Porsche Taycan Turbo GT | Insane Future of Performance Cars

- We drive and the discuss the technical changes that make the new Porsche Taycan Turbo GT one of the fastest vehicles they ever made. Updates to the drive motors, batteries and suspension showcase future technology to make its way into many other cars. With a higher price tag, and higher depreciation it makes this a far more risky buy over a traditional 911, 718, or even cars like the Corvette Z06 or Eray. Others to consider are Lucid Sapphire, Tesla Model S Plaid.

Watching Jack absolutely scramble to keep up on track while attempting to give us a breakdown.. gold.
It was work 😂
It’s because it doesn’t have a B58.
🍌🦍
Keeping up with a professional driver while talking intelligibly the whole time is no easy feat! Great job, Jack.
Not just devolving into simian silverback grunts was a true achievement of will.
🦍 got mad skills
in events like this, the lead driver in a lead/follow usually drives at about 60-80% of pace. sometimes less. sometimes a bit more. depends on the follow vehicle and how they are driving. but nowhere near race pace.
lol you have no idea.
Mark was caught trying to smuggle Arby's meat into Seville 🤣🤣
Yeah, eff that jamon! Mark has the REAL meats!

I like how the Arby’s joke on this channel has been going on for several years. 😂
The engineer's response on describing the back end as "loose" or "a bit looser" made me smile. Nothing is loose on ze Porsche electric super sedan. Everything is taut and controlled and perfect.
It's just perfect in a different way!
Then why can't they engineer any world championship wins, or even have enough technical input to find a partner team? We have a term for people and companies that do not win competitions. I'm not sure we have a term for the people who admire losers though.
@@EnnesXwomp womp
@@EnnesX World championship wins of what, the EV production car championships? They won WEC 3 years in a row from 2015 to 2017 and a Porsche powered team just won Formula E last year. Not sure what that has to do with production cars though.
Well, the rear end in my 4S was very planted, and not loose. Which is why I got rid of it actually, wasn't playful enough. I opted for a BMW i4 40 which is less planted and you're able to break out the rear end due to being RWD only.
Holy shit, 2.3 tons!! No wonder they need all the suspension gimmicks.
What I’m hearing is that Lucid absolutely killed it with their initial offering
0 - 100 or driving dynamics. Can Lucid even keep up with this thing on the Ring. Tesla dead and buried. Include their next gen car as well
@@elliotcosmas both. As mentioned, the lucid has better brake feel and is better in high speed corners. It’s also more useable with its interior space. Yes, lucid has areas to improve on, but they did a damn good job for their first car
@elliotcosmas Who takes turns? Dodge sold a lot of hellcats and those don't turn.
@@JStryker7Interior space difference between the Porsche and Lucid is bonkers, if you've never been in a Taycan, it is really small for the footprint, opposite of a model S or Lucid or Rivian, all EVs with excellent packaging. In addition, Rivian has a much more advanced rear drive motor(s), and the sapphire does without the complication of porsches single motor/transmission/e-lsd rear end by just using two superpowerful motors with ratio high enough to still hit higher top speed than the Taycan GT.
Also, also. Lucid has not even made a super aggressive track pack type of car yet. I'd be interested to see their answer to the Turbo GT.
@@m1l3s27 their version is the Sapphire. The turbo gt with Weissach pack is completely idiotic and not even worth comparing to
Jack translating all the engineering and marketing wank is hilarious.
With Porsche though, it’s never wank
@@WeJustDrive if it wasn't, Jack wouldn't have translated it. Porsche performs, but just read one of their brochures.
@@WeJustDrive "not loose, it's just not quite as fast and moves more" It's a little bit wanky haha
@@dln.sweeney an engineer's definition of "loose" is different from a layman's. And a German engineer's even more so.
@@spdcrzy yeah but he’s conveying that to laymen. It’s pretty obviously marketing spin.
"Loose" vs "tight" is pretty commonly used to describe a cars tendency to rotate or oversteer vs understeer in motorsport also, it's not like Jack was trying to dumb things down excessively.
Watching the passenger's hair fly around at the end was hilarious. Very impressive!
The hair g meter 😂
Yeah this thing is ridiculously capable, more so. Ripping around the Ring at 7 minutes 7 seconds, that's fast AF for something that weighs as much as this does, the last generation GTS and Turbos were ridiculously fast and handled like they were on rails, this new gen is a huge leap in every conceivable way..... I just really hope they don't put EV stuff in the 911's.....leave it to this and the Macan.

Porsche ? Who cares ? 99% of the people reading this can't afford a brand new Porsche with the right sport options (sport suspension, mechanical differential, etc) which are very expensive in addition! Porsche is a synonym of SCAM even if you are a millionaire.
The people who are buying this car don't care lol
Fun facts about Lars, the pro driver…
1) PR plank exercise is 10min35sec
2) Has not eaten a carb since 2005
3) Was the inspiration for Blue Steel in Zoolander.
How many of those 150k taycans they sold, just guys trying to get a gt3 rs allotment?
Slimy business model
Buying multiple taycans to get an allocation/invitation to buy the 992 GT3 RS means the guys sold their bum as hoes to porsche.
Ya that’s what I was thinking when it was announced. The taycan has awful depreciation for a reason
It would take a very special person to buy this over a gt3rs lol. With that said it does look amazing and sounds very futuristic.

