- In Battlefield 2: Special Forces, players choose to fight as one of six different Special Forces soldiers: Navy SEALs, British SAS, Russian Spetznas, MEC Special Forces, Rebel groups and insurgents. Armed with the latest special forces weaponry, players can take control of any of the game's 10 new vehicles to engage in major conflicts with up to 64 players.
Additionally, persistent character growth allows players to continue to rise through the ranks. The material penetration feature measures weapons' ability to fire through barriers based on their composition and players will need to know the difference between concealment and cover in order to survive. Team play features allow players to enter the action on the front lines as part of a formal squad, or work behind the scenes in Commander Mode to direct the strategic assaults of their teammates.

only problem is, I tried to come back and play it again and I did for about 3 weeks and now i cannot access the launcher. Annoying coz i even had my old stats

how did we go from this to bf2042? this game still beats it, in almost every way. a perfect game for me would be a remastered bf2 with expansions and with some bfv stuff added such as prone on your back and ammo/med deposits u can pick up. i can still hear the MEC loading screen music for karkand and those random enemy boats spotted when clearly there were no boats around and running into hotel base knowing someone is camping that small alley with c4. i also miss the promotion/medal/ribbons rewards you get with the voice over and the drums, peak gaming
You are 100% right brother. What a time this was, playing BF2 and BF2 Special forces I LOVED it sooo much. Strike at Karkand was my favorite map
When cooperation's get large enough they become shitty since it changes from creating a product to only caring about making money. Greedy idiots took over and change things for the worse. DICE runs now like a headless chicken no direction except for maximizing monetization. Battlefield had its own identity and now they just followed trends its started with battlefield 1 when they changed the system to emulate other games more.
This is why I stick as much as possible with mid size companies and with software I try to use as much open source versions. I would recomend if you like good games try strategy games since they have not become mainstream. The gready jackasses has not gotten their hands on those games yet. This is why most strategy games has still a modding comunity while the FPS genre does not.
Baldurs gate 3 is a great example of this but also with divinity original sins 1-2. Then we got ratten reich, homeworld 3 and sanctuary shatterd sun coming our soon. Creativity and innovation only happens with small to mid size companies because they allow for experimentation and taking risks. While giant cooperation's only try to emulate what is popular rather then trying to innovate themself.
For me game quality never went down since I switched after battlefield 1 to fully strategy games only. FPS games are dead to me by now.

This is pretty much the same for most big names from the old days - Dice, Infinty ward, Blizzard, Bethesda.
The people who made the games we loved have either retired or been priced out of the job by younger, cheaper, less qualified devs.

They sure knew how to make trailers back then. Battlefield 2 was amazing. I played it so much.
These were the times, I remember I got my BF2 copy when it was released and I got all the expansion packs separately.

We want it to be hardcore, indepth and true to the franchise. Like the older series and not copying bullshit games like Cawadooti and stop being a customisable pile of junk with awful mercenary like factions that does not even represent the real thing.
Battlefield was all about the gritty feeling and close to realism now its just a God awful child friendly arcade game.

So many hours spent in this game... Watching this intro makes the memories flood back: running home from school to finish the homework in record time, then logging on MSN to gather my friends. We'd then head over to the Team speak server we had, and play BF 2 for hours!

This should make a return! (in a military Battlefield) Many of these gadgets have already been remodeled and animated in Frostbite 3 for Hardline, don't see why they couldn't make their way to 4!

I was 3 yo when I was watching my dad and brother playing bf 2. I really hope dice will make a remaster of bf 2 and special forces.

I remember playing some epic matches on devils perch. It was night, no one could really see what was going on, smoke grenades, it was insane! I hope they re-release this game on steam.

The Addon was so fucking amazing and it was so sad that there are nearly 0 servers still running with this addon, because all choose the best BF2 maps (fairly theire are a quite a lot).

Servers for BF2 has shutdown permanently, I dont think there is User made servers in BF2 either
go to battlelog.co and they'll set you up.
project reality mod is still bf2 but standalone, their servers are healthy.
