battlefield shows that good graphics and photorealism isn't just about the engine's fidelity, but the developer's passion and vision. The small effects go a long way in selling the photorealism, the vignette around the screen as though you are looking through a real periscope, the emissive effects of the onscreen HUD, it all screams passion. Modern Battlefield looks nice but its just a mock of what the old guys did, it hasn't been as good since.
Art direction goes such a long way that to this day I find Battlefield BC2, 3, 4 and 1 to be miles better looking, more realistic and moody than 2042. Battlefield V is in a weird place where it's sometimes more immersive than BF1 and sometimes goofier than 2042.
Because arma and similar indie games kicked butt when it comes to simulation. AAA titles can't even come close to a strong modding community that has actual input from veterans.
You played the Russian version of this mission? You get stuck in traffic as part of a 40km convoy, watch your buddies get ambushed by Nlaws and Javelins, and as your reach the city get taken out by Artillery.

I mean the Abrams tanks could be disabled by a IED or well placed rpg shot. Just look at the real operation "Thunder run" during the battle for Baghdad. Or the anti Insurgent operations after operation "Iraq Freedom". And also the American tank core during OP "Desert Storm" flanked the Iraq Republican Guard from the left. The Abrams tanks went throu the desert thanks to the brand new technology at the time. Today known as "GPS" or Global Positoning System. So they basicly got Into the rear of Iraq tank divisons and started blasting. Also the Iraq tanks were basicly empty casemates sold by the Soviets. Shells were also of lower quality They lacked a lot of features and were outdated T72 tanks compared to the Abrams. Abrams tanks had better armor, longer main gun range, thermal Imaging (see throu smoke and dust clouds) faster speed, and better anti tank shells.
Also this battle never happend against Iran. This Is totaly fiction. But what really happend Is the "Battle of 73 eastings" Against Iraqi tanks In 1991.

This is what I liked to see. Cool big army shit. Not the stupid shit like "kewl gam3r sp3c 0ps" dudes we don't give a shit about who spout one liners before shooting some guy in the head.
When battlefield games were impactful. This is what I miss.
That’s what I find preferable about battlefield over call of duty… battlefield has always been hardcore grunt style shit. Not specialized units or CIA shit.
@@InfiniteSith136 Well, It was, but not anymore
@@victorforce2 2042 is nothing to me, try again.
I miss battlefield having more to offer than multiplayer.. Bf3 campaign and co op was tight as fuck bf4 story was cool too, remember looking for every dog tag throughout sp just to flex
@@KijCiWOkoSuko Sam man I loved bf3 and BF4 campaigns.
The color palette of this game was great, visuals still look good
Oh yeah blue, brown and greys. Real great color palette that fits in perfectly with the early 2010’s.
I enjoyed BF 3 but going back to it they really used a lot of those post process effects to hide imperfections in the graphics. It’s aged bittersweetly
Seen this gameplay footage at tv store display while i was 10, first thought it was film and its awesome.
And then realize its from battlefield 3 at my 17 (the game i hope can play)
Thanks god i can play BF3 at 2022 with my 750TI, while other people playing AAA game with RTX.
Be Grateful is key to happy life
So well said. From Czech?
11 years old and looks better than Battlefield 2042 and almost looks better than most other games that come out today
Interesting that this showed up in my algorithm today
sh*t is about to get real
I got it now :)
Hard to believe Gen Shepherd from MWII is doing the interrogation here, kinda ballsy of DICE to do a tie in like that
I remember getting bf4 and feeling so immersed with the earbuds, so glad to see the graphics really do still hold up to this day. Amazing series that definitely was beyond CODs formula
The last BF game that had an actual enjoyable story.
@Aveteran Player and at last its just subjective
@Aveteran Player bf1 is a terrible game and bf5 too they shouldn't be released the last good bf was bf4
@Aveteran Player I respectfully disagree with everything you said.
@@samfisher9661 What? You on crack? BF1 bad? BF4 the last good BF? Battlefield 1 was amazing.
BFV had a rough start, but it turned into the best BF game to be released. Best mechanics and gunplay to date made it amazing and i enjoyed every second of it.
@@samfisher9661 bf1 is a top 3 bf game hell is bf4 even good
This game hits differently now with whats going on in the world.
This is peak Battlefield. Never forgot about this game’s campaign missions and gameplay.
The franchise used to be so much better than COD.
Easily the best and favorite mission in the battlefield franchise and my standards when it comes to ground vehicle gameplay.
Not everyday you feel the Power of Columns of Abrams
in the actual they would be pretty unprotected too.
ecpecially when enemy tanks passing by completely ignoring threat
BF3 was where this series peaked, great singleplayer great multiplayer.
I love the sound of the LMG in this campaign. Really realistic. Even the shells hitting the (interior? of the) tank.
Its a HMG, not LMG.
@@comradepivot4570 "HMG: Belt fed, usually water cooled, minimal portability, fired from tripod only. Examples: Maxim, Vickers, Hotchkiss 1914. Evolved into guns of caliber 12.7mm - 20mm, like the M2 and DShK"

