Having owned a Taycan 4S CT for 2 years (recently traded for a 2025 718 Spyder RS), I'll offer my driving and charging experience. End- April into mid-May last year, I drove the Taycan from Annapolis Valley, NS right to where you're filming this video while visiting family, and spent 2 weeks in Southern Ontario, visiting friends. Waking up in Edmundston NB to start my second day of driving, I found myself in a blizzard with sideways blowing snow, howling winds white out conditions and 2 inches of snow on the ground. Temps had dropped from 10C the night before to -6C (and further to -10C once in Quebec). I figured I was going to throw the car away into a guardrail at some point, given that I'd changed onto my all season tires at the start of the month. The Taycan was amazing in horrific conditions, with traction better than any ICE car that I've owned. The CAR tells you where your next charge stop is and if you prioritize Porsche charging stations (Electrify Canada and Porsche dealers), it gets you to those where possible, AND gives indications of how many chargers are in use. Always it looks for highest charging speed. Nav is so crazy that it will direct you left and right within a parking lot to go find that charger. Even in the most barren parts of Eastern Canada, I had no issues with charging and range. Charging is almost always limited by the charger and Ivy are poor but I figure you guys know that so you chose it to make things look bad. Had you simply gone to an Electrify Canada 350kW charger, you'd be done charging in 20 mins or less depending on what your plan for a charge was. Because the car comes with 2 years free use ($199 per year after that) of Electrify Canada and US and because dealers provide free charging (at 270 kw), it cost me $64 to drive my first 2000 kms and $16 (better use of Electrify on the way home) for the second 2000 kms. While in Ontario, I spent an additional $32 for an additional 1500 kms. For this long trip which I've done close to 100 times in the past 38 years, the Taycan was the best vehicle I've ever owned (my Cayenne E-Hybrid a close second but not as peaceful and comfortable as the Taycan). We take delivery of the RS next week but already miss the Taycan. For the haters, most folks only need an EV but as well, many folks have two cars in the driveway. For anyone who does, there is a place for an EV, especially if they're this good. With a 911 Turbo Cab and Cayenne E-H in the garage as well, it should be clear to anyone reading this that I'm a car fanatic and have been all my life. I'm a firm believer that the right answer to energy issues for humanity is ALL of the answers and not just one. I can't wait to get our Spyder RS, but already I do miss our Taycan and expect we'll be back into another at some point in the near future.
Funny enough, if you've watched enough of our EV videos... We nearly ALWAYS go to the only 350kW Electrify Canada charger. It's always broken. We've even gone there in multiple other Taycan's. So no, we're not just choosing to make things look bad. Considering Ivy is the only choice at every single OnRoute rest stop in Ontario, it's a real world scenario for anyone choosing to drive down the 400 series highways
We were looking at the i5 to replace our X5 since we don't need the utility but after much considerations I'm waiting on the city to sell me the empty lot next to my property. 🔥 It's not the charging that worries me 😂

The G force that you experience on this car or the plaid is around 1.1 G , the G that you get at the moment of a jet catapulting on an aircraft carrier is around 4 G so , not even close !

If it didn’t depreciate so quick, it would be something to consider. It’s faster than a plaid on the strip, at the track, and it’s not dated looking like the plaid either.
All EVs depreciate badly. Look at people that purchased a plaid and see how much they have lost. Depreciation on EVs will reduce as the technology matures.
Lucid would win in a drag race everytime and a roll idk about the track but since most ppl who own these cars aren’t track racing them then technically it’s the lucid
1,019 hp and 1,019% depreciation…. By the time this car runs through the 1/4 mile timing lights it will have lost the best part of $50,000. I would try and work that out in MPG, but let’s just say it’s cheaper to run the Space Shuttle…

These guys don't know EVs. Or even try to know.
@@TheStraightPipes I'm with Y&J on this one.
We were looking at the i5 to replace our X5 since we don't need the utility but after much considerations I'm waiting on the city to sell me the empty lot next to my property. 🔥
It's not the charging that worries me 😂
@@TheStraightPipes Porsche will soon be able to use the vastly more reliable Tesla charging network

