    This would all be so great if it was, as you said, "rock-solid". It just sounds like it still has a way to go before being rock-solid. Totally amazing though, just to think about. Thank you for this video and the series. Buddy

    thank you so much. I love this series! Subscribed because of the CC3D stuff. I have just started thinking about building a QAV250 and the Revo seems to be great for that! I'm looking forward to seeing more things around that topic.

    Hi Mr. Painless. I have my revolution all set with Green Sensor alarms so long as GPS is disabled. Flies well. But when I enable GPS and set flight mode 3 to Position hold I still have green sensor alarms, but Config is now red. Red config syas that because I have a GPS assisted flight mode selected that I must enable INS13 instead of complimentary (as explained in your videos) So I do this, but when I go back to the HUD Atti and Mag are now Red and The artificial horizon is going nuts, pitching and rolling. I am using the Neo 6 M8N sold at Hobbyking as "for CC3d & Revolution" The only thing I have not tried is using the flexi port instead of the main port (I will try that after I hit "post" here. Any and all help welcome. Oh when I hover over the the red Atti and Mag sensor alarms they say they are not getting data at all. Its like INS13 is trying to use the GPS for Gyro and Mag. but that cant be right, can it? Or at the very least INS13 is switching off its ability to get data from Mag and Atti. Sighs... Thanks mate :)

    Thank you so much for the amount of time that you are putting into showing us this flight board! I can't wait for video 6/6 to post!
    I do have a two questions for you. What is the difference between the full size Revo and the mini Revo?
    It appears to me that the full size Revo you can plug the ESC leads right into the board. Where on the mini you plug it into the wiring harness which converts it too a different connector to the board.
    The other difference I see is that the Uplink to your computer wirelessly is separate on the mini. where it is built into the full size board.
    My other question to you is can you share in advanced what external magnetometer / new GPS antenna you will be using so I can purchase that.

    • @SocramZ
      @SocramZ 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Adam Rutchik Hey Adam. What you mention are pretty much all the difference between Revo and Mini (Also the size :) ). The Big revo kit comes with a Ublox M8N gps while the mini kit comes with a "OP GPS", It's like a simpler ublox sensor without compass.
      Probably a good GPS would be the M8N with included magnetometer. The problem is that libre pilot does not support ext mag yet (ver. 15.xx). You Have to wait till the next release (ver 16.xx) to use it. Apparently there's a way to compile the new version, but i haven't found it yet.

    Hello! I would like to ask you a question. In Velocity Roam flight mode do I have to configure somehting else, besides the attitude estimation algorithm and to add flight mode to switch? I am asking, because I wouldn't like to find out in the air (for one more time) that I had something more to configure ...! Thank you very much! :)

      Sorry, I've not used CC3D or Librepilot for a while now so am out of touch with it. It looks like a GPS hold mode with a few extras.. I'd look in the forums for more detail. Best of luck!

    Hi Painless, thanks for another awesome series of videos. I understand that Librepilot seems to have stalled, and I have a Revo board for an aerial video quad that I'm wanting to fly using mainly GPS, so I was wondering what software you would recommend migrating over to, and would I still be able to use the OP-Link using different software, or would that become defunct? Many thanks, Chris

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure - still waiting to see which one is 'alive' such a shame that OpenPilot died.. :(

      Fair enough, I've been hanging on for a few months now to see whether Librepilot does get going again eventually, which I really hope it does, but in the meantime I think I'm going to look into cleanflight instead, even if it means abandoning the OP-link... Will let you know how I fare! Thanks again, Chris

    Hi) Can you help me? I do everything as indicated in your instructions, I checked more than once. When I put a GPS Navigation mode (INS13), the function "ARMED" does not work with the remote. I tried to change the input method, and still does not work. If i turn on function "Basik COMPLIMENTARY" its working. What is the problem? my board is REVOlution.

    • @1902hitman
      @1902hitman 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I accidentally found the cause). It's simple!) It is necessary to raise quadrocopter and move it in different directions, then earn stabilization system, and only after the work starts.

