worn out, a better option would be to buy a new port, or you can fix it

Did you do the special paper clip tool? I’m just lost on why I need to do that. I’m about to put my new aux port in so kinda curious
After a long search for the fix I finally stumbled across someone who knows what they're talking about. Thank you!
Glad you found me Lee, thanks for the kind words 👍🏼
So instead of replacing it with new one ur just using the staple trick?

Are frickin kidding me, this worked 100%. Side note, instead of a paperclip I used a single staple
that works too, thanks for your support
Thank you I did it with a staple and it works 100 % thank you for your video
I kept replacing the whole port but that quick fix just saved me another 20$ and it only took me like 5 mins to do. THANK YOU
I appreciate your gratitude, thanks so much for commenting
You are a real magician! I loooove being able to listen to my favorite music in my car. Thanks Danny!
Bout my civic si and thought I needed a new aux port but this video solved all problems. Who knew all I needed was a paperClip lol

Your the man great video I used a staple, saved me 20$ thank you. Used on my 09 civic
yo this totally worked! fixed in under an hour, used a staple. unbelievable thank you so much 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
It’s tough cause there’s not a lot of space to do this, but it worked thank you so much!
Appreciate your gratitude, thanks for commenting
Thanks for the help. Took me all of 10 minutes and now my aux port is working just fine. Great advice!

Thanks Danny for this video i had this same issue with my accord 10’ . I fix it very easily and didn’t waste any money!! Greetings from 🇲🇽

Yes, replacing the assembly should fix it, no need for the jump if it’s replaced 👍🏼
Can i just solder in the circuit board?so no need to do the clip?

Hello, the sound comes out from only one side (left). What should I do so that the sound comes out from both sides? Thank you
If the cable that plugs in is good, You’ll most likely need to replace the receptacle
thank youuuuuu! the aux sound was very very low and would sound distorted. This fixed the problem on my 08 civic si and now it works!
Worked like a charm on my 2010 Civic. Thanks for the video, and kudos for replying to all of your commenters!
Awesome, thanks for the feedback, glad I could help
it really worked for me, it took me a while to put the piece in place because of the limited space. thank you very much!🎉

What's the purpose of the paperclip? Does swapping out the port in of itself not fix the problem?
you can swap out the port and it should fix your problem, the paper clip tricks it into thinking the adapter is in, what happens is the port wears out and doesn't know the adapter is in, that's why it doesn't work, hope this explains it
@Dannys DIY Garage I see. Mine isn't loose, just doesn't work anymore. Thanks for the explanation.

As long as it’s fixed, thanks for commenting
I was wondering if solder would work! Hopefully I get it right! Lol
Solder should be fine
It even worked for a 2010 CR-V. I just had to figure out the wire's colors, since the CRV has 2 blue wires. But absolutely great fix!!!!
Awesome, thanks for sharing
thank you for your tutorial. I did that and got my AUX back working. Thank YOU!

Mine still works
Dude this saved me so much money! Thank you so much man this worked!!!
Dumb question but should I disconnect my battery before starting?
@@michellepineda7392 always a good practice to disconnect the battery before working on any electrical, but it really not necessary

The paper clip is the most important part
I have a 2010 Honda Accord, My AUX lights up when I press the AUX/CD button or plug something in. When I connect a Phone or MP3 player no sound. The light AUX light is on but no sound, any ideas?

What about the actual AUX BUTTON on the radio face?? You can press it like the cd/am/fm button but it stopped working!! Any advice??
sorry I do not have that answer

I used a thin copper wire and it also worked, thank you so much!!
Excellent!
how do I release the protrusions at 1:21?
Small screwdriver very carefully 👍🏼
Hi Sir, I've opened my aux port for honda city tmo /gm2 (year 2008 -2013), but the wire colors are not the same as in your video. Will be ok and safe if i follow your instruction by just put in the metal clip exactly at the same position regardless the colors of the wire?
most likely, but without seeing a schematic for your car, I cannot be 100% sure, however most likely
is it a big deal if you lose the little rubber washer??
yeah take care of the parts
What about if you do a hole to connect your aux
I bumped mine a while ago and now it doesn’t recognize that something is plugged in. Would this fix work?
I would say 95% successful, when you bumped it it probably bent the connection internally, this should fix that
I fixed my 2012 civic auxiliary, but I broke the outside clip! 😂😂😂😂 went to auto zone bought some glue to glue it back together ! I will call it, fixed ! Thanks
👍🏼 you’re welcome
Will this work for 2013 Honda civic ?
what is the point of shorting those two wires together/ how this fix the problem? thanks for sharing.. JR
It tells the module that there is a plug in,
So what you're saying is replacing the port itself will not entirely fix it? It has to do with the wires behind it?
If you replace the port it should fix it,
Oh my gosh!!! I just did this today and it was so easy and it worked!!!! Thank you so much! :)
You're so welcome! Glad it worked for you
Omg this is amazing! It worked and I have a working aux again!!
Glad it helped!
this consider by pass right.... their is no switch between Aux and Fm....
Would this work on a 2012? Same design of the aux input?
Should work, I believe in the comments a few people did this on a 2012

Can we go fm to aux and aux to fm after doing this bypass?
Absolutely
I have the same issue with my AUX port.
Does the CD player still work after this mod?
Yes
Thanks for the tip. It worked well. I tested it before putting everything back together.
Awesome, thanks for letting me know it worked for you also
Horn stopped working. Checked fuse 12, could it be related?
No, horn is easy to diagnose, do you need help
You can still switch back to radio, correct? Is this just bypassing the function that switches over to AUX automatically when you plug something in?
Absolutely
It worked on my Honda civic 2011! Thanks!
@@cutepanda7777 thanks for your support

Thank you , this was really helpful and well explained!
Appreciate your feedback
Thanks so much. I had to find some thinner wire. But works now. Thanks
what does the paperclip trick do?
Based on other comments, it switches on the ‘aux is plugged in’ circuit in the car. Probably provides power to the pin no matter what
it works ! i owe you a beer friend !!

hahaha when i saw your intro i knew it was time to get bust this weekend 🎉😂🔥
Hope you enjoyed it!
But what are you jumpering. That was not really explained.
In my car 2012 Civic with the same setup, there is a USB / aux.
I answered this question in detail quite a while ago, but the short answer is it completes the circuit again, the plug is worn out, a better option would be to buy a new port, or you can fix it
So easy! I did everything and mine changes back to Aux finally but no sound. Any idea what else it could be?
I would use make sure it’s not your cable or anything your plugging in 1st, it should work
Paperclip fixed the issue thanks for the help!
You’re welcome
What does the jumper do?
What is the failure point?
It will bypass the automatic detect
the aux port senses when something is plugged in, when it goes bad it doesn't know when the jack is being used, we just bypassed it
I actually am having this issue right now. I am going to try this. I have the exact same Honda Civic.
