Thanks for the honest unbiased review. Just ordered The Skyzone 02X's for $285. Now I can buy $300 worth of batteries with the money I saved from not going with the Fat Wallet HDO's and modules.
As someone who uses 3d the skyzones are fantastic (but not without flaws). It only really shines with slow close proximity flying (such as exploring trees) and the best thing is that the stereoscopic view is translated by our visual perception into a higher resolution with spatial cues that really situates you in the scene.
As for vtx's -- you can use any pair of video transmitters or cameras. Just make sure they match. I use the lightest vtx's I can find (whoop style) and have built a 75mm based 3d craft for exploring trees and tight areas -- THE EXPERIENCE IS AMAZING. Everyone who has tried it is blown away. The key is use -- it makes no difference for fast/large quads. Build small and fly slow -- it's the most fun I've ever had flying slow :-) (and I'm a usually an aerial maniac)
This sounds awesome. Is there any more info you can provide? Build details or links etc. I've never seen anything like this but have wondered if it's possible. I'd love to build one of these myself. Thanks.

I use the skyzone's dual camera with 2x akk vtxs -- pretty simple really. Add a 5v regulator to handle the extra vtx/camera.
Do you have affiliate links to the antennae? I'm interested in the periscope one.
My 02X doesn't recognize the sd card(under 32GB) well.
Only once in ten times it suddenly recognizes.

I thought I answered the question in the video? 17:33 clearly not enough for someone who bought the skyzones.. I did the same test with the aomway v1s against rapidfire a few weeks ago and received 0 complains... wonder why that is? perhaps its their bigger FOV or the super cap to save the DVR footage. or maybe the simplicity that has got you riled up.
It’s not useful since we know rapidfire would win and it’s not in the same price category.
The new attitudes maybe since those are built in.
I agree many reviewers are crazy over fatshark because of service. But beginners just want cheap it’s hard to resist!
i think it was a great idea to compare the 2. consider someone on a budget getting into the hobby that wants to know if he can get away without blowing all his money on goggles and a reciever. andy explained that FS has much better customer service and showed how you are paying hundreds more for a slight gain in reception.

Great review... Quick question.... will the Fatshark diopters fit the SKY02's ???
I have been running SKY03s (updated version) since September of last year. I prefer them in EVERY way to my buddy's HDOs except for RF performance (he has Rapidfire). The colors are better (with the in-goggle settings tweaked) and I like the larger field of view and form factor. Using diopters for my poor vision made the blurry edges not a factor at all. I have a very wide face, and the faceplate fits me perfectly. I plan to mod mine with a Rapidfire module eventually. I get no light leakage and I find them very comfortable. I got them for $380, which I thought was extremely reasonable for a setup that didn't require a module (and the stock RF performance is VERY good, just not quite Rapidfire).
To each their own, as my buddy likes his HDOs better than mine (which is why he bought them!) But to the people who drink the Kool-aid and say stuff like "HDOs are GOD and everything else is shite", quit it. You may be driving people away from a product they might prefer.
The front camera is a HUGE selling point for me (and propably for all with highly impaired visoin): I use it all the time because otherwise I have to lift my goggles and put on my glasses, just to have a quick look for something. It's just too impractical for my impaired vision. With the camera I just have to press a button: BOOM! I have sharp vision in 1 second, instead of fiddling around for 10 seconds with my glasses and goggles.
edit: without glasses I can't even see my drone in the grass laying in front of me

For those box goggle users, get a few cheap pairs of reading glasses in a single frame style with plastic frames. Find out which one gives you the clearest view of the screen, remove the arms and hotglue the lenses in, just above the nosepiece of the goggles. My Eachine 800d worked perfectly for this. There's a video (Tiggers RC?)
Would you choose this over the hdo? Question is the screen closer to the eye like the hdo but just lower screen size or screen is far way like the dominator v3. Thanks
id choose the HDo for having a super cap to save footage as well as accepting external modules that are more advance than built in ones. Id also pick them for their service and the bigger 4:3 image.

There's not much difference other than the skyzones does not save the DVR if the battery is pulled

Anyone know if you can get the headphone Jack working with the hdmi input . I got a hdmi cable so I can plug my gaming PC into them to use a sim with the goggles . The audio is being sent to the goggles down my hdmi but no sound at all from headphones plugged into the jack . Any ideas ?
No the headphone jack is linked to the internal rf only

Such a fatshark fanboy, Andy! ;) Fwiw I'm still using my Sky02s after 2 years and have absolutely no problems with them. Reception is great, DVR is solid, battery life is good, functionality is all there. I don't regret buying mine. I think though it comes down to your opening statement. The real reason I use them is because they fit my stupid face well, where others do not seem to.