I like that you guys review a big variety of cars/vehicles.
I would like to see some real world times like 0-60 and 60-130 etc using something like a dragy or whatever. Would be cool and interesting to see what those numbers would be especially on cars like these.
The G force that you experience on this car or the plaid is around 1.1 G , the G that you get at the moment of a jet catapulting on an aircraft carrier is around 4 G so , not even close !
I have a twin turbo mustang currently making 1055 to the wheels (so about 1240hp) I'm seeing about 1.25 G according to the onboard g meter. That's on ET street R drag radials.
That sounds right to me , enjoy it .cheers @@The_action_is_the_juice
Fuel cars are over 5 G’s.
Returning viewer: have fun guys, I know it’s a job but when you are having fun, we are having fun with you too 👍
Returning viewer: bring back the box test!
Returning viewer! I think it'd be cool if you guys had a 0-60 timing device since you always kick off with a launch - would be cool to see your quickets logged reviews for 0-60 (or 0-100!)
Why did you put returning viewer before your comment?
Bring back box test
Quick tip: If you find different range numbers, mention a couple of them because NA and EU are using different standards.
i feel like Lamborghini needs to build a full size version of this platform (Estoque EV)
Lamborghini plans on launching an EV in 2030. They showed off a concept about a year ago. Probably be a coupe SUV rather than a sedan.
loved the old storage measurements like the old vw alltrack and outback wagon videos
Try the Lucid Sapphire next... Take pain pills - lol
They contacted lucid but never heard back.
Don't forget there is such a thing as drag racing & and its been around pre 1987 until present. Those drivers have felt that type of power and more.
Wait but isn't the Lucid Sapphire literally already faster?
What's the Lucid Nurburgring time?
@@TheStraightPipes We don't know about track performance yet since they haven't sent it there for a shakedown, but in all of the drag races where the two go head to head the lucid has easily won, and I say that as a Porsche fanboy and someone who worked for them at one point.
Would be really cool to see you guys test one, I know Lucid is actually having troubles selling the Air so they might want the press. Might be easier to get one for review than you guys might think.
Yeah, it is. Edmonds did the 1/4 mile U turn drag race and the Sapphire beat the Taycan by 1.7s. Of course @thestraightpipes keeps commenting "wHaTs tHe NuRbuRgrInG TiMe?", like that matters to 99% of the world lol
Also, we are comparing an EV that does 427 miles on one charge (sapphire), vs another that does like 290 (taycan). Sapphire is a much better vehicle overall.
None of it matters. But Nurburgring times are the coolest because turns and long lap
5:08 This conversation is so funny hahahaha
Returning viewer can we get a android auto and apple car play check, with your visor check. Also a imperial conversation for range and speed.
Jakub needs to get a new Samsung
Not returning, just a regular viewer: Box and Rex test but only for hatches and SUVs. Keep the visor and cup holder tests! 🔥
Meanwhile, the speed limit remains 110km/h basically everywhere.
Not here in Germany (..) he he
i know in usa thats common but in europe we drive much faster and much more sensible/safer (undertaking banned etc). Even though i.e. uk has a limit of 110 we used to drive 150-160 there all the time. you could overtake cops at 140 and noone would care.
Returning viewer : box test wagons and SUVs with names of your legendary early Patreon supporters.
How do you guys not know that this is not the fastest sedan in the world 😂😂😂
Nurburgring
I just realized I've never really questioned what kind of cars most Porsches are. When I read the title I was like “Sedan??? Wait, right, it is a sedan"
718 and 911 - 2 doors
Panamera and Taycan - 4 doors
This should've been Penguin's car

LOL. The Tesla Cybertruck uses oil for the electric motors. There was some guy that just lost the oil due to a puncture and it will cost $7500 to fix the oil leak.
All of them require lubricant and cooling…
I was scrolling through google news and saw an article headliner about this.
Im gonna read what it says

@@joesmith9216 I already see self-appointed omnipotent Tesla drivers thinking they can make it through that hole in traffic. @@michelfauteux4500 chasing these massive hp numbers is stupid , I have a 2011 benz sl550(nat v8, VERY fast) and some guy in a near new bmw x5m was toying with me and he could not even race me in the street, his stupid x5m was to fast, haha, how about that? he was prob afraid to go to jail or kill some one else, when we got to a more vacant back road he floored it like a psycho and did like 100 on a street! these new cars are to fast, they really end up making no sense, I am never going over 500hp I don't think, you have to question the point, 220 hp is even enough when it's a German engine!
@@joesmith9216 I believe the numbers are mostly for bragging rights. Acceleration is not legislated but top speed is, so there is plenty of room for stupidity on public roads. This discussion could go on forever :) so enjoy your Merc and be well. Cheers.

Assuming you can charge at the track

Lucid Air Sapphire is faster than this! can you review that?
It is, but I’m still taking the Porsche
Lucid never replied to our emails. So I guess not
@@TheStraightPipes keep trying! They would love to get featured by your channel!
@@TheStraightPipes How can you make a headline like this then if you know that there's a faster sedan at the same price point?
This especially sucks that they won't call back because they gave one to MKBHD. Common Lucid, give one to the straight pipes!
Model S Plaid is 0-60 in 1.9 and Lucid Air Sapphire 0-60 in 1.89. Why are they saying this is the fastest production car?
Fastest or quickest?
The title doesn't mention acceleration specifically, this is way faster than both on a track with Nurburgring as proof (albeit not sure the Air has gone round it?)
0-60 isn’t the only metric used 🥴
Maybe they meant fastest production Porsche?
NUR
I can’t wait to pick one of these up next year for £3 🎉
Yet another fantastic piece of engineering but once again another wasted opportunity for 99.9999999999999% of the driving population to never experience. Yeah, you’ll need the same again to run it over following 5 years.
returning viewer here Since most of the new cars have software updates nowadays, it would be good to show some of the cool infotainment feature. Does CarPlay maps show on the instrument cluster, how's the 360 camera view, self parking effectiveness, etc. I think these are important things for choosing a daily driver.
Lucid Sapphire is faster...just saying...
What’s the Nurburgring time?
Returning Viewer here! Could you guys continue on Jakub's idea of riding "Loud" cars vs. "quiet" cars and seeing if it stands true to the belief that gasoline cars that make more noise are more fun to drive? Would be cool to see both of your opinions setting aside a few, well-selected cars to test that theory :) And maybe expand from that and see what is more worth it? Just an idea! Thanks guys!
You can hear in Yuri’s voice, these new performances EVs are making all ICE cars obsolete.
Returning viewer - Obviously.... BOX TEST!!!
When it goes wrong in that thing and it overcomes it’s grip, the physics of mass will make it a very Big One.
Lucid would win in a drag race everytime and a roll idk about the track but since most ppl who own these cars aren’t track racing them then technically it’s the lucid
Nurburgring?
@ you’ve got to be a bot 😂 I literally specified where the lucid would beat the Porsche and you’re still brining up a track in Germany lol ok I guess