    I'm keeping up on this build, and I, too, have been unable to achieve stable magnetometer function. The stock GPS module did autoconfigure successfully using the Flexi (middle) port on the miniRevolution. I pushed the video transmitter to the front behind the camera. The FC is in the center and a teeny FrSky XSR in the back. GPS is up on a short post in the back. I understand that a bigger and more distant GPS/MAG is likely to work well. However, in your opinion what would be the optimal layout to maximize the internal magnetometer function of the stock kit? What generates the most noise in this build - BEC in the power board, FPV transmitter, FPV antenna ...? Any shielding/isolation or power filtering measures likely to be helpful, or is this quad simply too small? FC to the back? I'll keep playing around.

    Hello Painless360, I'm hoping you can help me with a problem I'm having with a CC3D Atom. When I try to run the new vehicle wizard, I get the screen that says to upgrade/upgrade and erase. When I click to perform that task, I get a red letter statement that the board has timed out. What's interesting, is when I click the flight data button, I can see that the board is sending something to the computer, because I can see the artificial horizon move, and the 'compass' swings when I move the board around. It was a cheap board, I think I paid 16 dollars for it, I hate to discard the board for another, when it's possible I'm doing something wrong, or that I might have overlooked something. Thank you for your efforts.

    Sucks about the the magnetometer do you think if you changed the layout maybe with a different non conductive frame and kept the power electronics away from the cc3d revo's board as much as possible that the on board magnetometer would function properly?

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Stephen Gibb The farther away from the other electronics the better. In a smaller frame this is almost impossible. Hopefully when we can use an external mag that will help..

    I'm thinking of getting one of these CC3D Revo flight controllers and using it for an R&D platform. How well do the GPS flight modes work? Stability wise, are the AltHold and PosHold modes comparable to the same flight modes on Pixhawk or DJI Naza?

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sadly not good enough to reply on in my opinion. The loss of the Openpilot project was a setback for the platform. If you want those types of control then I'd go for Pixhawk.. Best of luck!

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Collision avoidance isn't implemented in things like Arducopter yet. I'm not planning on any more videos until something significant changes. Follow me mode needs a portable ground-station with a GPS (smartphone for example) connected to the model using something like the WiFi module on the PixRacer. A very dangerous mode IMHO ;)

  • @XBKLYN
    @XBKLYN 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for all your excellent Revo videos.......I've noticed that when I set the Attitude Estimation Algorithm to INS13 and there isn't sufficient GPS coverage the aircraft won't arm even when my mode switch has selected a non-gps mode, i.e. basic stabilized mode. Either I'm missing something very fundamental or the system has a rather large flaw in preventing flight under poor GPS conditions. Is this a known issue?

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sort of - not an issue, it's a safety feature that means that the craft will only fly if a GPS lock is there.. Best of luck!

    • @XBKLYN
      @XBKLYN 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      A good safety feature at that but it shouldn't be coupled to non-GPS flight modes.....I think that's an oooops :)

  • @SocramZ
    @SocramZ 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Painless. are you planning on doing a in depth video on Position Hold and RTB? I can't make the INS13 Algorithm to work (I have Revo mini from banggood)). I can't even take off, the quad goes crazy. All my alarms are green, calibrations goes smooth. I have good virtual horizon and good north. But when I arm and try to take off it simply does not stabilize. Sometimes is just rolls to one side till the props touch against the floor.
    Using Complimentary algorithm everything works perfect, but off course I can't do any GPS flight modes with that.
    Cheers,

      @alanhennesy2145 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Marcos Paz other people have said this, it sounds like what was mentioned in the video, the magnetometer doesnt work well enough, too much electro interference from the board, painless didn't even try to use it with onboard mag. so i imagine it really needs an external mag/gps unit to work well. .. i might try this soon, when theres more info.

    • @SocramZ
      @SocramZ 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was hoping for a magic "activate this option" solution lol. I guess I'll have to figure out how to compile the "next" branch of librepilot to use the ext. Mag.

Currently, I have a CC3D REVO quadcopter equipped with a M8N Gps. The basic flights without gps is working fine, but when the GPS is activated, the drone doesn't seem to be moving. This link might help with path planner:
      librepilot.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/LPDOC/pages/84672520/Autonomous+POI+setup
      If you have chosen PositionHold all you will get is Hold current position, no stick response except Yaw.
      Try VelocityRoam it will Hold position, and you still have control with stick inputs.
