    I didn't know there was such a thing as polystyrene primer; I always just mask super carefully! Will defo get some next time I'm doing this style of helmet! Awesome result BTW Martin.

    Do i need the primer before the paint to protect it, or only masking with tape is enough to protect the foam of the helmet?

    Great video! If you were doing a solid white paint for the helmet (cover and styrofoam as well) would you just cover up the plastic parts and prepare + primer + paint + finish everything?

    Ich würde sehr gerne wissen, welche Körnung bei dem Schleifpaf verwendet wird.
    Ich würde gernen meinen Helm auch gestalten nur weiß ich nicht welche Körnung dür das anrauen des Helmes benötigt wird. (Das anrauen vor dem Bemalen)
    Ich würde mich sehr über eine Antwort freuen!

    Was ich ebenfalls richtig gut finde. Die Links für EU und US. Eigentlich kaum der Rede wert aber sowas machen auch nur wenige.
    Die Sicherheitshinweise und das Beispiel ist sehr hilfreich , es gibt sicherlich viele die genau dort ihren Helm zerstören .
    Das Ergebnis ist wie immer ein absoluter Hit!

    How much time do you allow between coats before applying masking on top of the fresh paint? I've had an issue with paint sticking to the masking tape when peeling it off and I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong.

    I can see a primer for the polystyrene in your links, but not for the plastic helmet. Please can you advise what primer to use? I’m in the UK and can only seem to get the 2K final coat on Amazon. Any suggestions for alternative Neon orange paint for my POC helmet please?

      You can do them before and also after the clear coat as you like.

    Considering that helmet shell is plastic, would it be better to use plastic primer, or is the Polystyrene better choice for piece of mind?

    Awesome Martin always wanted to know what it took to paint a helmet. To get a Matte finish just use a Matte clear?

    So... if you mask the polystyrene properly... why would you still need a polystyrene primer? Or is it "just in case"??

    Great video, and very informative! Heres a question. I want to paint my helmet the same color as my bike frame, can i use a spray paint for bicycles on top of the polystyrene primer, or do i have to use specific paints from the same brand as the primer??

      You have to use paints which fit the shell of the helmet.

    I love the bike and bike accessories painting videos. I just bought the SWorks Mirrow Saddle and it only comes in black. However, I would love to have it in a deep cherry red. It was made via 3D printing, so can it be painted? I am concerned that the rubbing and normal stretching of a saddle may not permit custom painting. What are your thoughts?

    Sehr gut erklärt, danke. Ich bin mir nur nicht sicher, ob es nicht ZUVIELE Farbtöne auf einmal sind. Mehr als drei Farben in einem Design machen ein Produkt schnell „unruhig“. Klar, hier in diesem Viddo geht es das Lackieren an sich. Für meinen eigenen Helm würde ich aber deutlich weniger Farben nehmen.
    Den Tipp mit dem Käse fand ich übrigens ... Käse. Sorry, der musste sein ;-).
    Viel Erfolg weiterhin mit Deinen Videos, bin gespannt auf das nächste.

    Cool, I want to try this, but the 2K clearcoat is quite expensive for 1 try (since you have to use it up within 48 hours), is it possible to use a cheaper clearcoat, and if yes, which one? Thx a lot!

      I tried this today and applied the primer yesterday, however the primer does not adhere to the helmet, if I mask the helmet the primer comes off with the tape when I take it off...? What did I do wrong? What do you use to degrease the helmet prior to primer?

      Yes, use the Montana Gold clear coat, works fine but isn't as durable as the 2K system.

      I have no orange peel problems. Apply more clearcoat if you have orange peel and/or do better preparation of the primers and basecoats if you have theese problems.

    Martin I just saw this explanatory video of you how to paint a helmet, but I have a Styrofoam Helmet, but there is one but its mark is as if it were glued with a type of plastic only that I would like to paint the Styrofoam now without attacking the Styrofoam of Capecete, applying Primer would be a good protection before applying the paint, what can you do about it?

      I do a big poop, normally 30 seconds, with cleaning the butt 1.30, with phone one and a half hour.
