Yeah - potential is huge. But I'm not sure the business strategy they currently have will maximize the potential. I'd love to see them become a player though. It really is a grading company for collectors which is refreshing.
I think with the right management and capitalization that the sky is the limit for TAG grading. I'll definitely going to send them some cards just to see what the user experience is like. All the AI, tech stuff is cool, but the slabs alone could change the game just by the aesthetics.
I do think people want strict grading, but I also think what they really want more is their cards to be all 10s. I think if we're all honest, what we want is to know the exact condition a card is in when we go to buy it and I think the TAG grading g scale provides that with more transparency than the other grading companies. I appreciate you watching!
It’s actually non- subjective grading which is what collectors have been asking for ever. Also RIP to PSA artificially manipulating population counts. So these are the people you want to send your Brady’s and Jordan’s to.

Great video! I found this company a few weeks ago and I’m super intrigued in their product and process. I cracked 10 from my PC to submit to them to see how BCG and TAG compare grade wise.
I just saw these guys on instagram and the technology is pretty sweet. They can view the topography and blemishes really well. What im a little hesitant of is the shift thats happened in grading toward not just a preserved pack fresh card but obsession with perfect printing. Is that really what grading cards is really about? There seems to be this double goal of putting a card in a slab, one to preserve it but also to determine perfection in printing. When I look at a Babe Ruth graded card there is no printing quality in the conversation. We are looking for a well preserved card. i think the print perfection takes away from it a little bit as a collector even though I do still want that lol
I appreciate you watching. It's a very promising grading company for sure and I'd recommend them for PC cards and for cards under $500... In the future maybe even more expensive cards. But take a wait and see approach for sure.
On paper, I LOVE how crystal clear the slabs are, the weight, the 1000 pt scale, the ability to see exactly why it got the grade it did, and the philosophy of taking subjectiveness out of grading. Do you get any sense on how others are reacting to TAG, and if they have what it takes to last the test of time and actually grab significant market share away from PSA and the other big hitters since you made this video 8 months ago?!?
One thing I did not like about TAG was how long it takes them to ship the box and sleeves out to the customer for us to ship back. For me it took them a week.
I was always a BGS guy. However that has changed over the last few years to PSA. However I have to say I really like the idea of taking out the "Objective" aspect of grading. We've all gotten a card back and were disappointed in the grade. We look on Ebay and think "mine is better than that and it's a higher grade!"
Exactly. If TAG can get the traction, I can see this really helping buyers know exactly what they're buying and really help people grading cards know that they aren't just getting snubbed by a grader having a bad day (or a company that only cares about ensuring those who spend big bucks get big grades).
Same…what I loved about BGS was their transparency and the sturdiness of their slabs. Unfortunately their operations has completely shyt the bed over the past 3 years.
I love TAG. I think given the money involved this should be required. However, since it’s not PSA will rule. A TAG 10 is so hard to get, but if you get a 10, a 10 is a 10 is a 10 with them…bit extremely hard to get a 10 when PSA just randomly hands them out.
will be interesting when folks start cracking out slabs from other grading companies for comparison grades. how can you not get behind a totally objective and accurate AI grading process?
2:00 yeah odd because Dan the Card Man swears the hobby doesnt want it. Just had this conversation about it. I said grading is dumb because the number is a mystery. I said if they included reports then maybe it would be different. He said no nobody wants that lol
Dan the Card Man is nothing but a click bait channel. Never trust a channel that talks about cards yet never shows a card. He doesn't even have his own stories, he just regurgitates stuff from X and Sports Cards Radio, makes a 12 minute video for something that could be said in 2 minutes and acts like he's doing the Lord's work for the hobby.
So what if the slab is a gem mint 10 and on the QR code it says tag instead of a number? Also, this slab looks to have a black background with white lettering
Only problem is tag is for collectors. People who care if a cards over/under graded. Psa is for flippers and resellers, who dont care if its properly graded, its all about the number on the front. They seem to be the majority of the hobby at the moment. Untill people care why it got the grade, instead of just what the grade is, things wont change.
You're not wrong at all. I think there are still more collectors than flippers/investors but PSA was first to market so long ago that most people simply know the brand and assume it to be "the standard" - that's a big hurdle for every other company to get over.
I have to agree, PSA is big du to big collectors and resellers making it the standard and not wanting their card values to decrease. I stayed away from grading for a long time. Tried a few companies and just didn’t think it was worth it but tag is the first I’m finally highly considering making my PC Cards are tag…. It’s not some dudes opinion of my card. Seem way too many terrible grades on psa cards…..
