- 2024 Corvette E Ray review by The Straight Pipes. The Chevrolet C8 Corvette E-Ray is putting down 655 horsepower and 595 lb-ft of torque from a 6.2L V8 and 1 electric motor with a 1.9kWh battery. The sound of that Hybrid to gas engine transition is becoming one of my favorite car sounds. The Cadillac racecar sounds superb.
Chevrolet KILLED it with the design and engineering of the C8… in all variations. Kudos to those engineers!

More like design overkill, and the factory wheel setup ruins it.

The combination of the gas engine and whine of the electric motor sounds amazing!
That's pumped in via the speakers. No e-motors of any power output are as loud in the interior.
@@filipjnc It's mostly pumped in but the combo sounds great. I bet you can hear the wine from the outside. I love the real electric whine sound of my Chevy Volt. No piped in sound for that, but when the gas engine is also on, it probably does drown out almost all of the motor sound.

It’s brutal an AWD vette is wild and it’s stunning.
AWD is a bit of a stretch... its more like a FWD and a RWD at the same time... or... at separate times lol.
That transition is just like the Caddy hypercar, i love how they implement it perfectly on the vette
With the E-ray it is like the Corvette has a model to compete with every 911.
Base Corvette - Carrera
Z51 - Carrera S
E-ray - Turbo
Z06 - GT3
Z07 - GT3 RS
ZR1 - GT2
Now all Chevy needs is a variant for the Carrera T and GTS
Wouldn't the ZR1 be the GT2RS?
ZR1 isnt gonna compete with a GT2 RS when it weighs almost 4k pounds . Z06 cant even compare to a GT3 RS.

Who cares what Porsche model is somewhat comparable? People with 200k to spend will buy whatever the hell they want and it doesn't have to make sense or be the most competitive car in the segment...
Corvette doesn't really have any RS competitor. Unfortunately. They teased a C6 Z06X concept about a decade ago that was close but apparently Corvette customers haven't asked for all-out track variant.
Imagine if the Zora is an awd hybrid version of the C8 ZR1.

Idk why anyone dislikes the electric whines combined with the gas engine. Basically sounds like some new-age supercharger, which is basically how the electric motor is used lol

Corvette really did the interior sounds well. The electric/gas transition enhances the sound profile and gives character versus others in the industry just replacing sound entirely.
One of my neighbors just got a brand new Z06, and it sounds so good
The only Corvettes I would consider getting would be the Z06 or the ERay
I completely forgot about that Cadillac Race car. It’s cool to see how the technology gets passed down from racing to production cars, even if it’s only available in higher trim performance cars
This is the corvette I will buy at some point. The Z06 is just sick but for the street, this is the car to have. Love the hybrid power system! It really seems to work together seamlessly. Chevrolet has really outdone themselves with the Z06 and the E-Ray! I'm not a huge fan of the regular C8 but these are amazing!
I definitely love the Z06 and new ZR1 but if I had the money this is the one I would buy! There are already tuners that have stroked the 6.2 liter out to 7 liters with upgraded loping cams! That sounds like heaven!!!

As someone that has ridden in one, this car is seriously no joke. If youv ever ridden the old top thrill dragster from Cedar point that’s the closest feeling.
1) you guys are great, all natural, no additives..
2) one solid colour all day long, no tacky stripes no contrasting colour air scoops, contrasting grille and diffuser is just enough..
3) great job of matching up the electric motors with a real engine.. full ev's might be temporarily fast and a few even handle but they're still baked tortilla chips (bland) with no salt (BLAND)...

As a GR Yaris owner in a crappy climate AWD is king. Only thing is this Corvette has 4 times more power and sounds fricking amazing!!!!!
With such a fast charge and discharge rate, I wonder how long the battery will last before the system is toast.

It’s more of a flex for them to make more power off of pump gas. They definitely will do it with a performance car but I’m happy.
Easily the most upbeat Jakub has been in a loooong time! Fantastic start to finish, and the shirts are great!

The Eray is a BEAST, I owned my c8 zo6 for a year and put 4k miles on it and loved it. I've owned my Eray for a few months now and put 2500 miles on it, I like the Eray more than the zo6. It does need a loud exhaust though, I went with AWE Track exhaust on mine and its perfection.
Eray is the better daily for sure. I had a C8Z for about 8 months and loved it, but it belongs on a track. My luck would only go so far trying to constantly hear that motor rev up and I would definitely wind up in jail haha. Eray is quicker and more practical for the street.
After 6 months of owning my c8, I’m looking to get a z06. That sound is just intoxicating. Maybe I need to do some research on the Eray before I make that jump
Not a fan of any electricification but this is exceptional. The V8 sounds like old school Koenigsegg.

Loved this car since it was introduced. Great power numbers with the electric/V8 combo. Love that crossover sound from hybrid to V8. And really cool design idea on those shirts!
The e ray is my favorite of them all. That electric to gas is just awesome. I know it won’t have as much horsepower as the new one but who cares , it’s still fast and the torque is on point!

I love that spec, absolutely perfect. Love that blue, so sweet with the white interior. Reverse from Uri I would actually like the back vents blacked out and even the side vent with the black trim just to cut the color up a little.

Zora Arkus-Duntov’s original (‘54) Corvette was available *only* as a 2-speed torque converter automatic.

Awesome car but if price is no object I would take a 911 Turbo over this. Compared to a base 911 at a similar price point the E-Ray becomes super compelling.
We have a Camry hybrid in the family and after 15 years and 425000km the hybrid battery needed replacement. We had to drive the car to Montana (better pricing) but we had a rebuilt battery installed into the car for like $2500. The car drives like it’s brand new again. That is the only item to fail on the vehicle with the exception of a set of rear suspension bushings which tend to fail prematurely maybe every 100000km or so.
Please do that shirt for the Cadillac CT5 and CT4

@dallasreed just won the LSFest East Grand Champion (Total score from AutoX, 3S Challenge, Drag) with a brand new ERay against some highly prepped cars and amazing drivers. Only mod was a fresh set of A052 tires. I can only imagine what a prepped car would do.