Good goggles, just got some. Menu/buttons take a little getting used too. Figured it out without the manual. Comfortable, good image, Reception is fine, quality is good. Will you lose signal behind trees, of course yes but so does rapid fire. I got the 02X as I fly fixed wing too and the head tracking may come in useful. Front facing camera is useful, but maybe cause it new to me.Thanks for the review.

I own the fixex Sky03.
Preferred them over the HDOs because of my low IPD. 1.5mm made the difference for me.
Reception is great.
The OSD and built in receiver do great and are very handy.
Good goggle and by the time I got them, the best option for people with low IPD.
Only the EV200d were another option but had a lot of bad reports about the screens having failures
Finally someone that agrees with me about that Useless LED strip they had one the Sky 03s! It always bothered me that I would have to pay for something I hated and thought was for kids. I thought it was the Bacardi fan lol!
The purpose of that vga camera is to mantain the line of sight wile fly without the spotter espetialy whan new rules are implemented
It's not got a high enough resolution for that it's so you can see around your feet. It has much less resolution than an fpv camera
I used to fly with eachine ev800. They served well for 3years if not more... But once I got the Spektrum Focal V2 goggles with diversity... Oh yes! The range and comfortability and compatibility is in comparable! So yes, if you're looking for best immersive experience, you should try a couple different ones and then decide. Do not decide on something just because someone said this is the best! It might not work for you at all. We have a saying: Measure twice and cut once!
If you wear contact lenses, can't you use them in stead of diopters?
Been waiting for this review! Already brought the 02C goggles about a week ago although no stock at banggood until August now by looks of it .
I have 2 questions for you if you have the time to answer them !
For the last year I have been flying with the cheap eachine ev100 goggles which are under £100 . So pretty sure anything I buy will be a major improvement. Like you I fly 4:3 . The ev100 has a 4:3 screen and most people wont entertain the tiny FOV . These new skyzone can be put into 4:3 and you say they are flyable like this even though it makes the screens smaller by cutting the ends of . My question is will I get a bigger picture with the sky02c goggles in 4:3 mode than I do on my ev100 goggles ? I'm sure you had a pair for review years back !?
My second question is would the battery off my ev100 be ok to use with my new sky02c goggles ? Connector looks the same . Any reason it wouldn't work ?

Got my skyzone 02C delivered today and when I opened the box. They had put the 02X goggle in there. Happy days 😊😊. Not that I'm bothered about the camera or head tracking but still bonus ☺️☺️
But does the front camera work?

@@AndyRCchannel oh... Just looked and the 3d settings are there too. I think maybe the C ones are selling better and to keep up with demand there putting the X ones out instead. Apart from that I can't see why they would do it. Be interesting to see if other people have had the same thing happen.

I am so happy with my hdo ever since i got them (1st release) and have never cared to look at any other goggles since. I hope everyone would just accept that they would actually save money going for the more expensive fatsharks because they wont be bothered with any other goggles anymore in the future.
It's hard to beat the HDO/Rapidfire combo...that is a top shelf to look down from, but such a GREAT INVESTMENT. I recommend it for anyone, you won't go back
Agreed! And I've got to say, the top of the line stuff is rather cheap. I mean, for less than $2k you get a top notch 5inch quad, the most expensive goggles with a good module, a good transmitter, lipos, charger and all the tools needed to keep you in the air.
If I compare that to other hobbies I've have/had it's laughable.
That beeing said, I did start out with the cheap eachine vr007 goggles and uav futures $99 build.
Hey Andy hy well I did receive my ev300d eachine googles in the pass I bouth antenas because I knew I was going to get the googles but the antenas that I got was with the wrong connection well i think i got two with the right connection now let me tell u i did turn them on and they seen pretty good and since I havent finish my kwad I couldn't seen anything yet but the icons seems very clear to me anyways I thank u for the reviews u did on then that was the reason why I bouth methem.
I just watched your review on the Topsky Prime 2 goggles. Am I missing something, but I think the Topsky performed better than the SkyZones from watching the flight video. Am I missing something? The TopSky seemed to have a lot less break up than the Skyzones. Thanks in advance.

Goggles are so personal, I actually still love my f640 goggles more than my other goggles and just wish they had DVR.
nigelsheffield if you really want, just buy an eachine dvr module for like 10 bucks! It’s pretty easy to install and there’s probably a tutorial for your goggles
@@gautamkrishna7421 I have that DVR module set up on my fatshark attitude V2 so I use those when I want to record.
The f640 are so nice and small and have internal battery but no video out for DVR and I've not seen any one who has done the DVR mod on those.
nigelsheffield if you’re handy with a soldering iron, you can nab a video signal from the rf module on the inside once you open it. That’s what people did for the eachine vr006. It’s an easy solder job once you find the video signal