I want to get cards graded but was put off from PSA being so dang expensive and having to join a club to get reduced pricing and a minimum submission. TAG is a godsend.
Great video. Honest review. TAG already catches resubmitted cards. If any cards are cracked and resubmitted their system catches it and gives the card the same grade or lower (if new defects are present). Basically you can’t get a higher score on a resubmission. As for comps brother, I beat PSA comps 100% of the time.
Yeah I feel like it would be very easy for TAG to catch a crack and sub based on prior imaging so, great to hear they're using it. As for comps, I may have to do a random sampling of 10 cards on eBay to see, but it wouldn't surprise me if TAG is close and even beating some PSA 10s. That said, I am confident that over a large sample size, the PSA 10 is still king, especially at the high end. Now to go look at some TAG 9 Trout RCs vs PSA 9s... It's the perfect card to comp. Thanks for watching!
I would love to add some TAG graded cards into my PC. I only see one listed for my PC player and it's $120 overpriced to comps. I guess I need to cherry pick some gems and see if i can send in some. I love the look over any grading companies. But I would only want to do it at $14 per card.
Yeah, good luck getting in a drop. They really need to expand that side. It's limited to about 5-7K cards per drop. I've tried getting in 3 times and keep missing. But at $14, it'd totally be worth it.
It all depends on how they scale. SGC really is t grading all that many cards (about 10% of what PSA does). Their pricing model is going to hold them back though. But even since this video went live they've become more competitive on price.
@@1CentSportsCards I found some but in reverse. Cracked PSA and Beckett to tag. This one video the guy couldn’t believe he got a Beckett 7.5 on a card and he sent it to tag, it came back a 10. All of the others were pretty close. I think one PSA went from a PSA 8 to a Tag 9
Whoa! PSA is $25/card unless they are having a special. Then it's $18/card for Club Members. And then, you can only submit the Style, era, or game cards they specify.
Yeah, overall I think TAG is still a little expensive when compared to SGC, but I really like a lot of what they're doing. It's all about scaling for TAG right now and if they can pull it off, it feels like they could become a serious player in the grading market.
Was kind of interested so I checked it out. Double the cost to get the 1-1000 score. Yet it requires ZERO extra work on their part. Saw that and it made my decision for me.
So the reviews are on hiatus... I'm reinventing the whole concept to be more about "what's good, what's not, what's interesting and should you get in" Just trying to figure out how to present that info in an entertaining way that stays informative.
At the end of the day it’s up to us as consumers and grading to help populate their registries with cards - PSA’s become far too subjective and we as collectors need to shift the market ourselves
Great breakdown on TAG. fully agree with that business model, it's a great concept but probably not something that will come to fruition. I really like the look of the slabs and feedback you get so will definitely be sending some of my PC items to them.
Yeah, the little touches they're doing - Beautiful slabs, grade transparency, the set registry, the packaging - all exactly what collectors have been asking for. I really feel they'd benefit from simply focusing and grabbing market share and generating awareness of the grading breakdown. The costs to get I to LCSs is just not feasible to generate profits when you're only grading around 10-20K cards a month.
That would be awesome if they could get into Walmart. I love the kiosk idea at a card show all day. I think that'd be a perfect opportunity to grab market share.
… just an additional thought. If a company like Fanatics were to acquire TAG with Fanatics’ massive industry influence and brand power, it could give more credibility to the AI model and rival PSA’s antiquated grading approach. Would be interesting…
Flipper = Loathes TAG as they only want 10s not an actual grading. Crack and resubmit is part for the course. Hobby enthusiast = Loves TAG as they want accurate grading. Hobby Collector = 1/2 & 1/2 They prefer higher grades than accurate grades. Overall, MORE probable more accuracy with TAG. If you Pump and Dump.......Any grading house that gives 10's like "Carter's has Liver Pills!" Save you $$, Grading is the biggest Con/Grift. Use that $$ and purchase vintage HOF players. Imagine the collection you can actually have over time.
The only bad thing its going to take a while for the prices to can any value. Old school PSA collectors aren't going to buy TAG graded cards and have the inconsistency in their collection. Which sucks the hobby needs a grading company like TAG and its nice that you can look at the grade and nit question anything on why it was graded. Psa and their pop control on key cards should be considered fraud
Even though a TAG 10 with a 980 might be a more perfect card than a pSA 10, people might actually not like the 980 score. People just want to see the 10.
