    Even during a period of malaise, I would always gravitate toward land yachts like this one. Not everybody understood, but that was just the thing that I was always into!

    I've never seen a New Yorker without a vinyl top...That has to be super rare....My grandfather special ordered a new "74 Imperial LeBaron ( same body style as this New Yorker).....He pretty much ordered everything there was to order,dual power front seats,leather interior,sunroof,tow package,limited slip rear end,etc....My father has it still.👍👍👍

    What a stunning example of that most classic LUXURY car era!! It's just so like MOPAR to offer consumers the leading edge in outrageous vehicle esthetics which includes this FANTASTIC black n blue combo! 1976 was an extremely pivotal year for American automobile manufactures. We saw body changes, some of the most iconic designs ever, right across the board. Our bicentennial year ROCKED HARD!

    Love that New Yorker, what a great combo. The Chrysler keys are the correct way up, moisture doesn't sit in the lock pins and freeze in the cold.

    That car is a beauty! I love it! Such an unusual color combo.
    I love the land yachts of the 70’s. Nothing like them. My grandfather had a 72 Mercury Grand Marquis Brougham and it was about the same size.

    Back in '95, I bought a '76 New Yorker, 4dr, all white w/white vinyl top..and maroon cloth pillow seats! 😉 WHAT a floater! Big balloon tires, Wonderful car, bought it in Griffith, Ind. Back then, cars like THESE were daily drivers and beaters; mine was lucky, straight body, no rust..only $350; I had that car for 3 yrs. There was a '72 Buick LeSabre, an ugly orange '75 Monte Carlo, a '73 Bonneville 4 dr, and a '68 Chevy wagon. Those cars were $400 and up..today, all those vintage machines sitting there would be a "classic car lot! " 😉👍

    My 1st dealership job while I was in vo-school was a C-P store and I prepped these for new-car delivery.
    These were an Imperial in all but name.

    The blue interior is stunning!
    The 76 Chrysler New Yorker was the 74-76 Imperial, with the standard features placed as options, hence the high end quality.
    Torque Flight Transmissions are bullet proof .
    The New Yorker could compete with any luxury car of the era , with confidence.

    Nice car! Chrysler had a lot of problems with the Lean Burn that we change our cars over to Electronic Ignition without Lean burn. The car should have hub caps on or road wheels. The New Yorker had options of 400 or 440 where Imperial was 440 standard and smaller rear window. Too bad the owner never drove and enjoyed for he is saving for someone to have fun it. Thanks for you video. Front Nose is fiberglass made by Budd Plastics and LOF Plastics Detroit. No vinyl top looks different.

      400 was only available in certain markets due to emissions 1976-77. 400 was available nationwide in 1978 [last year for the C-body] in an effort t meet CAFE standards.

      As a kid, if a car did not have black interior I didn’t want anything to do with it! Now I have this great appreciation for cars like this, and even the uglier color combinations out there that most people shy away from. Funny tastes can change!

    What a beautiful car.. cars back in the 70's like this Chrysler New Yorker, Cadillac, Oldsmobile, Buick, and Lincoln were real luxury cars. The interiors were plush, comfortable, and quiet. They handled great, and the ride was awesome. The luxury cars today can't even come close. A darker blue interior would have been better and had chrome wheels.

    9:18 - Notice the lack of "UNLEADED FUEL ONLY" on the gas gauge. This car could be filled with leaded gasoline (which was cheaper than unleaded) up until 1996 (when leaded gas was banned by the EPA).

    That is a cool car I use to have a 1978 New Yorker it was a 4 door hardtop like that but it was white on white leather and it had a 440 and it had the chrysler "Road Wheels" and the car drove like you were sitting on a cloud I did a couple long trips in the thing and I was never sore or stiff after driving for a few hours like I get with other cars it was a great car and wish I would of kept it .

    It is a beautiful car. I remember when these were new. I'm not sure if you realize this, but the 1976 Chrysler New Yorker went up market as did the Chrysler Newport. The New Yorker took over the old Imperial body, and the Newport replaced the old New Yorker. I wish Chrysler would have retained the Imperial instrument panel. It was what I would call very elegant. It was definitely more upmarket than the carry over New Yorker instrument cluster and dash pad. This is back when you could order individual options. Pin stripe delete, etc. Another option this New Yorker is missing is a factory vinyl top. Probably 99% of New Yorker Broughams had a vinyl top. Very cool find. Im loving it.

    • @jaymartell2967
      @jaymartell2967 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Dash and instrument panel are the same as my 75 imperial

    • @rickloera9468
      @rickloera9468 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @jaymartell2967 That's a miracle then because the Imperia dash was specific to the Imperial. The guages could quite possibly be the same and in the same location as New Yorkers, but the design of the dash pad and surrounding areas associated with the dash are different. The dash was more squared off and angular then the New Yorker. It had a richer look to it then New Yorker.

    It’s pretty car the color combo is unuasual that shade of blue interior is right for you if that’s what you like that shade of blue is a little too nippy for me even if the outside was blue if you like it that’s all that matters I would prefer black interior or a tu tone dark gray & light gray interior

  • @79tazman
    @79tazman 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I love how it don't have a vinyl roof because 99% of them cars had a vinyl roof and that one don't so whoever ordered the car was thinking ahead because vinyl roofs are just a headache once water gets under them.

      I believe it was found above the fuel tank when the previous owner removed it to drain old fuel out from sitting for so long. Sometimes they were put there as well as above the glove boxes inside the dash.

  • @billmagorian490

    The interior is mint, the paint looks good, and the chrome bumper and waterfall grill are perfect. The problem I have with 70's and most 80's cars are the anemic horsepower of the motors no matter how big the engine. What's with the wheels? This car could use some Chrome rims and new tires.

    • @RudysWorldOfficial
      @RudysWorldOfficial  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That thing still cruised down the highway beautifully at 75 mph, it was great. Once they painted the rims, he wanted to leave it like that for a while before he put the original hubcaps back on.
