    Great video for practical every day use of the Mach-e. I think I’d be inclined to use the button rather than hot words to activate an action.

      Yeah, I find myself using the button a lot, too.

    Crossing my fingers that Ford updates the voice to be able to turn off climate...baffled they didn't implement that from the beginning. Having to tap the screen 3 times just to turn off the AC is very annoying.

    Given how frustratingly bad the nav system is in our 2015 Explorer, I really hope that the new Mach-E has a better system. I didn't take the opportunity to test that when I test drove a Mach-E, and I would love to see how it could handle things like "Find a charger nearby" or "Find restaurants" or anything else that would be commonly desired while driving.

      I still prefer using Google Maps in Android Auto but SYNC is actually surprisingly good. I do have some problems getting it to understand where I want to go, but once that is good it does a great job.

    I wish there was a way to turn climate on or off with a voice command.

    I'm torn. I'm one of those folks who lives in both Android and iOS worlds. I prefer the UX design of Carplay, but having the Google Assistant at the touch of a button, able to control functions of my home and ask Google questions is also attractive. If I could somehow get to the Google Assistant through Carplay, that'd be the sweet spot for me.

      I think you can setup a shortcut in the iPhone so you can then do " Hey Siri, Hey Google." I'll give it a try today.

    Great post, Patrick. Thanks. I think I use the press and hold more than the call words. I haven't gotten along very well with the Ford system but Siri and I get along as well as ever. I need to look at that Ford call-out list that you demonstrated...a little closer...that might help. I have had considerable frustration with the wireless PROJXXXX WiFi connection (which I think is common to both Apple or Android)...anyhow, I get considerable interference and disconnect whenever I am close to power lines (above ground on poles)....it's really bad if I'm streaming but is surprisingly bad when playing files located directly on my phone (so the signal only has about a foot to travel). Personally, I think they did the wireless wrong and should have defaulted to Bluetooth for music. I have tried plugging in my USB cable...but that hasn't improved things much. I don't think this is a Ford problem but rather a problem with the way wireless playback has been implemented by Apple/Google/Samsung/Android. Also Ford-Alexa (which I think they are going to change in the Fall) works but must be set up by hand and therefore cannot be switched to while driving. It currently requires the USB cable so does not have any of the wireless associated problems. Finally, I really need to take a page out of your book and use voice commands to get to Sirius stations. The find-with-finger version is way too distracting UNLESS there happens to be a short-cut card in the lineup that only requires one tap.

      I haven't had any issues with disconnects using Android Auto. I rarely use Apple CarPlay, so I can't vouch for that.
      The voice commands for Sirius are really neat. I just need to remember all the Sirius channel names. I'm new to satellite radio and don't remember all of them.

    Thanks for the excellent videos! I've been taking some regional road trips in my new Mach E, which is my first EV. Your travel vlogs helped get me comfortable with the viability of extended travel.
    I have had an issue with Android Auto losing audio. It's now happened three different times and I could not get it resolved even if I stopped and turned off the car and rebooted my phone. I've since learned that I can reboot Ford Sync by holding down-volume and next on the right steering wheel pad for 10 seconds. I've tested this while navigating using Google Maps and listening to a Google Podcast. It takes several seconds, but it does reconnect to Android Auto and will then resume the navigation and podcast. I'm using a Google Pixel 4 that is on the latest version of Android. I mention all of this to ask whether you have had similar issues.

    • @MachE_VLOG
      @MachE_VLOG  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had that happen once, but I was only on a short drive while running an errand so I just ignored it. When I got back in the car the next time, it was working.

    • @artiep
      @artiep 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MachE_VLOG I just took a 6 hour trip and it happened twice. I was able to reboot Sync using the down volume+next trick and it fixed the issue both times while I was driving. I did get an Android Auto update to the app on my phone while on the trip. I'm not sure if this affects Android Auto while driving. This is the only annoyance I've had so far and otherwise love the Android Auto integration and other features like hands free driving!

    I like Android Auto voice commands via Google Assistant when combined with TH-cam music. NAV to with AA is super nice. Only problem I experience is when I have both phone and AA activated at same time, the youtube music becomes glitchy after a while. I have Samsung 20 Fan Edition.

    Hey guys I’m excited to say that I’ve got my mach e and I am absolutely loving it. But I do have to say I am completely aggravated at the moment. It doesn’t seem to connect to Wi-Fi which I think is the issue on why I can’t get my phone to work as a key. I have tried everything and that phone as a key option does not appear on the app.

      Oh Donny sorry I missed this! Congratulations on your Mach-E! Did you manage to sort this out?

    • @MachE_VLOG
      @MachE_VLOG  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I missed this too! Still having issues? I think you can also get PAAK to work if you have good cell connectivity -- i.e. not in a garage and in good coverage area. But in any case, I hope you got connect to WiFi.

      Hey guys! So long story short. I loaded the phone app before I got the car so that I was ready to roll off the lot! When I got the car I was not seeing the notification on the 15 inch that my phone sent info. I told the dealer I would figure it out because I wanted to drive it already. lol. (Also they weren't much help.) I continued to fumble my way around trying to figure it out at home when I realized my car wasn't seeing my wifi. I ended up doing a Master Reset, and boom! it saw my wifi and PAAK was able to talk to my car.

    after 7 months, I am supposed to take delivery on my Mach E next week. Any tips on first things to do after taking possession?

    • @MachE_VLOG
      @MachE_VLOG  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Drive it like crazy! I think the biggest thing is to try out the different driving modes and see what you like before you get too used to any of them. Also, give One Pedal Driving a go for at least a couple of days before you disable it.

    • @garyhoff7754
      @garyhoff7754 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MachE_VLOG I did get to drive a demo RWD unit and I kind of liked the one pedal driving, probably will use it once I get used to it. Mine is AWD since I live in snow country but I have really been frustrated based on the length of time it took. I actually ordered the Premium extended range unit back in early November of last year. Thanks for the tips.

    I am not sure I understood, CAN you actually say "hey siri" and it will pick it up with Carplay on?

    • @andersonpg

      Yes, you can just use Hey Siri. If it isn't working, check your settings: www.carplaylife.com/feature/how-to-use-siri-with-apple-carplay/
