Your bike rides so much cooler than a Goldwing... Other than the starter & relay (under warranty) I have had no problems with my TC and love this bike. No, it's not as "high tech" as a Goldwing or BMW K1600 but is a very good bike that drives, runs and rides great.
You will honestly not regret i had a 2014 Raider prior to this and i felt right at home on it only difference was a nice huge fairing and a redesigned motor... thanks for watching
I've had mine a year and a half now; 18,650 miles. I added the 2.5" TAB Exhaust earlier this year. I bought the PCV but never installed it. The 16,000 mile service showed no issues. I considered adding the OEM wind deflectors, but never did. I didn't feel like the heat was ever bad enough to need them and I'd seen where several guys/gals had the deflector hinges break on them - cheap plastic. I also added the 2" ROX Risers to my handle bars just for an added amount of pull-back on the bars for my comfort. I started with the Medium windshield, but I still get buffeting at highway speeds (65+) and I'm only 5'-8". I wish they would have made the left cubby lockable like they did the right. And the fuel door... what a PITA! And it's slightly worse with the ROX Risers. I have to have bars centered initially to open it all the way, then I turn the bars to full right lock to get plenty of room to get the fuel nozzle in. I've had the forward dash panel (black section directly behind the windshield) replaced once under warranty due to warpage that created an annoying buzz against the piece it mates to. Guess what? It's buzzing again. Super annoying. Fit and finish on this bike is less than impressive. If I didn't still owe so much on it, I'd be very, very tempted to trade it in for the new Indian Challenger.
Yesterday I discovered this bike. And I’m absolutely in love. Come first of the year I’m buying a new/used bike I venture to say with a simple ECU tune. To get that redline to 5500 or so Every video says that redline comes too quickly
It definitely redlines quick if your looking to go wide open....i have over 20k miles on my bike now and its been amazong thus far.... after my warrenty is up i plan to add the ivan performance flash to my eluder
Dude, I came here for the bike review but u had me in the first 30 seconds. Burly guy, hockey jersey painted on the wall, Labbat blue beer decal and goal pads hanging of off the beams. 👍
I have a 2020 with the front fairings top and bottom they work amazingly well , the venture that is, its the most comfortable bike I've ever owned and has more than enough power for two the deflectors when pointed inward bring in lots of cool air, I don't have any problem with heat!
I noticed you changed the stock windshield. I did the same for my Venture. I got caught in the rain and found the stock shield to be very ineffective at blocking the rain. The rain was coming around the sides and over the top of the shield and hitting me in the face even in the raised position. That shouldn't be happening on a touring bike. Showchrome makes a touring shield for this bike that is 4.5 inches wider and 2.5 inches taller. You can put it on and take it off in less than 10 minutes and it makes all the difference in the world as far as protection. It allows you to keep the cool looking short shield you have when just puttin around town.
The Eluder windshield is fixed. It does not have the electric motor the Venture has. The Medium windshield available for the Eluder ( the tallest one available) is still shorter than the stock Venture windshield. I'm only 5'-8" and I still get helmet buffeting at highway speeds (65+). My preference is to wear a half-helmet, but when I know I'll be in weather, I'm forced to use a full-face because the Eluder windshield just doesn't provide enough protection, even with the re-curve at the top.
I haven't checked recently, but there hasn't been much in the way of aftermarket for these bikes. Another reason why the Indian Challenger keeps tempting me. It has only been on the market a very short time, but already there's quite a bit of aftermarket available for it.
Yeah good video. I just bought mine a week ago. I put an aftermarket windshield on it 18.5 tall but dark tinted. I screwed up the dark I shouldnt have gotten hard to see threw it plus the reflection of the dash board refecks slot. Clear I should of got. I dont think the company would let me exchange it for clear. I'm waiting to hear from them so fare it's been over 12 hours since I asked. No answer back. I'll just go back to the stock shield. And call it a lose. Darn
Great review. Just picked up the Venture. Still got the bike? As for the pipes vs tuner- if you keep the air filter stock, you should be okay. Once you introduce more air you may need one. I am told by a Yammy Master Tech that these bikes were made to self-adjust to about 15% air-fuel ratio up or down. So, doubtful the slip-ons changed the AFR that much. Great stuff. To bad there's not more aftermarket stuff for these bikes. Maybe Rockford Fosgate will introduce some nice audio for these rides. We'll see.....
Yup still have the bike i have 12k miles on it and have a handful of big trips planned this summer ... i did not tune it and the only air filter that i found to change this up, has Zero performance benefits so i just see it as a waste of 600 bucks