Well a 10 is a 10, but a 978 10 would be considered less flawed than a 951 10. And with so many 10s in ultra modern cards, differentiating between them is probably a good idea... Or at least the idea behind TAGs grading scale. I appreciate you watching!
@@1CentSportsCards fair enough I just like the sturdiness of BGS. Sometimes I feel like the PSA slabs could snap in my hands. Which is actually great if I want to crack and resubmit.
I agree with many in the comments. I did not read all the comments though. The one thing i did not see in the comments though is money. Most of the big spenders to PSA and other grading companies will never make the switch. Simply because they would be losing money. When TAG grades a card 8 (or maybe lower) And PSA gives it a 10. That is a lot of money left on the table that the big spender will be losing. There is one card. You can go look at sportscard investor and look at the 1952 topps Mickey Mantel. "The Holy Grail of sports cards. The PSA 10 the nicest one ever known to mankind. Then look at the SGC i think was graded 9 or 9.5. It is a much nicer card. But there is like $40,000,00.00 dollar price difference in the card. The PSA has a surface problem on the card. All down thru the bat near his neck. How this graded a 10 is beyond me. So the biggest people in the market will never let something like TAG take over. As it takes away the power they have.
@@1CentSportsCards No dealer takes them seriously. They are 30 years behind the big boys (PSA, SGC, BGS) CSG is WAY ahead of them. Nothing against them, but spending money on the smaller grading houses is a waste.

Wow very nice slabs….
Only thing I dislike about TAG is they do drops have to catch it perfectly to send a big order.
Forget getting set up at local LCS….Fanatics will try to take it over. Imagine if they made these available at local Targets and Walmarts instead 🥳
Love it
Flipper = Loathes TAG as they only want 10s not an actual grading. Crack and resubmit is part for the course.
Hobby enthusiast = Loves TAG as they want accurate grading.
Hobby Collector = 1/2 & 1/2 They prefer higher grades than accurate grades. Overall, MORE probable more accuracy with TAG.
If you Pump and Dump.......Any grading house that gives 10's like "Carter's has Liver Pills!"
Save you $$, Grading is the biggest Con/Grift. Use that $$ and purchase vintage HOF players. Imagine the collection you can actually have over time.
Their slabs look nice
I would wear that armlet though 🤣
🔥👌🔥🤘💯🤘
You guys remember taxis?
The only bad thing its going to take a while for the prices to can any value. Old school PSA collectors aren't going to buy TAG graded cards and have the inconsistency in their collection. Which sucks the hobby needs a grading company like TAG and its nice that you can look at the grade and nit question anything on why it was graded. Psa and their pop control on key cards should be considered fraud
Even though a TAG 10 with a 980 might be a more perfect card than a pSA 10, people might actually not like the 980 score. People just want to see the 10.
All my PC cards are going to TAG when I can snag a drop
They are beautiful slabs. I'd totally recommend them for a PC collection. Good luck getting in the drop!
@@1CentSportsCards I have 1 submission in currently
Im never impressed with new grading companies especially HGH garbage slabs. Tag blew my mind.
A ten is a ten big dogg why else would it be a ten then maybe should have got another grade
Well a 10 is a 10, but a 978 10 would be considered less flawed than a 951 10. And with so many 10s in ultra modern cards, differentiating between them is probably a good idea... Or at least the idea behind TAGs grading scale. I appreciate you watching!
If TAG wants to be taken seriously they need to be able to grade RPA’s. Grading to scale has been challenging for TAG
Slabs quality ranked for me is
1) TAG
2) CSG
3) BGS
4) PSA
5) SGC
I agree with everything, but I would take PSA over BGS.
@@1CentSportsCards fair enough I just like the sturdiness of BGS. Sometimes I feel like the PSA slabs could snap in my hands. Which is actually great if I want to crack and resubmit.
sgc is dead to me
We all want perfect grades but sounds to anal to me
Thanks for sharing your opinion
To sell a TAG 10 lower than a PSA 10 is insane, PSA gives out 10's like candy, PSA is for the scammer side of the hobby.
'Promo sm'
People that care about a red psa bamner are also the weirdos thats care about blue texts.
Spoiler alert: no
Explain your concerns...
@@1CentSportsCards No dealer takes them seriously. They are 30 years behind the big boys (PSA, SGC, BGS) CSG is WAY ahead of them. Nothing against them, but spending money on the smaller grading houses is a waste.
