Nice review, it's also what I would say about the PSVR2 (was rocking a G2 before too). One small addition: if you own a grahics card with a so called VirtualLink connection (nothing more is the Sony adapter) you don't need the box and you can plug the headset directly to the GPU with the USB-C. A lot of current AMD cards have this connection.
a 2080ti will have the virtual link port but this is a 4080 headset in my opinion. I like my fidelity and think the 3080ti is a Rift S perfect match.... every thing is so smooth and solid. The quest three wants also wants a 4080 in my opinion
Im assuming that higher resolution accounts for barrel distortion then? If that’s the case, I wasn’t aware of that lol. I’ve been running 70% res to avoid anti aliasing, but if that’s isn’t even full res ill have to mess with it again when im home lol
@@gspiderextras3586 Yep. Unlike other VR devices that expects 1.4x the resolution, PSVR2 is 1.7x. There's a discussion on this in Reddit before when the adapter was first released.
There is a good video here on YT about why VR headsets need a render resolution way above the native screen resolution to use every pixel properly. Since linking videos doesn't work often; just search for "How barrel distortion works on the Oculus Rift"
Im pretty sure it does? Honestly virtual desktop is a piece of software i havent really needed to use before so im not 100% certain, but im pretty sure its native steamvr so it should work.
Its good but Steam VR just doesnt work with everything. Wish I could run it like an oculus headset and be able to run games like the luke ross mods. I have a psvr2 boxed with a pc adapter for sale as I still love my rift S and do see the point giving up so much user ability to spend more money on comfort pads and such... which feel needed. The PSVR2 hurts my nose a little. Its also feeling heavier and less balanced than the original PSVR or the rift S. My set up was totally fine on an MSI z790 wifi A board and was happily able to use Bluetooth smoothly. Personally if you want display port clarity getting a rift S is not a bad idea... especially seen as I got mine boxed recently for only £50 and with controllers that aren't cracked... most are by now sadly. PSVR 2 controllers can be confusing when in the headset if you let go and try to put them back on.... never get that on the oculus controllers.. a little niggle. they do feel good though.
Regarding "running the PSVR 2 like an Oculus headset," there is a program called "Revive" that allows any headset to be ran as if they were a Oculus headset and the PSVR 2 has been confirmed to work on it. You can watch a video of it in action if you wish to see what it's like: th-cam.com/video/0WB9vCTg-dI/w-d-xo.html

@@leahwells5692 of course, the more, the better. But tbh, even my RX6800 (in the range of a 3070Ti) can run the PSVR2 well, at least 90Hz.
You're wrong about the resolution in Steam VR. The 100% resokution is actually correct. The resolution is 1.7x of the stated resolution of 2000x2040.

ill definitely give that a watch tonight, i appreciate it!
keep up the good work saw your windows vr video and this is just as good really like your content!
I don’t have hands so I can’t use it😞 (don’t question how I’m holding my cane)
The cane is like a minecraft dog, kinda just follows you and teleports whenever you go too far away
It’s all in the hips mayne
Does it support virtual desktop ?
Im pretty sure it does? Honestly virtual desktop is a piece of software i havent really needed to use before so im not 100% certain, but im pretty sure its native steamvr so it should work.
Its not a standalone headset, u cannot use it without a cable
