Interestingly enough, when you have Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and use Sonic to traverse through Knuckle's territory, Marble Garden zone's boss shows up, and you can actually beat him. Angel Island, Hydrocity, and Launch Base will still cause glitching. In Sonic 3 & K, you can use Knuckles, when riding on a spinning top platform in Marble Garden act 2, to carefully weed your way through to the other side of the pillar (requires careful precision), jump and cling to the wall, defeat the tiki, and you can get to Sonic's end of the zone. Tails will even come out and fly you around to defeat the other boss. It's really weird.
Something like that can happen in sonic 2 IOS. In level select, put in the sound test "00 00 00" and you should get the game config.switch the character when.You find A duo of Tails And Knuckles.

They edited that part out but left everything before it.

Of course the S3&K hack "Sonic 3 Complete" has the option to use the Sonic 3 layout versions of the unused Knuckles routes from this game when playing as Knuckles. The only difference is the checkpoint is removed from the beginning of Knuckles route in Angel Island act 2 (like in S3&K), and due to the Carnival Night Knuckles route being incomplete in S3, it uses the S3&K version of the layout in the level.
In Ice Cap, at 6:24 you can use a screen rap to pass the wall and if you keep going you can beat act 1 in act 2. So you don’t have to use debug mode to get through

Knuckles Can break' em down walls or rocks whether they soild or frail. Simply by touching them. but he is slower than Sonic also with his lower jump height which he can't jump as high as sonic or tails. But he has his own Gliding and Climbing Route for sure
These routes exist because the devs planned to include Knuckles in the game (this would break the point of the lock-on feature), but they scrapped it. He's still accessible, but not legitimately.
Magdalena Bartosiewicz Actually Sonic 3 was originally supposed to be Sonic 3 and Knuckles but it would have cost too much to produce a cartridge with the 34 Megabits of space needed to store the entire game so they ended up splitting Sonic 3 into two games and adding the Lock-On feature.

Sonic 3 & Knuckles is the full game. They released it in 2 parts: A: Sonic The Hedgehog 3 & B: Sonic & Knuckles (later in the year) and included the lock-on technology because of time constraints.

Yeah, especially in Angel Island Zone. Ice Cap I've been able to get to, even had the boss load for me. but Angel Island, I either get killed going through the rocks leading to the boss, or jumping down where the lamp post is right after it.

The jump sound is a common issue with recording on some emulators, and for aiz i’d assume it has something to do with skipping knuckles’ boss since the second half of act 1 is in act 2’d level chunk
if you have one hacked version that allow that, you should put it in here. ;) i think s3complete maybe allow you to do it, or if not, using pro action replay codes and debug mode. will be cool tought, can apply that "touch and kill it" knuckles abillity for sonic can break those walls. :P
It's also possible to reach the Knuckles Area without the use of an Action Replay via a glitch. The Knuckles' Route of Ice Cap is arguably a faster route to take, as you skip the Act 1 boss.

In the original Genesis games, you'd need a second controller to get Tails to do that. In stuff such as mobile ports, you could do that simply by jumping and pressing Up.

They're not underwater for Knux. Sonic's playthrough has a LOT more water than Knuckles' does.

In the original Genesis games, you'd need a second controller to get Tails to do that. In stuff such as mobile ports, you could do that simply by jumping and pressing Up.