Launch control feels like a video game.
Yeah, I've got the Tesla Model X Plaid and even it is mind bending despite being over half a second slower. I can't imagine what it feels like in a car like this that's designed from the ground up to rip and tear. I also want to try to launch a Corvette at least once. It on paper has similar 0-60 stats to the Model X Plaid, but I can't imagine ICE cars feeling the same way.

Jack out here sweating buckets while both commentating and tracking the car. All of in name of quality content. I love this channel!
I think its funny going back to using the word "Turbo" for things without turbos. Reminds me of when every appliance had a "Turbo" setting.

Good work, Jack! Giving us all that info while ripping around a new track in a rocket took a lot of composure.
I am off to watch the other reviews where it's 100% praise to the all father porsche... thank you for being honest and objective.
How far will this depreciate in a year? Based on the previous model I’d guess 50% in a year or roughly $10k per month
Like basically all (high-end) EVs. 10/10 of the fastest depreciating cars currently are EVs, No.1 being the Tesla Model X.
It's not a Taycan phenomenon, it's an EV phenomenon.
Unlikely that the top GT weissach trim will depreciate that much. Maybe the lower end ones, but even then, 50% in a year i find very unlikely
Mostly due to some issues in original version and the huge upgrades in this one. But from all the data I’ve found none of the top 10 depreciating vehicles are EV, though Taycan depreciating is more on line with Panamera and not 911, which makes sense.
@@realMystaThe Model S was the worst depreciating EV and that lost 55 percent in 5 years.
What still bothers me (and in general) is that even tho these things can always do 0-200 in single digits, the refresh rate of a digital tachometer is also single digit. thats sad
This has always bothered me too, but apparently they do it intentionally. They update the speed slowly because if it were real-time "you wouldn't know how fast you were going"🙄
@@yummyhershey5902 I mean with gaming monitors having 360hz nowadays or cars having 16 zone seats surely u could add an option what sort of Tacho and smoothing you want. Especially with 875 kW of power🤣
That's something the Polestar does right. Also very rear-happy car, have done a bit too many donuts in that thing. 😂
They should borrow processors from phones. Difference between phones and car infotainment in terms of smoothness is night and day. Phone processors probably cost the same as a bushing in this car.

Just plain terrific. Great job, Jack!
Damn that ride along at the end seems like a rollercoaster

They could easily show the digits in real-time, however I wouldn't recognise anything as they change to fast. That is why they are this way
@supersploon4177 works fine in video games? For 230k, i want to see every KM
@@RandomlnternetGuy Yeah, but in Videogames you don‘t have to take your eyes if the road to see the speed, also you can‘t crash, so kind of different situations. You are not looking at your speed all the time while driving anyway
@supersploon4177 a higher refresh rate isn't going to add to risk. I'm just saying for that price, everything should be another level, absolutely no annoyances. I could buy a house for that cash
Porsche needs to do a cup series with these. They're so fast it's absurd.
Christian was really wringing Jack out on those hot laps. Loved it.
Porsche will provide semi-trailer mounted diesel powered generators for track days!🤣🤣🤣
Love the mechanical diff in the rear.
Have been wishing auto makers would do that for some time now.

