2142 was my all-time favourite BF!! The best version of conquest with the titans, the missile launchers in place of flags, the massive belly guns, the desperate evacuation before the titan exploded, the dogtags logo (i used to take a screenshot of every one i collected haha) for knife kills, the music, the evolution of the spotting mechanic, the gadgets - always said bf2142 would make for an amazing always-on system like Planetside 2 - it even already has titans lol. Man i miss this one. Going back and playing it is tough tho, sooo janky :D

Yes, Titan mode was great, but it sucked when they removed the option to move the titans, this is a great game all around, I do not recall seeing a lot of hacking, unlike BF2 with so much spawning of vehicles.

Beside of this "no more move" thing it hurts some sort of too, that EA & Gaming Informer etc. allmost did nothing with that game type evidence till now. Tanks, Aircraft, Sniper, Walker (and so on) I am spectating since decades... .. . and it was an awesome game and should be again. Wonder if that Developement structures are actualy able to create some. However, I also wonder whether I could ever forgive EA again for this/that matter/s. Imagine a FR ''future reality'' mod, maintaining futurism with a more tactical approach. heh But yes, bf2142 is the most underrated battlefield of all, the atmosphere is incredible and has an organic futurism (down to earth) in the right measure and a fantastic soundtrack, I would really like to see a 2143 but I'm afraid that today's dice won't be more capable of delivering the masterpiece that 2142 was.
Dice has been teasing us with BF2142 easter eggs since BF3. I remember on the BF3 Wake Island map, there are crates that have "2143" on the bottom corner of them. Very similar to how in one of the BF2 DLCs, there were cars that had "2142" on the license plate before BF2142 was even announced. Also in BF3's Operation Riverside DLC map, there was a miniature BF2142 hovership floating around in a specific spot. And BF4 had a bunch of obvious nods and easter eggs, like a miniature prototype walker on Giants of Karelia, and the Final Stand DLC having a map that was straight up a secret research base for a lot of the technology that's in BF2142, such as: A usuable prototype of the personal launch pods used in BF2142 APCs, futuristic weaponry, protype walkers being contructed in the facility and player controlled hover tank prototypes. It's like they want to make BF2143, but they are constantly just testing the waters.
@@nickbuckley4371 Yeah but that was like 8 years ago. I can see them not wanting to compete with another big AAA futuristic FPS, so they make 2 back to back world war BF games. Then they finally take their shot with a futuristic BF but they really only just dipped their toe in the water by just making it slightly future. You know, just enough into the future to have the creative excuse to add in wacky gadgets/powers, so they can try and capitalize off of the operator/hero character trend. It sucks that they took their one opportunity to make a futuristic BF and blew it solely on the purpose of making operators with powers and selling skins for them. Now their next BF is probably going to be a modern setting BF, because modern setting BF games are always a good emergency fall back plan if you want to win back players.
This was the only BF game that I really got addicted to. Played it a lot from 2006-2009. I mastered the Rorsch in that game. It was like having a sniper rifle that could also take down walkers and tanks.
Man, this brings back some memories. When this first came out, it broke new ground in so many ways, and it never got the loved that it deserved. In fact, the Battlefields that followed didn't even use anything what they learned from it to make more incredible content. I really will never understand why certain games that reshape the mold are left to the chronicles of history, just to be a good memory that we can talk about...Titan mode was, if not still is, the most amazing multiplayer experience that I've ever had. There's literally a Project Remaster. Honestly if you guys like this game so much, go play it. Cause I'd love to actually play this with people. The trouble is every time a "I miss this game" video pops up, people will just give it a pass-by, shake their heads and go "what a shame" and then never think about it again. No shit the games stay dead.

EU server is mandatory shutdown at 7pm so the NA server seeds past 7pm EST Plus these guys run modded small Titan maps that comfortably see plenty of action for 16p. Both servers are always open to 64p, and map rotation autoloads appropriate sized maps based on the number of players connected. Weekends peak in playercount.
Battlefield peaked for me with 2 and 2142. After that they seemed to cater more to console players/casuals etc. If they stayed true to the og games like counter-strike did, we might have had a bigger Battlefield esports scene now.
For me it was 1942 Desert Storm Mod and BF2142 and BF3. i was never really warm with BF2. It was good, like BF Vietnam, but BF3 and BF2142 was more outstanding for me. I like BF2042 too, but it miss so many weapons from BF3 & BF4

From the frostbite titles I would say my fave is BF4. It might have had a bad launch but now with it's gunplay/maps/high tickrate servers it is even superior to bf3 imo.
@@JT-466 i play a bit of BF4 its utter trash compared to BF2, still playable of course but why even have teams if everybody has the same guns anyways in BF2 it was much bigger deal to lock up the guns because you didnt like a certain gun on a certain class in a team. Medic was medic and assault was assault. Veichles had weight and didnt fly around in a buggy way or feel weightless. The sound design on explosions and guns is good but nothing beats the human sound design of BF2 the voices and stuff even the music, BF2 was a mans game and BF4,1 and all the other modern is childs games

