  • @dayadam16
    @dayadam16 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I recently just built me a limitless and drove since Christmas and just figured out 3 weeks ago it does 100. I literally looked up the max size motor it could fit and already had some smc packs 90c and 120c for my xmaxx. I went with the max 6 and rocket 1580kv 4585 motor stock gearing. When I GPSed it recently I was blown away when I realized it did this speed. I'm now nervous when I drive it and I have a mountain more of respect for it. I can run 8s and wont even attempt it. With that being said I've changed a few things on it cause of heat. 1st If your running a max 6 esc, I would highly suggest getting a rocket 35mm fan for the esc or run max 5 esc. 2nd some type of dual motor. I hit 100 flat with the 120 graphene race smc battery packs. Gotta run lipo alarm at 3.4 but cut off esc LVC.

  • @Courage68

    Those hobbywing esc's have a over current protection/voltage drop protection. Also i hear the car isnt topping out on the rev's. i would suggest dropping the pinion down to 25t to reduce the voltage drop and amperage consumption , OR Get a Castle XLX and program a 300a limit. Best of luck with your speed runs. My best is 141mph on 6 cell in a slash 4x4 (vid in my channel)

    • @AussieRCPlayground
      @AussieRCPlayground  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for the tip, but the aim of these tests is to see what can be had in a Plug & Play scenario with items straight off the shelf and what's included in the kit.
      Also, the Slash weighs about half what the Limitless weighs and every speed run I've seen with a "Slash" barely resembles the actual car anymore. It's all been modified with carbon fiber or alloy and all sorts of other mods including different bodies, etc. Unless yours is different, I'd say you can't really call it a Slash anymore, but rather some custom build using SOME Slash parts. Just my opinion based on what I've seen. Regardless, 141mph is pretty fast though, so well done. 👍

  • @NordicRC

    First of all, congrats! Good run. Maybe the more-or-less random c-rating of battery companies caused it? Seen a couple of videos that suggest that the way companies rate their c-rating of batteries can be quite different. Tested some 50C Ovonic batteries too, and even though they worked great (in vehicles demanding much less power than yours) it might be that Ovonic rate their c-rating higher than the other company you used (that worked).

I wont know if it's my batteries because i havent got any others. I dont think fitting any motor fans to it will do the trick. Any suggestions, thanks, well done for the 100mph

    @StewMac570 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well done Vas. Congrats on the 100mph. Interested to see how you go out of the box with the XLX. Ideally changing the settings will give you the best results as castle have a no voltage cutoff limit and a no amp limit (best to set it at 400amp limit and that’s all the esc is good for anyway) then depending on the motor wind a little timing might help get a few more mph.

    I have the hobbywing 4985, and had a Max6 (but that's going for RMA), will the original blx185 be ok running that motor on a 21t pinion? I am probably going to replace the Max6 with a Castle MMX8S or XLX & possibly switch out the motor for a TP 4070CM. Also this is in a heavy Notorious with all the M2C goodies.💪

  • @simmyqux
    @simmyqux 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Congrats on 100mph! Love your enthusiasm! 1 minor suggestion, you are using your standing position as the end point of the run, yet the car still seems capable of accelerating as it passes you. If you place Noah further down the street and stay on the throttle a bit longer you might be able to get a bit higher speed. Apologies if there is some feature of the road that prevents this and I didn't see it.

    • @AussieRCPlayground
      @AussieRCPlayground  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the road ends just after where I stop and turn around (it turns right), so if I hold the throttle for much longer I won't have enough road to stop and I'll slam into the kerb. 😬 100mph is about the limit of this road, any faster and I won't have enough space to pull up. It's a shame because this road is perfect for speed runs...

  • @adriansurfing4343
    @adriansurfing4343 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've been doing a lot of research into top speed runs as of lately, and I believe the battery is not your first biggest bottleneck, but your ESC. the Max8 has a much lower over current protection limit compared to other top ESC's out there (castle, tekin, etc). People have reported greater success with mamba monster (original), and even better with mamba monster 2 if sticking to 6s. The Mamba Monster X is very similar to the monster 2 but just has more features including running sensored. If you are going to run with hobbywing EZrun, I would recommend Max 6 with a 8 cell battery (running 6s will net you similar performance as the max8), or Max5 if you want to run 6s with a raised safety amperage cut off compared to max8. I would strongly encourage you to run max5 preferably 8s, or at least the max6 in 8s to notice noticeable gain and run a much more energy/power efficient battery/motor/esc setup. You will want to go with ideally 1500kv, 1650kv, 1700kv, or 2200kv in 8s for easy gearing options without big modifications (only 2200kv out there is the TP 4070 CM 2200kv ***CM Version ONLY which can run 75k rpm for 10s bursts on 8s***). If you are determined to run 6s first, than you will need to upgrade the ESC first before the batteries (as the batteries were not your bottleneck most likely this early. You can measure batter temps if you feel they are). Good Luck.