Seeing a Porsche Test Driver in action just took me back to my childhood playing Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed. That was such a great game and I would love to see a V2 come out that I could get my kids..
Great video as always 👏
Mark filled a Lincoln Nautilus with Arby's meat and attempted a border crossing. Unreal.
I appreciate this and the lucid air sapphire but they get 0 emotion out of me
Wait a second, you're complaining your virtual experience of two cars you've never driven? The future is weird man, just go 'dress up' as in jeans and polo and go test drive a 4S or Lucid Air, or Regular Cayman S or something, if you're over 28 and not driving the super top tier models people won't bat an eye. It'd be a blast even when being nanny'd by a car sales rep. It's actually quite a fun 'hobby' to test drive vehicles you have no intention of driving once a year or so. Not like you have to provide bank statements.
its not that bad lol, lucid drives better liek he said, but i wonder why they didnt have engine sound simulator . this porsche sound isnt bad but its not eciting like it couldve been, not sure why , its not really beastly sounding wither like a v8 . not sayinf it should be loud liek a real engine, but it should sound more interesting . sort of sounds like a inline 3 , porsche 911k on top gear tries to sound more like usual v12 in fat 6 form, it makes me wonder what they can do with ainline 3 given all the emissions issues and lightweight cheapness advantage for a more everyday enjoyable car
The Arby's joke had me genuinely laughing out loud
Cool car, I'll never think about it again. Modern cars are already too fast. Selling me a $200k+ EV track car is near impossible. The wagon in a lower trim as just an EV is attractive....until you realize even that is still $130k+.
18:25 Thank you for the comprehensive comparison with the Lucid Air Sapphire, this car's true rival. Literally every other video about the Taycan GT is like "MODEL S PLAID KILLER!!!11!" with no actual useful comparison.
yea, as if people shopping for a $200,000 superwagon are even looking at a tesla whose design is unchanged for ten years
Tesla Plaid still looks badass. Still doesn’t have the suspension and brakes dialed in. Still costs a fraction of these other cars.
Jack’s laugh at 2x speed is priceless.
There's something hilarious about 150 pounds of weight reduction in a 5000 pound car. Those poor tires. This is driving reduced to G-forces.
Like a Cayman losing a hundred. I'll take it.
We'd love to see a head-to-head video with the Sapphire!
Drove the lucid grand touring for a while and man that car drove phenomenal. It has springs but drove like it had an air suspension with handling like an M3. I would go with the lucid.
While driving and owning a 6-figure track monster EV is far from pipe dream material, I have boatloads of respect for engineering teams taking performance and mobility into the future. I can only hope that some of the tactility of these hyper performance products eventually make their way into more mainstream driver-focused EVs for us normal people.
But thank you Porsche for making these EVs desirable to many. That performance is undoubtedly incredible.
Hopefully this means there will be more pre-owned Taycans on the market!
Recent resale values of Taycans are absolutely BRUTAL. I would imagine most people would lease rather than buy for that reason.
I might consider in 2-3 years when it is 50% of its current retail value (used). ;) Looks like a blast to drive.
Isn’t the girl riding with Lars supposed to be wearing a white shirt that pops open?
The second fastest thing about this is the battery degradation.
Love that purple nvidia logo 🔥🔥🔥
Last PCA event I went to there was a guy who drove his first gen Taycan. So it does happen if rarely.
Isn't the vagueness in the break pedal also caused by the fact that on this perticular model a certain amount of initial breaking is regen and only when you need full stopping power the physical breaks actually start operating ?
Thank you, Jack. Porsche does it right. We appreciate the breakdown!
I believe Rivan’s R1T/R1S hydrologic roll control is similar to what they were talking about for this car’s air ride/sway bars set up.

I know that that consumes less power as it runs off 12 V vs this which consumes up to 34 bhp.

17:00 where is the camera going? 😅
The hair from the passenger was a cool G meter lol
I know that the people who buy these aren't as concerned about tires, but is Porsche trying anything to counteract how quickly these cars blow through tires?
Yes, they've been working directly with Michelin to develop a more expensive compound.
The new compound isn't intended to last any longer, its just to do a better job of discouraging driving.
These cars are heavy and powerful. Physics are a bitch. I work for the largest independent tire retailer in the US, and we love electric cars!
Well yes, but you can't negate physics
@@donleamon8653 Given all other maintenance costs and fuel costs are lower. Its a wash, tires are like the easiest thing to replace on a vehicle, and can be a bit exciting to try different ones. IMO.
That being said my RWD BMW i4 40 ate through a set in 11k miles, granted they were Hankook Ventus S1 EVO3 which are UTG 220 rated tires on a stagger setup... happens when all braking and acceleration are done on one axle fronts are still going strong at 18k. Both rear and fronts are at 5.5/32nds (rear are on second set of tires), kind of nuts
Are people who buy traditional sports cars concerned about worse gas mileage, more expensive oil, pads, rotors, and tires?
Most consumables go way down in EVs (fuel, brake pads, rotors, oil changes), at the end of the day its a wash when worse case you deal with 25% quicker wear due to weight. These vehicles are closer to a BMW M6/M7 Sedan versus a Corvette Z06 in their buying demographic / levels of practicality they offer.

Very cool tech. Very expensive to repair
Interesting on the slight right over the brow, that corner asks questions of cat and driver, nothing apparent in the Taycan. 9/10ths or astonishing electronics, or they have made it easier on the last ten years?
It looks like driving a car from Trackmania... crazy!!!
Can't wait to see this tech in a small fun EV like an electric 718 🙏🏻
This tech goes against "small". All the extra tech adds weight and takes up space
a triumph of a review.
For some reason, I find it nearly impossible to believe ANY electric cars we buy today will last 30+ years and turn into a collector car, etc..... At 200+ large, there's literally no practical reason to own one knowing it'll be crushed and disposed of someday in the not too distant future.
Unless some chinese manufacturing plant decides to keep making outdated battery packs, you won't even be able to keep them stock. Would have to retrofit new packs into old cars and make them work together. I don't see any current EVs being collectors either.
That’s why you buy cars?
Man, I've been buying cars wrong my whole life, it started off as "what can I afford" and turned into "what would I enjoy". Guess this whole time I should've been thinking "what will it be worth in 30 years, long after I've already moved on to something else anyway"