It had the high tickrate servers/server browser, less sun glare/suppression compared to bf3 and they have some great maps and remastered ones from BF2 like Dragon Valley. Even the commander mode returned in BF4. Agree though, I would have made it so that each Army has unique weapons like in bf2 and it should have dynamic movement. In Bf2 it was sick with the prone diving etc., I actually like that kind of movement, 4 feels not as fast with the transition animations etc.
I’d go buy a gaming PC tomorrow to play this again if they re-released it. The fact that you could invade the enemy ship and blow it up with a team was incredible. Some of my favorite moments of gaming were running out of the ship as it’s going down.
spent my childhood playing 1942, BF2, AIX, 2142. good times. We're sadly not gonna see a remaster or 2143 though. Despite how enthusiastic the original team was in bringing it back, i imagine DICE were forced to keep making modern age Battlefields instead. due to the bad economic situation
Man, this was one of my favorites back then in 2007, even though I had to play exclusively against bots I enjoyed it so much(because Internet access cards were too expensive back then, and were primarily used for studying instead, so offline play was pretty much the only option). It takes me back to good old high school days...
I learned to love all the Conquest maps... Cerbere Landing, Operation Shingle, Tunis Harbor, Fall of Berlin, Belgrade and even Camp Gibraltar with the nade spam. Cerbere Landing is probably the most memorable though, with the snowy city.
2142 was seriously fun! I think it was just way ahead of its time, i'd love to see them remake it today, some of the epic battles i had in that game.. *chefs kiss*

This game really holds a special place in my heart. My dad bought me this game in 2007. I was 6 years old back then. It was the greatest PC game ever. I played it for many years. So many hours were spent on Suez Canal for Titan battles and Camp Gibraltar for the classic Conquest. Oh and also Fall of Berlin for the exclusive Knife server. Just so many memories from this game :) Shout out to these fellow players, which I'm not sure where they are now but: AlexIce2000, AndrewIce2142, and Super-Fi!
My first was 2, but I also played 2142. Both great games. If I remember correctly, 2142 had more infantry-friendly maps compared to 2. Like Camp Gibraltar, Tunis Harbor, Cerbere Landing, Fall of Berlin, Liberation of Leipzig etc. I liked that. In 2 the maps I remember the most are Strike at Karkand, Sharqi, and Mashtuur City.

There is an easter egg that shows 2143 in the game. I was hoping battlefield 2042 was going to be 2143 but I am still hoping we will get it in the future. Sadly I do not think it will be the next one after 2042 either.
God I miss this game so much. Me and a couple of my friends were all about the Titan mode. So much fun. I hope they do a proper remaster or a remake at some point. I tried to check out Reclaimation, but I could never get in a game like this.

Bruh this game changed my life ! I was friends with the supreme commander in the game . We would spam nades on camp Gibraltar . If you played as much as you say we probably played on that 24/7 camp Gibraltar . I also would whore out the gunship and get near 80 kills a round . My 11 year old self was a pro 2142 player 😅. The Krylov was god tier weapon . I remember the Voss was Meta , the C4 Spam . Good times

I purchased this in 06 as a game I could play when not playing WoW and I ended up playing this more I loved everything about this game and hated it when EA stopped supporting it I will be seeking these servers out in the coming months when I get a rig set up.
At this point, I thnk a game dev company that actually wants to make a game and not make a Ad invested live service nightmare should take BF2142 and remake it. EA/Dice aint gunna do it. But yes, 2142 remastered would be cool. Also, yeah, that Clark 15B was AMAZING fun lol. I preferred the Ganz for the most part, but there were fun times on Gibraltar with that shotty. One of the few times a shotgun felt good. So often shotties feel like they have all the range of an old mans piss stream.
One of my favourite games ever. But I honestly do not want to tarnish my great memories with a half baked "remaster". Dice has repeatedly proven that they´ve lost their magic so I want them to let the game rest in peace.
When the game came out back then, I didn't want to play it because of the future scenario. Then I was at my buddy's house, who had just bought the game. And Berlin was even the first map I saw^^ And just by watching, my prejudices were completely wiped out. I loved the game. Unfortunately, my computer was too weak at the time to enjoy it to the fullest. And as it has already been said here... After BF5... A 2142 in more modern graphics would have been so much better than the game we actually got....
There is a squad mod that was being made by the people that made the galactic contention mod. The mod was called disparity, I believe it may be dead now due to lack of interest. That could be changed though
When you reload, you don't actually lose the whole mag. What happens is that when you're out of fresh mags, you can actually still reload and you'll load back with however much bullets was left from the previous mags. Do correct me if I'm wrong however, that's just from memory.
I really loved this game. I would still play it if there were regular active servers. I´ve failed to install the modded version twice and don´t feel like trying again. Also, I want the old leaderboards and medals. If they enhanced graphics and some of the controls It would be a must buy for me.
It's super disappointing, BF 2042 by all accounts should've been the spiritual successor to 2142 we deserved, but instead we got... whatever the fuck that abomination of a game is supposed to be...
The biggest problem with those new BF games is the maps. There's a lot of big open areas, and they focused on making it look realistic I guess? But they forgot to make playable maps. 2142 is like an obstacle course, it has tons of different cover, everything has a special hiding spot or choke point, everything's medium distance, and you can see everyone clearly because it's still only DX9 When I played 2042 (the beta) it was these giant patches of flat ground out in the open with everyone spamming, and points were really far away from eachother.
Played 2142 in the one and only "season" of Esports. Played both "Pro league" and Nations league. Genuinely one of the best games i've played. And not to brag, i was pretty good at it. when not doing the esport thing i usually went around dog tag hunting, at one moment i had the dog tags of all top 300 on the leaderboards. hunted the no 1 guy for like 2 months.
If the order is correct, after battlefield 2042 2142 should be released. Only if we follow the original present-future order in the time jumps from the beginning of battlefield.