Oh and theres also the fact that when you select it, it says 7.62 LMG.

Coming back to this mission now as an actual tanker the only thing disappointing about this is they just don't get the whine of the Honeywell 1500. No matter what you're doing that hum of that gas turbine is a constant.
Anyone just get randomly recommended this in 2024 😅
Yup.
As Iraqi when I play battlefield 3 it’s just give me special feelings
When I see us airstikes videos on military Iraqi targets ;I have special feelings too
Really bro
Sort of like when I watch shock and awe footage from 2003.
@@NM-ho5qt damn thats a good comeback 😂
This is “war on Iran” not Iraq but ok
battlefield shows that good graphics and photorealism isn't just about the engine's fidelity, but the developer's passion and vision.
@@floreroafloreril1458 Battlefield V feels that way because that was when the original DICE team were starting to part ways with EA.
“I it’s gonna be alright miller you’ll back for his birthday” hits hard when you know what happens 0:08
i still ask to this day why the gaming industry doesnt do anymore campaigns like this
Monetization?
Because arma and similar indie games kicked butt when it comes to simulation. AAA titles can't even come close to a strong modding community that has actual input from veterans.
Because tacticool + big explosions + wokeness = profit
Because it takes the most amount of time and effort
Because having China or Russia as the bad guy in a AAA entertainment product wouldn't fly right now.
You played the Russian version of this mission? You get stuck in traffic as part of a 40km convoy, watch your buddies get ambushed by Nlaws and Javelins, and as your reach the city get taken out by Artillery.
Yeah that's funny but like, this also wouldn't happen IRL as Iran is way more advanced than Iraq was. It even exports combat drones which otherwise would be used to bomb these tanks, as much as the tanks in Armenia were bombed to oblivion by drones.
You watch to much tv
@@AFGuidesHD Iran also hasn't had a very good military track record recently lol
@@AFGuidesHD you think Iran would have much military infrastructure left after the air war which would happen well before tanks hit the sand?
@@kills456 Yeah Iran also has alot more advanced weaponry and AA than Iraq did.
Basically anyone that thinks Iran would roll over as easily as Iraq only needs to look at how everyone thought Russia would roll over Ukraine.
I miss when games was like this. Fun, engaging, and interactive.
The atmosphere, shading, lighting, shadows and graphics all are freaking awesome 😍👍🏻👌🏻✌🏻️
Missions like this help me remember that this game actually wasn’t bad.
Playing games like these in high-end immersive VR seems like an insane experience.
Why didn’t the A10s destroy the missile battery at 4:46? Why did the tanks have to go in?
that was what i was wondering lol, they strafed the whole area but apparently missed the big ol honking missile launchers and couldn't make more passes?
I think it's far easier to deal with missile batteries that is already fixed on firing at a position than a bunch of defensive armament around the compound
you know that in reality the A10 wouldn't be able to get there in one piece and these tanks would have been targeted from far far away right?
Way ahead of its time. I re-played this in 2021 and didn't feel like its a 10 yr old game
Same here! Also replayed it in 2021.
Battlefield 3 has aged like fine wine my lord
I don’t like how this just popped up in my feed
"it's not brutal and barbaric it's self defense bro, we're the US we could do whatever we want wintout getting criticized by the whole world" 🦅
One of my most favorite Missions in the Battlefield Franchise... sad where we ended up. Bf3 was great!
We had it so good. If I would have known the future was going to be a game like 2042 I would have really slowed down and spent a lot more time on the older games.
And this became really relevant
2024 31 OCT
people always compared CODs campaign to BF. Looking back now with more experience, this game's radio chatter and tactics were more realistic than my 17 year old self initially knew.
COD was bombastic and over-the-top. BF was gritty and realistic. How the mighty have fallen.
I loved this mission thunder run , Iran war, 2014, battlefeild 3
American tanks: Took over 50 shots and still keep going.
Iranian tanks after the first shot: Imma dip
The difference between fully upgraded and well maintained M1 Abrams versus dilapidated T-72s. And plot armor of course.
@@bernardoohigginsvevo2974 ok but we are talking about more than 50 shots not couple
@@bernardoohigginsvevo2974 those T-72s would break havoc if they were on a hill, waiting to ambush the side of abrams tanks, T-72s are bad at armour, but their gun are very accurate