    What is the difference between max 6 and max 8 esc ?,
    I have found the Rocket 4585 motor for it,
    There are 2 kv options 1580kv or 1100kv,
    What is the difference between these 2 motors ?.
    I don't want the limitless drifting like the infraction with to much low down torque.

      I run a set of 50C HRB 3S 5000kv in my 6S trucks and find they they are a bit softer on power delivery than my Hobbystar 6200mah 3S 50C packs. For bashing, they work fine though and considering the weight comparison, I prefer the 5k's in my ERBEv2 due to the suspension not liking the extra weight of the 6200's. I have 4 of each, so I usually run the 6200's in my outcast and the 5000's in my ERBEv2 and SavageFlux HP.

    Yeah, unfortunately cheaper batteries C rating claims are usually incorrect. I like Ovonic, i use one of their chargers, but Ovonic batteries are budget batteries like Hoovo and Zeee, and their C ratings can't be completely trusted.
    My 4s Zeee "80C" battery in my Felony will cut out sometimes, and Felony only requires 50C batteries, so Zeee probably claimed twice the C rating to sell more batteries.
    I like Ovonic, but i wouldn't be surprised if they use similar selling tactics.
    Budget lithium batteries is a very competitive market, abd they wouldn't sell as many batteries if they didn't do SOMETHING different.
    That's better than lying about the capacity, which can result in swelling or fires, if you're charging at 1C.

    That sound is epic! I thought you bought a ripple killer, maybe that will help.

      It has a cap pack in there, but that isn't going to stop excessive amp draw or batteries from sagging during a run. At least now I know what's happening and I can fix it. 😊

      Aussie RC Playground OmI thought that was the function of a cap pack but perhaps the amp draw is too long. Or maybe I misunderstand the whole meaning of it. For what I saw on TH-cam those are mostly used by rc speedruns.

    Dude you need to get some way better batteries. SMC racing makes some very good ones. I have 6 at 5000mah 97 amp / 90C. I also have some Turnigy Graphene that are 75C and 90C and they also run amazing. I get no power loss what so ever even at 120mph and over. And of course I run really good cap packs. I have that same hobbywing max 8 esc in one of my setups running a castle 2200kv and it bangs over 100mph all day long in a traxxas slash awd with the SMC lipos.

      That's all very good, but the Slash is a paper clip on wheels compared to this car. The Limitless weighs far more than a Slash and will pull more amps as a result. Please don't compare a Slash to this car, it's in the same category, they are 2 very different cars of different sizes and weights.

      @@AussieRCPlayground My slash is just one of mine actually. I have a kraton that I converted to a drag car and a typhon. I do 132ft drag races against many other people, we have a drag racing league here with about 50 people racing every other weekend, sponsored by a local hobby shop. And I also do speed runs as well. The limitless may be quite heavier but I was talking about higher amp rating on lipos not the actual car they are in. Oh yeah and my slash is super heavy by the way. No more plastic left on it I converted everything to metal including a 12 inch long steel wheelie bar. So yeah not a paper clip on wheels bro.

      @@AussieRCPlayground Ill put my slash on a scale tonight with the lipos in it and ill let you know how much it weighs. Again it wasnt about a Slash.

      Haha, as is the case with 99% of people who claim to have a "Slash" speed car, it's not really a Slash anymore. Going by what you're saying, it's a custom built chassis with some Slash parts. Which is what I suspected...
      You don't need to weight your car, I have a feeling it will weigh just as much or perhaps even more than the Limitless.
      Please try to understand what I'm trying to do with this car and why. This is basic stuff (the setup) with mostly default settings on everything and I'm using batteries that are affordable and accessible here in this country. I know 100mph may be old news to a lot of speed run guys, but it's all plug-n-play gear I've used and ANYONE can do this. Now that I've broken through the 100mph barrier, it will start to get a bit trickier to keep things stock and I know I may need to do more tuning, more custom work and yes, get better batteries. I'm trying to avoid the Turnigy stuff, though, as I've had too many puff up after a few runs. I used them in the past and even promoted them here on the channel, but soon found out they aren't that good. And they're getting more expensive than other well known brands.

      @@AussieRCPlayground Yeah your right actually my slash isnt a slash anymore i suppose it doesnt have anything left on it that it came with except maybe some screws lol. Anyways yeah its a heavy bitch for sure. I have to keep it on the ground at the speeds I run it. It only has maybe 3mm of travel on the shocks as well. You could stand on this thing and the chassis wont touch the ground. You would break the GRP wheels before anything. I know its not the typical stock setup since ive dumped around 1500 bucks in it. But yeah if you ever have the chance check out the lipos from SMC-racing.net. I cant break these batteries if I tried. Im still running lipos from them that are a solid 5 years old no lie. And to me at least that brand is affordable and very reliable. I definitely have got my moneys worth out of them. I would say 100+ drag races and speed runs and they are still going strong. Just trying to pass on personal experience with you im not trying to bash you or anything.