a project reality mod for this game with more countries, units, vehicles, maps and 100 player servers would be awesome
tbh this was my fav battlefield, titan mode was so so fun, its so so underrated, wish they give it some love and remake it, like they did with 1942 "bf1 and v"
Bruh this game changed my life ! I was friends with the supreme commander in the game . We would spam nades on camp Gibraltar . If you played as much as you say we probably played on that 24/7 camp Gibraltar . I also would whore out the gunship and get near 80 kills a round . My 11 year old self was a pro 2142 player 😅. The Krylov was god tier weapon . I remember the Voss was Meta , the C4 Spam . Good times
Krylov felt so good to shoot, the sound/recoil etc.
i whish they would have published it as a bf2 expansion. Sadly people were still going hard in bf2 and ignored it.
A remake would be awsome but i guess they would make it bad sadly

I purchased this in 06 as a game I could play when not playing WoW and I ended up playing this more I loved everything about this game and hated it when EA stopped supporting it I will be seeking these servers out in the coming months when I get a rig set up.

At this point, I thnk a game dev company that actually wants to make a game and not make a Ad invested live service nightmare should take BF2142 and remake it. EA/Dice aint gunna do it. But yes, 2142 remastered would be cool.
Also, yeah, that Clark 15B was AMAZING fun lol. I preferred the Ganz for the most part, but there were fun times on Gibraltar with that shotty. One of the few times a shotgun felt good. So often shotties feel like they have all the range of an old mans piss stream.

One of my favourite games ever.
But I honestly do not want to tarnish my great memories with a half baked "remaster".
Dice has repeatedly proven that they´ve lost their magic so I want them to let the game rest in peace.
When the game came out back then, I didn't want to play it because of the future scenario. Then I was at my buddy's house, who had just bought the game. And Berlin was even the first map I saw^^ And just by watching, my prejudices were completely wiped out. I loved the game. Unfortunately, my computer was too weak at the time to enjoy it to the fullest.
And as it has already been said here... After BF5... A 2142 in more modern graphics would have been so much better than the game we actually got....

There is a squad mod that was being made by the people that made the galactic contention mod. The mod was called disparity, I believe it may be dead now due to lack of interest. That could be changed though
The best fps game ever made period
When you reload, you don't actually lose the whole mag. What happens is that when you're out of fresh mags, you can actually still reload and you'll load back with however much bullets was left from the previous mags.
Do correct me if I'm wrong however, that's just from memory.
You certainly do lose all your rounds. There is no reserve.

I really loved this game. I would still play it if there were regular active servers. I´ve failed to install the modded version twice and don´t feel like trying again. Also, I want the old leaderboards and medals. If they enhanced graphics and some of the controls It would be a must buy for me.

It's super disappointing, BF 2042 by all accounts should've been the spiritual successor to 2142 we deserved, but instead we got... whatever the fuck that abomination of a game is supposed to be...
The biggest problem with those new BF games is the maps. There's a lot of big open areas, and they focused on making it look realistic I guess? But they forgot to make playable maps. 2142 is like an obstacle course, it has tons of different cover, everything has a special hiding spot or choke point, everything's medium distance, and you can see everyone clearly because it's still only DX9
When I played 2042 (the beta) it was these giant patches of flat ground out in the open with everyone spamming, and points were really far away from eachother.
Played 2142 in the one and only "season" of Esports. Played both "Pro league" and Nations league. Genuinely one of the best games i've played. And not to brag, i was pretty good at it.
when not doing the esport thing i usually went around dog tag hunting, at one moment i had the dog tags of all top 300 on the leaderboards. hunted the no 1 guy for like 2 months.
