One of the most iconic maps of Battlefield 2, especially SF. While most players seemed to prefer Warlord and Ghost Town, Iron Gator was always my first choice. There's something magical about this map, and I spent hundreds of hours on it. What's interesting is that it's one of those maps that had a very strong community. I spent a lot of time on _WH_ and SUPER@Iron Gator, and you'd often see the same guys playing every day. It combined a lot of interesting elements: close quarter battles inside the carrier, chopper battles above it. While looking at this video, I'm filled with a sense of nostalgia, and I still remember every single corner of this map.
Unfortunately, Iron Gator was becoming less popular in 2010 and forward, with SUPER@ closing down the last 24/7 server in 2011 or so. The map itself can be very unbalanced. Once MEC captured the Flight Deck and Viewing Deck flags, 2 choppers were circling the carrier, making flag capping above the carrier almost impossible for Seals. It was not a problem back in the day with constantly full servers, but in this day and age, servers will be empty very quickly with that lack of balance.
I will always remember the times I went to Iron Gator 24/7 with all the regulars, and those intense battles inside the carrier will never be forgotten. Truly a masterpiece.

At the server list, on the filters make sure you uncheck "same mod", then you will see the Special Forces servers indicated by the green "2" logo
