I named my daughter Ahlaya (ah-lay-ah) and everyone says it as Aliyah but I love that it’s not common.

I was thinking more of „Effi“ (might have been short for Elisabeth) which is the title protagonist of a famous 19th century novel („Effi Briest“ by Theodor Fontane)
Edit: It seems, according to the internet, there’s actually an Old English root on the name Effi. In Germany it (was) used on it’s own or as s nickname, p. Ex. for Elfriede.

Must be a girl thing but I've been obsessed with baby names for as long as I can remember. And we waited 18 years before we had our baby. We chose to not know the gender, pick both names and told no one. Her name is Romillie (rom-ah-lee) Elia. Love Romi and Millie as nick names. We call her Romi. We have been trying for 2 years I have pco so it's taking some time but when I was pregnant (miscarriage) we found names off the bat we both liked 1 boy name 1 girl name and that's what we are going with :)

My baby is due September 21st. I find out the gender on Monday. If it’s a girl, her name is going to be Noelia Jean. I got sick on Christmas morning which is how I knew something was up. I’m pregnant with my first baby and I realized that:
1) as much as I’ve thought about baby names, actually applying to my child was like “do I REALLY want to name him that after all?”
2) once my husband and I settled on one I decided to tell my family right away only because it’s a little bit of an usual name (at least for my culture) so I wanted them to get used to it because we weren’t changing our minds (I love our sons name 😄). I do agree though with avoiding people’s opinions (the whole I wasn’t asking, I was telling).
3) I like nicknames for names. I like “Benji” instead of “Benjamin,” “Katy” instead of “Kaitlyn” or “Katherine,” etc. Do you really have to name them the full name? I guess it depends on how cutesy it ends up being but yeah, I prefer nicknames more.