I know its probably a dumb question but are the cables secured tightly to the battery? If so check the starter and make sure those are tight.... Also if youve not had it done go get your starter swapped yamaha put out a bulletin at the beginning of the year about a new starter or an upgrade per say.... i had my starter go completely out and others had the relay go... thats all warranty covered
@@yamabeast5874 Yup I checked that cables multiple times. I will check the starter next. But I’m thinking it’s not the starter being that it tried to do a Half of a crank.
Trying to follow up on my previous comment. I purchased the Eluder and now have approx. 750 miles on it. I've noticed the clutch feels somewhat flaky. You can feel the transmission shifts through the clutch lever. It's hard to explain. I bought a 2006 Stratoliner new and put 84,000 miles on it and the clutch felt perfect. The Eluder is definitely different. Almost unpleasant. Maybe it's the new slipper clutch. I don't know. What do you think?
Im not sure im getting the same feeling you are... i really like this clutch compared to a lot of bikes ive road.... it does have a slightly heavier feel on the foot as far as shifting but not enough to make me question it... if you feel theres an issue you may want to have it looked at but personally i think its a great feeling clutch

I have a road Star and it does not have all this plastic, plastic is probably OK but I don't care for it. Many Harley gas cap covers open like that and it's really dumb...
You neee to remove the 2 kick plate under the seat next to the passenger foot rest... on screw is a 5mm allen wrench the other side is a flathead or you can pull the tab out and spin it by hand..... then pull the panels straight out, there will be some resistance from the rubber gromets behind it.... after both are plates removed there are 2 bolts either 4 or 5 mm underneath the front side of the seat that need removed once they are removed you can disconnect the heated seat plug from the right side of the bike and then slide the seat forward and lift up... that will give you access to the battery and other items underneath
I am 5' 8" and i prefer the taller one on longer rides.... if its just around my local area at speeds below 45 to 55 i like the shorter one but anything over the wind really makes your head bobble because thay fairing really blocks wind and passes it up and around a lot

@@porkchopspapi5757 i agree with that... until i see legitimate data proving its so worth it im not spending the money unless i can get significant power increase from it
@@yamabeast5874 I bought a slip on muffler for a yz 1 which was way too quiet from a well known performance retailer, dennis something. He told me I would need one to get the bike to run correctly after the change. I put it on & took it off 3 times. Couldn't understand why it seemed to make the bike run less well. It ran perfect without it.
@@porkchopspapi5757 yeah whatever they can do to rake more money out of you... i bought a set of freedom performance exhaust through dennis kirk and chose not to get a programmer for my 2014 raider and after i installed those it ran great until someone pulled out in front of me 2 days after installing them and totaled the bike and the pipes so i couldn't resell them

Do you still own this bike? What are your opinions of it now?
I do still own this bike, i have a little over 14,000 miles on it... i absolutely love this bike but i do not like the minimal support yamaha has been giving as far as upgrades and newer models ive had some hiccups with the bike but yamaha has cover every since it came with a 5 year warranty... but overall i am in love with this bike and have done many long distance rides on it.... if i were to have been dating my girlfriend at the time of purchase i would have definitely gone with the venture for a little more comfort and storage
@@yamabeast5874 Yeah, the bike you have is bad-ass looking, and everything I've heard about Yamaha in terms of reliability I'm sure has transferred to the Eluder as well.
I have a Harley performance bagger and I've had a lot of mods done to it. Even still, the Eluder is a definite eye catcher. Some day I hope to give it a test ride. Thanks!
@@ambrosekane2941 it definitely is a one of a kind and has potential, unfortunately use eluder owners at least for now will be the unicorns for yamaha and a rare breed in the bagger scene
Put a new battery in the bike and it just a half crank and that’s it. The same thing before with the old battery. So I just my ski battery in the bike that I know is good and same size battery and still doing the same thing. Any idea ?
I know its probably a dumb question but are the cables secured tightly to the battery? If so check the starter and make sure those are tight.... Also if youve not had it done go get your starter swapped yamaha put out a bulletin at the beginning of the year about a new starter or an upgrade per say.... i had my starter go completely out and others had the relay go... thats all warranty covered
@@yamabeast5874 Yup I checked that cables multiple times. I will check the starter next. But I’m thinking it’s not the starter being that it tried to do a
Half of a crank.
@@yamabeast5874 Thanks for getting back. It's at the dealer for the first oil change and one of the techs mentioned that he had ridden an eluder and it felt the same as mine. Maybe I'm being overly critical. I'll keep you posted. I'm riding it from here in New York to Sacramento, Ca. next week. So it's California or bust.
Moving to 2022, do you still have it? What would be your opinion now if you do
I still have it and still love it... i still feel there were some weake spots that could have potentially made this bike a major contender as a really good bagger.... i love traveling on it
I have a road Star and it does not have all this plastic, plastic is probably OK but I don't care for it. Many Harley gas cap covers open like that and it's really dumb...
One of these times im going to accidentally break mine not paying attention but its like everything else, once your use to it the lid becomes normal
@@yamabeast5874 That's like saying hemorrhoids is normal once you get used to it. It's still a PITA