This game was better than any marine corps recruitment ad
Ngl it is💀
Marines are some deadly creatures
True. If I had been in US when I first played the game I would have enlisted (had I been a bit older, at the time I was 14). The game left a lasting impression on me
...Thanks for the post! Dope game.
There is quite literally so many stories of actual troops that you can recapture and recreate in a campaign story, the stories on the Battlefield. They literally forget what they are about.
They had an opportunity with Battlefield V but decided to use it to do woke campaign missions instead.
This sound design till the day I die. It’s the best ever done. Unbelievably immersive audio. Remember playing this in the game room at my mom’s house with the audio CRANKED and lost my mind
This was actually an easy mission to play especially if you know how to shoot and hit the target
Ahh 2004-2012. The gaming Golden Age
LOL flat surfaces to drive tanks on do not exist in Iran. It is full of mountains like Switzerland with amazing ski slopes. And just like Switzerland it is hard to conquer
They do exist but they are more inland. so the tanks must first land on the south coast or try the Saddam way and it's both impossible as we have seen in the past.
Late 90s, early 2000s there was a game called panzer front, in that game there was fictitious tank called the Aureole or something, it was jet powered. This is what this tank reminds me of.
I’m pretty sure abrams run on jet fuel
And why Dice went away from story based games to making counterstrike clones is beyond me.
Not Dice its EA
I wish bf3 would receive a remaster . I only play bf4 as my modern fps on Xbox and it’s still such an impressive game
when battlefield was still good 😮💨 the effort put in to the older titles was SO obvious. BFBC2, BF3, they had those epic scenes, like this or the halo drop scene, or the aircraft carrier jet mission in BF3
Its crazy how good this game still looks and plays (usually) i would rather get a remaster than play these old bf3 maps in bf4, in all honesty. I know a lot of people really like 4, and I can't say I hate it, but something about it just feels flat. I keep finding myself going back to bf3 on my ps3, there are still a good amount of games online
I was the same way. Still play this game on Xbox now switching to pc just need to get a copy
playing this campaign and the CoD ones back in the day use to just have a crazy real feeling to it idk why but today it just doesn't do it for me. maybe because gaming was so new and shit now its just missions u played before in ways idk. this vid brought back a crazy feeling I use to get playing campaign tho
I like the Hand To Hand Combat in this Game

how bf3 looks very very real after all that time...is absoult stunning ❤

Battlefield 3 was such a golden game. I even bought PS3 to play this.
The grittiness and color of this game still looks better than the fortnite look of 2042.
The battlefeild games hold up so much more over any call of duty they didn’t go down the micro transaction route either like Activision. Well done

Every time someone says something like this...
I will absolutely never get tired of this game, both it´s campaing and multiplayer
TH-cam algorithm really has a sense of humour
Amazing how in the first 10 seconds of the mission we get more character development and depth than in one season of Velma
And who would of thought 10 years after this game the Marine corps would not have a single Abrams left in their active duty innovatory
Game released in 2011 and it still has better graphics and demolition physics than many games today.
Man if only they did a remaster of 3 instead of 2042
At the beginning there is just something majestic about group of tanks going full sped to enemy positions with that music
It gives feeling of power which these tanks represent
"go cover to cover"
*runs straight forward*

Man, DICE used to make great games. Hope they can find their way back to this style.
Is this mission supposed to be a representative of 73 Easting? I couldn’t find any info saying it was.
I think any game that has Abrams running across a desert in line formation is going to feel like 73 Eastings. I don’t think this one was supposed to be a recreation as it didn’t have Bradleys with you, and the tanks weren’t in bunkers dug into the the sand.
