@@patrickfinlay2074 you've got to tell me the origin story on Highland cow prints! They are everywhere here in Canada (1 in every home decor store).
Side note, our family calls them "Caribou!" because when my husband was a toddler he was on a trip "home" with his parents (who had immigrated to the Northwest Territories in Canada's far north from Britain), and the only large animal he'd seen was a Caribou. When he saw Highland cattle, he exclaimed, "Caribou!" to the amusement/confusion of those nearby.

You awakened a memory. When I was 12 my mother suggested we might paint my (pink--never my choice before or since) bedroom. She allowed me to choose the color and I went with pale cultured butter. Then she made floral drapes in a very sophisticated pattern with that same colour as the background with soft, subtle browns and russets and touches of muted orange. That room also faced east and I loved it. Never tired of it as it was so classic and utterly timeless.

I hunted high and low for a modern yellow neutral. Finally found it! It turned out identical to the yellow I used in 2000! Still love those rooms! Just bought a new home. Yellow living room/great room! It sold me over all the gray they were showing me! Other houses weren’t selling. This house sold in 2 days with multiple bids!

A hill I'd never thought I'd die on: I love my glass dining table! My mom moved in with us and brought her furniture, and I tried to incorporate her stuff so it would feel like "her" house too, and one of the things was a completely glass table (including the base) from the 80s. I never liked it growing up, and wasn't excited about it AT ALL. But man has that table grown on me! It's PERFECT for puzzles and board games because things slide across it easier. It is a fingerprint magnet, but it's SO easy to clean. I also like that it's non-porous so it's easy to "deep" clean too. Several nieces and nephews have cracked a skull or two in the past while running through her house, but I don't have small kids or grandkids (yet) so it's not a concern currently. 👍

I have really developed a soft spot for chrome in the past several years. I have chrome Bertoia diamond chairs and I have 3 chrome paperclip stools. They’re a fun accent to our home. ☺️ Makes my heart happy.

Absolutely agree with you on glass furniture and chrome. They can go away as far as I’m concerned.

Oh Nick! I have had glass coffee tables for decades! I moved into a different house two years ago after a major life event. My current house has a EQ3 cube table and a Calligari dining table also glass and wood, love my modern, non glam glass mixed with wood pieces. I live in a renovated fifties bungalow, big windows and lovely spaces, I think the glass works! Yes, fingerprints, hello Windex, but I don't worry about water rings! Love the show.

I live in Germany. I envy your houses with high ceilings and lots of space for decorations. My appartment is 900 square feet. I must keep everything neutral and make it my own space with antique furniture I bought 40 years ago. I breng in Colorado with cushions and flowers

For anyone with babies that feels that just have to have that squared off glass coffee table with pointy sharp edges, I hit my head on the corner at age two and still remember the terrible medication that my parents had to hold me down to apply! I also still have a giant round bald spot in my hair that I have had to strategically work around whenever I put my hair up.

Ah memories. I have a giant scar right between the eyes from a brass capped night table at four or five. Was I supposed to be jumping on their fancy four poster? No. Did I need stitches? Yes. Was it the most fun ever to dive bomb it and try to do flips? Yes, _yes_ it was.

@@itsmainelyyou5541 Haha! Weirdly, I don't actually remember the hitting into the table, or what preceeded it... or, maybe not so weird considering the near my temple location of the scar...

Shout out to marble coffee tables too! Super in fashion recently (again). My mum’s friend fell right into her coffee table and broke it in two - they had to go to hospital :/ I look at them all now and shudder. Surprising how many young families go for them?! Seriously??
Also glass coffee tables - a 1990’s movie with Emma Thompson & Kenneth Branagh - Dead Again - watch that and you’ll look at glass coffee tables and shudder too…!

The other choice that I am rethinking as a dog parent is all these pretty antique pieces with carved legs and feet. Which now need to go to the furniture doctor because we had a boxer mix. (I don't regret it, buuuut....)

Love hearing about the new trends that are happening. I find the creativity interesting. But, I will always be mid-century modern/Scandinavian. I am excited about a coffee table being created by a local metal artist. Now that is fun! Your home will be amazing when completed! 👍🏻👍🏻

The revival of chrome and brass tubing, macramé, wicker, and basketry hanging lamp shades reminds me of the villains' houses in late '70s - early '80s cop shows. Like the drug kingpin's beach house in Hawaii Five-0 or something.
