You can pretty much go anywhere around your home & have great subject matter! I normally record the majority of my flights, although I edit out the biggest percentage of it, I do so mainly because once in awhile I capture something that otherwise I would have missed. Great tips, especially using the drone for gimbaled footage!
That’s a good point! There are times when I will record everything. Usually especially if I’m trying to film wildlife since they can be very unpredictable as to when or where they will appear.
I'd like to see you explain the 180 rule and show us how to apply it. You have a way of explaining everything and I'd appreciate the tips from one of my favourite teachers
Thanks for putting together this series of videos. As someone that has done drone video for quite a while now, it is nice to get back to the basics and refresh on some of the basics and to learn from others. Keep up the good work. Subbed the channel recently and will continue to follow and learn form your videos. The fact that your in such an awesome place as Alaska does not hurt but there is Beauty in nature to be found everywhere. Looking forward to watching more of your videos as time allows
@@JakeSloan oh your not cheating What your doing is inspiring others For me here in California the challenge is to get away from all the people and find new locations and “Photo/Video” opportunities
@@JakeSloan for years I have filmed and videoed all up and along the California Coast and now sadly most of my favorite places are all posted with no drone signs
yeah I have been a few places when visiting family and it's unfortunate that so many beautiful locations on the coast there are off limits for drones...
Thanks Jake !! 5 excellent tips, I’ve used the handheld method before with success and think that is a very good tip for any beginner. Keep them awesome tip-torials coming, love your channel!!
Great idea Jake you always have very solid tips this video anyone can use to help them. No matter your skills. Ive always been impressed with your video’s Thanks so much my friend
Would love your take on the QuadAir Drone, the least expensive drone in the market (?), and whether it would suffice for novices. Have you reviewed it yet, of part of another video? Thanks!
Really like your insights Jake. I see you are using the mavic 3 pro. I just recieved mine, it was defective 😢. Returning it today. I would like to see more operational tips specifically for the mavic 3. Im new to your channel so maybe they are already out there. Keep those clips coming.
Tip #5. When I first got my Mini 2, I was wondering what it would do if I just held it and ended up with epic footage inside the house that I neither have the nerve or the skill to capture by flying it in the house. Not at this point anyway. Revisiting that idea here is definitely a tip to use in the field. Could strap it to my head while on a bicycle, - Cheers
I’d love to see a more in depth video on tip #2. I think it’s a common sense to want to keep the footage smooth, but in reality that’s very hard to accomplish. Do you have any tips to get that result? Maybe specific settings that would help with it?
i've been practicing over and over withOUT using the sticks and it works! it forces you to be very patient and i feel you don't "flick" as much b/c there are no sticks...you slow down/stop much more naturally.
Jake, Thanks for posting this video. No matter how long I have been flying, coming up on 2 years now, I can always learn something new. Great Tips!! btw this is Mike Kelley, I changed my channel name.
tip#1 worst tip ever. what's wrong with extra footage? a 64gb card is like 10$. why would you not record everything? maybe you can use that as b roll. you anyhow cut and paste everything, so why not record as much as possible?
The idea to use the gimbal handheld is a great one! Never thought of that!
It’s fantastic if you need really smooth B-Roll!!
Tip 6. Live somewhere spectacular with amazing scenery like you do.
Lol well it sure doesn’t hurt! 😜.
Good job Jake. Edited answers are best. Quick and to the point, with less & more valuable info is best.
Thanks Al!
You are the best on youtube!!! Thank you !!!!!
Thank you very much!

It does and thanks for noticing! Glad the tips helped!
Love it - thank you Jake - Cheers!
My pleasure!
Cool idea! Short and sweet and great tips! Nice job!
Thanks Paul!
Liking and sharing this video! Especially #4 bro it’s so important to show “scale” in the drone footage so the audience can relate to it! LOVE IT!!!!
Thank you sir! I appreciate it a lot.
Love the 5 in 5. Thanks!
Thanks a lot! I’ll keep them rolling out hopefully lol.

Thanks a lot! I agree sometimes I feel like I’m cheating with the beauty Alaska provides but you work with what you have lol.

Thank you much my friend. I hope you starting to feel better and have a speedy recovery!!
Ha ha, tip #1. I always forget to press , so when I remember, I just let it run.
AHAHAHAHA yeah then best to let it run
Would love your take on the QuadAir Drone, the least expensive drone in the market (?), and whether it would suffice for novices. Have you reviewed it yet, of part of another video? Thanks!
I haven't checked it out yet but maybe I will
Thanks for a great tips!

Lol you could definitely strap it and use it like a ground gimbal camera
I’d love to see a more in depth video on tip #2. I think it’s a common sense to want to keep the footage smooth, but in reality that’s very hard to accomplish. Do you have any tips to get that result? Maybe specific settings that would help with it?
I have more videos about how to fly but getting smooth really just comes down to lots of practice. Maybe I will do one in the future

Ahhhh Hey Mike! glad to help out and I feel like I'm learning new things every day too lol but that's good. Cheers!
sweet =)
I hope it helps!
Has anybody ever tried handholding a drone for a client shoot? 😂 great tip though for personal projects, I sure did do it myself a few times!
I have done it a few times when I needed smooth footage but didn’t have a gimbal handy! Works perfect!!
🙌🏽
Thanks

You do you but I would why record all the jerky movements (making footage unusable) while you line up and frame up a shot?
