If you're trying to find a middle name, the best tip I've come across is to yell their whole name like you would if the child was in trouble. If you can't easily yell it then it's not the right middle name.

I thought I was the only one
I do this as well I was originally going to name my son Jedidiah Douglas but that did not yell well I ended up naming him Jarnez Douglas which I love and have never heard before. I came up with it after watching the comedian Arnez J, my son goes by JD which was the plan all along.
2 second Tip, add your child’s name as a contact in your phone. That’s how you get Siri to recognize it!

My girls name is Etta - old school name I never hear anymore! Named after a great aunt. Love the way it looks in cursive.

We just had our first baby 8 weeks ago. Didn’t know the gender through our pregnancy. We had a girl! We named her Matilda Louise. So many nicknames! We call her Tilly, but figured we could also call her Tilly Lou. And when she gets older she could go by Tilda like Tilda Swinton. Of course, there’s also Matty, or Mattie. The boy name we had on deck was Shepherd Nearing.
We are naming our daughter Silvie Nicole. We love the meaning of Silvie, ‘forest’, and Nicole is my middle name. It breaks the syllable rules, but we love it anyway.

I really like the name Bronwyn. It’s not used much anymore from what I understand but it sounds like such a strong yet feminine name.

We named our daughter Alita which could be shortened to Ali, Al, Lita, Lee. We actually call her all sorts of things. I definitely see that not being a name you would choose with your daughter's names.
My cousins name is so unique but has been becoming more popular… Brenley! Love it ❤️
When I was pregnant with my daughter my husband and I wanted to do a mash up of his name (Andy) and my middle name (Lynn) but we felt that "Andylynn" looked way too messy so we opted for the spelling "Andelyn". It is pronounced "An-duh-lyn". Andelyn is a totally unique name and we have never met another. We get compliments on her name all the time. The only frustrating thing is that it is often mispronounced as Andy-lyn or as Add-uh-lyn so we have to correct people a lot that it is AN-DUH-LYN. Her middle name is Rose. Andelyn Rose, we love it.

My name is Celeste!💙 I was so tickled pink and surprised when I heard it come up because it's never really on baby name lists! But I'm so grateful to my mom for picking it, it's so pretty (tempted to use it in my child's name...👀)

We named our daughter Eloise and love the nickname Elsie instead of the more common Elle or Ellie.
We picked a name in the top 10 and I wouldn’t commit to it even though I liked it for probably 18 hours after she was born. I was quizzing all the nurses and doctors who came in to my post partum room. The paediatrician said, “hmm I don’t have a lot of patients with that name” and I finally was fine with it. My husband has a top 10 name and he doesn’t think he had that bad of an experience growing up with it. Everyone can spell it and knows how to pronounce it. Whereas I had to correct people or just silently Seethe when I was too shy, because Hayley is so often misspelled. I’d love to get more creative with future Children’s names!

-Also, there's a baby name lady on TH-cam with a daughter named Evalina (ev-ah-leena), which is like Evelyn, but not popular. And you could call her Evie!

Edie is the sweetest nickname for Edith! Also Matilda is a very old school Australian name that a lot of girls here have with Tilly as a nickname.

Daughter's name is Kyla and we love it, but it's one letter away from a much more common name (Kayla) which trips people up sometimes. Can't fault them for that but it's one thing I didn't consider before choosing her name!

Aoife is pronounced ee-fuh. She is a warrior in Irish Mythology. Love. Also you said my number one name that is so rare in the US I pray everyday that it doesn’t take off. My favorite boy name of all time that I’ve wanted to name my son since I was 8 and was an obscure Irish name is now popular. I don’t know how it happened but I am devastated because the more rare a name is the more I love it but It has to be Celtic or welsh for me.

Having no nickname opportunities for myself growing up, I was adamant about having a versatile name for my daughter! We went with Juniper actually-it’s cute/playful but also pretty and naturey. The only problem is everything thinks I’m saying Jennifer or Jupiter when I introduce her 😂

Our daughters name is Saelah - pronounced Say-la and her middle name is Estreya - pronounced Eh-stray-ah. She is half Latina and her middle name is Spanish for star. Also I know so many people / TH-camrs who have named their daughter either Everly or Saige thinking that it was unique. Now I can’t think of them as being unique before I’ve heard it too many times.

We have a 4 month old named Allison. My husband gravitated towards popular names from mid to late 80s, basically names of girls we all went to school with. I loved the nickname Allie. Now trying for #2. He still likes Caitlin (Cait) or Evelyn (Evie) but I am digging Lindsay lately just not sure on Linds as a nickname.

Late to the party with adding names, but a name I love also happens to be the name of a girl I went to high school with. And if I named my child that, it'd be very obvious where I got the name from because she's the only person I know with that name. (Albee) I did meet a previous coworker with the name, but he had the male version (Albe). So it unique, I'd just be nervous to do it. I guess they could take it as a compliment though?

You said you love city names my husband and I called our Son Brixton which is a place in South London we partied it up big in Brixton, when we travelled to England after getting married in India. When I saw the name on a website for up and coming boys names we both instantly loved it and that was the boys name and if we had a girl would have been Reese. We named our daughter Ashlyn Daye. Our boy name was/is Camdin Ashar its and anagram for our names Amanda+Chris.
I have an Alexa (she’s 18, so before it was cool 😎), and Ella (13) and Vada (17mos) Vada ALWAYS autocorrects to Veda or Vader 😂 Also, people always think we are saying “Beta”. I don’t care. I love her name. It’s from My Girl. As for a nickname, we call her Tootie. 🙌🏼😂😂
