Taky jsem si řikal co to posílaj za nesmysl, ale pak mi došlo že na letiště lidi asi tahaj spoustu bagáže, takže nějakej běžnej courák by asi na to nebyl nejlepší. Spíš by na to ale měli upravit něco aby to vypadalo jako metro nebo nízkopodlažní bus, aby lidi prostě mohli tu bagáž hodit na zem a chvíli postát, na těch 19 km nemá smysl se tam zabydlovat v těch hipsterskejch sedačkách.
Skvělé video, velmi zajímavé sledovat, jak si to jižní skopčaci udělali, dlouhodobě mě i Rakousko po železniční stránce fascinuje, snad i u nás ve východní Evropě někdy budeme mít napojení hlavního města na letiště a taky nějakou tu "Kočičku express" tam :D
Díky moc! A to je jen jedna varianta jak se dostat na letiště (a k tomu nejdražší). Jinak tam ještě jezdí příměstské vlaky a Railjety. V Praze se asi jen tak vlakem na letiště nesvezeme, obávám se že trolejbusem to skončí :-D

Thanks for the review Pete - I was only aware of the railjet service from the main station. It seems expensive compared to the railjet but the ability to check in luggage is great - there is a similar service in HK. CAT also gives a convenient connection from a different part of the city.

I know the airport train in Hong Kong, I've taken it several times, for me airport express trains are easier to use in most cities outside Europe, and I think it's the same for non-Europeans when they fly to Europe.
How to get the most expensive trip from the airport to near the city. The CAT takes you to Wien Mitte. With the fast REX Connection from Airport you have more options. And its way cheaper. I recommend 24h cards. NIce video btw!

Yes, this train looks brand new, but this service is operated since 2003. I deliberately chose a train at a low-traffic time and also I chose the carriage far from the platform stairs (and upper deck, which is worse accessible for people with luggage). That's a reason why my carriage was emptier.

3:03 i only took the cat train 2 or 3 times in my life, but i assume the coach with a driver's cab in the front (opposite end of the train as the locomotive) has a more roomy toilet for wheelchair users. i would be surprised if the cat does not have them, because the other double decker trains in austria have that configuration too

Jo, to já tady většinou Railjet z Hbf, jinak jsem to tam i tuším uváděl i s cenou pro porovnání. Ten CAT je asi hlavně pro lidi, co si udělají odbavení zavazadel už v terminálu Wien Mitte a pak to nemusí řešit na letišti. Jinak co jsem pozoroval, tak většina cestujících byli turisté. Tuším, že pro držitele předplatních kupónů na Vídeňskou MHD, ÖBB zákaznických karet a KlimaTicket jsou jízdenky na CAT train za polovinu, to už se některým lidem může za tu úsporu času při cestě z centra vyplatit.
Zajímavý vlak. :D Akorát jaksi nechápu systém odbavení na nádraží Wien- Mitte, když jedeš s CAT. To jako povede pás se zavazadlem až na letiště? Nebo se to kufry nahážou do vlaku a na letišti to z vlaku vyloží a nahází do letadel? Dost mě to vrtá hlavou.
Na kufry jsou připravené speciální kontejnery a jeden z vozů (řídící vůz) má ve spodním patře nákladový prostor na kontejnery. Na letišti se kontejnery vyloží a kufry jdou klasicky na třídírnu stejně jako kufry odbavené přímo na letišti. Kufry dostávají stejné čárové kódy jako když se podají na letištní check-in přepážce.

The way i see it is that this service is not very interesting for locals because they have a Yearticket or similar for all vienna lines so they won’t pay extra money just to check in earlier. On the other hand tourists businesstravellers and similar do highly profit from that because they don’t need to wory to get to their accommodation
Nic way to get to the airport if you are in a hurry. Yes, the 12 euro price is a bit hight at least for me. I am never in a hurry so the 4.30 euro ticket on the slower train would do me just fine. Thanks for the vid and the ride. 🚆