How do you get to the battery
You neee to remove the 2 kick plate under the seat next to the passenger foot rest... on screw is a 5mm allen wrench the other side is a flathead or you can pull the tab out and spin it by hand..... then pull the panels straight out, there will be some resistance from the rubber gromets behind it.... after both are plates removed there are 2 bolts either 4 or 5 mm underneath the front side of the seat that need removed once they are removed you can disconnect the heated seat plug from the right side of the bike and then slide the seat forward and lift up... that will give you access to the battery and other items underneath
How tall are you? Just wondering if the standard windshield is ok for me at 5’10”
I am 5' 8" and i prefer the taller one on longer rides.... if its just around my local area at speeds below 45 to 55 i like the shorter one but anything over the wind really makes your head bobble because thay fairing really blocks wind and passes it up and around a lot
How tall are you? I really like this bike but I'm only 5'6"
Im right around the 5'8" mark but im pretty confident youd fit it no problem ive met a few gentlemen shorter than me and they handle it well

I'm getting close to buying this. Rather hear from actual owner then online somewhere, how fast can this go? I've seen it tops out at 75mph that's just hard for me to believe although it is 900lbs
There are still some 2018 floating around with some great deals, I actually put money down on one yesterday. So after all are you glad you bought it and are you still riding it?
Still riding the daylights out of this bike it puts a smile on my face everytime i get on it.... hopefully will have a 6 hour ride to Vermont in July if this pandemic clears up
@@yamabeast5874 I finally got it on Monday put about 50 miles on it. It had been raining ever since so looking for the weekend. @ things id like to refute on all of the other reviews of this bike. Some said it was slow and people wanted more horsepower, they are nuts. This bike has so much low end torque and it is really quick. I am still getting the infotainment system down, a lot to learn. Great Bike so far.
Any updates?
Unfortunately not yet I've been slow to get some things done I took on a new job at the beginning of the year and it has taken up a lot of my time but it's starting to slow down..... The lack of aftermarket parts makes it hard to get things better in stock

Hey Bro..I seen this bike today in the showroom. Nice looking bike but it seems wide for lane splitting. How do you feel about the bikes ability to lane split on the freeway in traffic?
Could it it do it, yeah haha do i suggest it? Eh rider discretion... but it could its very nimble in the way it rides and once you are use to the bike it handles awesome
I do it frequently on my Venture so it's not a problem. Lane splitting is only legal here in Commiefornia. They oppress all your other rights but let you lane split, go figure.

Which windshield is on your motorcycle? Manufacturer and size? I’m 6’1” and I think that’s what I need.
Yamaha only makes the stock Shorty that it comes with and a Medium that it can be replaced with. I have the Medium installed on mine and at only 5'-8" I still get helmet buffeting at highway speeds (65+). I'm not aware of anyone else making a replacement windshield for the Eluder; and the Venture, because of the electric adjustment motor isn't compatible to my knowledge - I asked in a FB owners group.
What after market windshield did you install on the bike?

I'm seeing these for around $18,000 brand new right now (leftovers). I was really hoping they would put the Vmax engine in the new Yamaha bagger. THAT would have been awesome. Still a pretty cool bike. I always have good luck with Yamaha.
So far at 7500 miles i have zero major complaints... just a few tiny things i wish they would have done a little more but over all im in love with it
the torque band on the vmax engine would have sucked ass in a bike like this.

Yamaha give you a cheap bike with a huge engine for less than $20k so they save some money on small details, if you wanted something with small engine and more details could of have get a harley 🤷♂️, also those vents do goes to the engine, man, you haven't really explore your bike, once you do a mod to your bike you need to tune it, dyno tune it, all bikes from factory run lean, they need the tune even more if you change exhaust and way more if you use a better air filter

You definitely can’t give a complete review with only a 1000 miles in a year lol… ppl puts that many miles on a bike in a 3 day weekend
Yeah thats why i didnt make a riding review of it right after ownership i wanted miles on it before i gave in depth personal thoughts on the bike i average a minimum of 5 to 8 thousand miles a year and have run close to 500 miles in a day going on some trips... im not a fan of guys just jumping on a bike and giving it a 20 mile review unless its just intial impressions which in it self still a stretch for me