nigelsheffield open it up and take look (be a bit careful) and you’ll see an rf chip. Then, if there’s a number on it, look up the data sheet for the pinout and you’ll find the video out.
Generally a good review as usual Andy, Totally agree that the menu system is fiddly at best, a joystick type of system would be better in my opinion but I can confirm as a skyzone user that you get used to it, that's not the point though you shouldn't have to! One point I do take issue with is the Aomway recommendation, I also have a pair of commander V2's and in comparison to the Skyzone's the receivers in the Aomway's are garbage, I would much rather have a clanky interface that takes a bit of getting used to and better performing receivers than the other way round. The 3D stuff is pretty good at giving depth perception, it's not like watching a 3D film but it is quite useful and something which could be handy on a cine whoop type quad which you are maybe not flying great distance but in and out of tight spaces but again you are right that you then lose the diversity. The other issue with the 3D is the size of the camera and VTX but there's nothing to stop you using 2 smaller cameras and 2 separate smaller VTX, maybe the all in one whoop style camera/VTX systems.
check a couple videos back where i did the same test with the aomways v1s and the results were the same as the skyzones RF wise. Which is why i recommended the V1s. Larger FOV, has a super cap, are lighter and cheaper. Screen isnt any better or worse and easier to use.
AndyRC I understand, I did watch the other video of the v1S, I don't think they are a bad goggle for the money but I definitely notice a difference in performance with reception between the Skyzone and Aomways I own using the same antenna (menace RC on quad and goggles), maybe I've just got a bit of a duff pair?
Support is what you get with fatshark. I may end up getting the 02c.
I wish I bought these than the v5s. It gets worse signal and black screen drop outs when my eachine vrd3 would never would in the same situation
Have you done all the latest updates and using the right setting? Not had any of those issues

Skyzone. My best goggles as others don't work with my face / eyes. That said customer service seems to be indirect through seller in China. Ive had sellers claim not to receive returned items and lost them entirely.
i personally think the 02X/C are almost as good as the HDO, especially the picture quality, which was a total surprise since its not even an OLED screen.
sure the HDO beats it, but the difference in screen/reception is not as big as the one in price. the HDO also need another $150 for a rapidfire module, this is not out of the box reception.
so for people who are starting out and are more or less waiting for the next generation of goggles, a sky02c is a smart investment.
Is say that's more down to camera tech than the screens. When the hdo came out we were still using cc'd cams so we benefitted from the contrast. But I can't tell the difference in quality between the v1s and the skyzones other than the screens being a tad bigger

My eyes are around +2.0. I bought an inexpensive pair of plastic lens reading glasses from the drug store and cut out a nice rectangle from the middle of each lens using a Dremel tool. They fit right into the holes on my Fat Sharks. A drop of hot glue in the corners and it's good to go.
I'm surprised you need a Plus prescription with fatsharks with their optics favoring distance?

It is a relatively common eye defect.
Some people just need a plus correction to see at a distance.
Unfortunately, I belong to these people too.
However, manufacturers of optical devices do not care, because most people need minus correction...

It's the runcam sparrow mini which sadly they stopped making. Bad mistake best cam they have made

@@AndyRCchannel The screen quality/optics of the Sky02 are just hands down better, albeit smaller screen. The contrast and sharpness of the HD3 is meh. Fitment is fine on either with slight foam mods. Maybe the Att v5 is a good compromise
@@SickocrowAU sadly i never got any but if they were smart you would think they would use the same screens? Cant say i noticed anything special about the screens against any other goggles I have. I think the cmos cameras have made the screens less important when it comes to picture. even the oled screens are less effective on a cmos camera compared to a CCD
I use primarily Racer2 and Eagle micro cams, for racing and filming respectively. The HD3 whilst bigger just looks swampy. Dunno maybe it's my eyes.

Brother you have always been a Fatshark Person. And even thou I always respect you for your hunest reviews. This time I think you should just put them down when they wanted you to review their googles. One could put it this way. Skyzone are playing it Fear, insted of coming all the time with different skyzone names ( like fatshark does) to always get the people to buy more and more of their product. They have made something that they stand by and just try hard to make it better and better, that is maybe the reason so many of us would Prefer Skyzone over Fatshark. From the get go, fatshark did not gave a sh..... for the Customers just making money was important. And it is Fatshark fault that googles had and stil do have very high prices compare to amount of elektroniks and time which has gone to them. ( sry my english, althou I really think if everyone start spelling everything like me then it was much much easier to write and read everything :) ) Love your channel

I can’t afford Fatsharks so have ended up with second hand Skyzone V1’s which I love. The button and menu arrangement is annoying and I’m surprised they are still annoying people with that. My V1’s also have the very annoying front camera which is a waste of space and unfortunately the button is in a position where I keep pressing it!

The dip does look super cool and I've alwayse thought the VGA front camera was neat. But I'm really happy I went with the HDO's and the Furious TrueD-x module!
Banggood just recently upped the price on these substantially. For some reason on the cheaper model
surprising as i dont rate them that well but other channels do I guess.
