Kevin. It is very easy to use a small flat screwdriver to push the contact pins out of the Traxxas connector. That way you wont have to cut the wires. Then you can quickly unsolder the tabs which leaves you with pre-tinned wires ready to solder to your new connector. That way your wires are still the original length, and if you wanted to, you could easily put the original Traxxas connector back on, and warranty not void.

I like the winter rc rigs going through the woods. This one rc channel dude lives where there's tons of snow I forget the channel. RC spark or something
Out of the box tires are for concrete hard street surfaces. The ones in the bag are for carpet. One dot hard 2 dot softs. Also out of the box it’s on race mode. Hold esc to do one flash to get brake. However e brake will then be a reverse button when held to long.
The E brake on my own makes the car turn quicker but I also like to use the standard break. I've been using mine with the straight out the box features and find it to be quite enjoyable and I just suffered a Stroke. Traxxas advises folks dont mess with those other features until they become better at it so Im going to wait a bit before i start missing with those fancy features considering I'v only been drifting for a couple of weeks now, cheers Kevin and crew thans for all of your dedication to the sport of RC.
Definitely the MST is a better all round Drift Car. The Traxxas chassis is just their 4-Tec made with the centre drive shaft removed. Battery weight all on the left is not good as the chassis is unbalanced which will make it drift differently each way. They are aimed at the basic entry level carpark drifter with only 65 degrees max angle as apposed to 85-90 degrees fro the MST and other dedicated drift chassis. Great fun video as always Kev. The drift scene is the best group of people I've ever meant in RC. I've tried indoor racing and drag racing. Both had major issues with jaded people and over all bad vibes. I've meant most of my best friends through RC drift. The community around drift is just better, more focus on fun than competition.

If you want the 4Tec drift experience for cheaper, just convert a TT 01/02 to 2WD. Add gyro, tyres to suit the surface you'll be on, and tune the rear differential to your driving. For more front angle you can replace stock arms with the adjustable camber links or switch to MST units with little modifications needed. If I could do it, anyone can. Then when you're ready get a MST. Thats how I started and progressed.
I believe people think just because it's not "competition ready" means it's bad. I think this new Traxxas drift car is more of a casual drift car. It appears to do very very well, just not necessarily what I've seen from competition drifting. I don't have a problem with that!

I perfectly understand the negative points that RC drift community is raising about this chassis (as I have been in it for almost three years now), but they are missing one critical point -- this chassis is not aimed at the guys/gals at the track. This one is aimed at the new people who wander into a regular hobby store and see _this_ on the shelf. Those kinds of stores rarely, if ever, carry the likes of Yokomo, or MST, or ReveD, hell, most of the "regular RC people" haven't even heard of those brands. While Traxxas is literally everywhere. Personally I see this as a great way to attract more people to the RC drift community, even if they will likely have to get a new setup if they want to run on the track with the others. And leave this for parking lot bashing with some friends.

People wanna complain about the car. It’s $329US and comes with a $40 Bluetooth adapter. Throw a battery in it and rip. Compare that to a kit that’s $300 plus wheels and tires a body electronics your well well into the 600 dollar mark. The Traxxas drift is a perfect beginner drift car and if you can drive good enough it will be more then enough.

Its a good looking car. But fir preformance kev. You should review a Redcat RDS. Its all carbon fiber brushless 3s capable and is only $400! Its by far the best RTR drift car ever i like it so much better then the MST RMX 2.5
The gopro videos had a lot of flicker. They have an anti-flicker feature, and if that is set to 60hz it won’t work since the Isle of Man uses 50hz power. So it needs to be switched to 50hz. Hope this helps!
4 tech platform is awesome in my belief. From my experience. I absolutely love mine. Favorite go to street car for fun. Not saying the Arma isn't awesome.
I am saddened by how GoPros seem to get worse and worse. Back when you got your 12 and disliked it my wife bought me the same one for Christmas. I bought a Hero 10 at the same time and like it much more and like my Hero 8 even more! I was curious if the 13 would be better and I can see it is not. :( Looks like I will switch to the Insta 360s
If the handbrake button just activates the brake on the esc that’s why it won’t go into reverse.. I think you can change the running mode on the Traxxas esc
My xmaxx 1st gen was the biggest crap box. It broke over and over I had to sell it. My kraton broke less. I could have had bad luck with my xmaxx. It's all up to you witch one you like better though. I would have no problem with buying a new xmaxx though. I like every rc tamiya to axial to traxxas to arrma to cheap stuff to everything rc. Let's go!!
Kev on the xl5 esc there 3 modes ,no1 race mode 1 forward break no reverse, mode 2 forward break and reverse , mode 3 is 50 % power baby mode for newbs , the is a xl5 3s esc that would really Wake it up it plug & play to iv done it on my traxxas stampede brushed 12t motor it awesome on 3s .to set the modes esc off turn it on & hold it it will go solid green then it will blink red for each mode once twice and three times u want mode two f R B , when it flashes twice red let go and you’re done all lx5 esc are the same 💯👌🤙🇬🇧

Kev, that car has 3 different drift modes to help assist drifting and make it easier to drift for beginners. You can select modes on the app!
Sport mode: forward/brake/reverse
Race mode: forward/brake
Training mode: 50% forward/break/50% reverse

Just to let you know, on all drift cars, usually hitting the reverse quickly is handbrake, and holding is brake, and holding more is reverse 😂😂
