Laura, your eye for composition and layout continually amazes me. I'm talking about your camera angels. Starting out in the Hartley was so beautiful and beautifully shot. You're a natural! If you ever get tired of gardening you could definitely get a job as a video designer/editor. (Also, I really appreciate your dedication on moving the camera to give us the best shots out in the south garden. Hearing the wind blowing like that, I knew that it was freezing - but you still did it! Thank you for making the best videos for us to watch!)
Laura’s videos are so relaxing. I dont have a flower garden, so I dont know why I continue to watch her everyday for 2 months now. lol hi guys! Laura has a great community
Hey! I’ve been watching and supporting for half a decade and I don’t have a garden. Just not in the books for me right now so I live vicariously through Laura. ^_^ Welcome new garden friend!
☕️Good morning Laura and friends watching from around the world. I’m enjoying a cuppa and plants in the Hartley with Laura, and hope you all have a glorious day in the garden or wherever you choose to be🍁🍂🧡🌻
Geez well done lady! 1130 bulbs in a day is a phenomenal effort whilst filming it all! So looking forward to seeing the ‘spring rising’! You deserve a good night sleep and a smile on your face as you eventually close your eyes tonight!!! Thank you for introducing me to the power planter auger… has changed my gardening life for the past two years. We are in spring here in Australia and with El Nina … so much rain.. for many a very trying time with awful devastating flooding… I feel grateful to be in our temperate climate, high rainfall, late spring and no flooding. My plants are going berserk! Along with the weeds! Butterfly garden because of your inspiration is making all the beneficial insects very happy! Praise and always grateful for your gift of knowledge, inspiration, trying new things, getting a single job done from start to finish and giving everything a go. My garden is because of me but also you. Bless ❤🍀🪴🏡⛲️
I totally agree I do like 15-30 at a time lol! And I’m wore out after that granted we have super hard clay soil. It’s a workout! I couldn’t ever plant 1000 bulbs in a day!
Hi I am In Australia too. Long time watcher of Garden Answer. So much inspiration. Raining again here where I am today. Usually we have an invisible wall around us stopping us from getting rain. My fruit trees have never looked so gooood! For us the rain is a treat unlike other poor soles in VIC. I know those areas very well and hope they get the help they need.
I planted 1000 bulbs last year after being introduced to Colorblends by you and even as recent as last week I was still getting compliments from neighbors I hadn’t met yet saying they loved seeing the show in the Spring and were looking forward to next Spring’s show. No pressure, right?! 😅
The opening in the Hartley is everything I dreamed it would be for you! How very peaceful to have that oasis with so many beautiful plants loving their life!!
Can’t wait to see all these beautiful bulbs emerge in the Spring. I kept asking myself,”how in the world does she remember where she plants all these bulbs from year to year?” I’m afraid I’d plant over bulbs I put in the ground in years past.
I can't wait until next spring's garden tour to be able to see the beauty that abounds from your hard work. Thank you for always being so willing to share.
I just did this yesterday. Not quite on the scale you do, but I got roughly 600 bulbs planted. The power planter auger made it go so fast! Well at least fast for me. I was dreading the job thinking it would take me all day, but it only took a couple hours. Can't wait to see some spring beauty ❤️ Laura, your gardens are fabulous and thank you for the inspiration. I've tried so many new things because you share so graciously with everyone!
I use deer repellant and a heavy sprinkling of chili powder on every bulb to deter diggers. I also have to spray the repellant when tulips start to emerge or the deer will eat them.
That gorgeous camassia is likely a native wildflower for your area and for mine! There are several species native to Oregon especially, but also ID, WA, NV, CA… here in Southern California I almost bought some for my dad at the Theodore Payne native plant sale.
A few years ago I planted hundreds of daffodil bulbs using the trenching method. I can still vividly recall crumpling to the ground in complete exhaustion as the afternoon light faded and realizing that I was only half done. The amount of willpower required to finish that project depleted all my reserves and up until last week, the only bulb planting I've done has been in containers. Two weeks ago I bought a Power Planter and over the weekend I planted 500 bulbs, by myself, in three hours. Three hours!! Thank you Power Planter and Garden Answer!! P.S. Could you ask the folks at Espoma if they would consider selling the "Organic Indoor! Houseplant Food" in a larger size? I've only ever seen it in the 8oz size which doesn't last very long in my house.
Before you even said hello, it was such a peaceful time. I found myself imagining it was a snowy winter day and it was so warm and alive in the Hartley. Sigh of enjoyment!
I can’t wait to see them next spring ❤! It’s Turner off from mid 70 ‘s to hard freeze and some lite snow to more snow on Monday here in Ok. And of course the wind 💨 have a great weekend everyone! ❤
Hello Laura, from Windermere, Florida zone 9b USA 🇺🇸 We Survived Hurricane 🌀 Nicole 👍 We only lost power from 6a. To Noon!! Several in-ground plants are laying down, but tomorrow is another day 👩🌾👍 The Hartley would be my favorite getaway 🌿💚🌿Happy Gardening 💓
I love your channel, and am a faithful viewer. Now that you spent the summer building up your garden, I get confused about what you’ve named all the areas. I would love to see an overhead map, of where they all are. South garden, Cut Flower garden, the Hartley, and some of the more formal areas.
Camassia is a great bulb group I wish people planted more of. They're native to the US. They mostly bloom right after the last tulips and daffodils have peaked. So your bulb plantings will turn all blue or white depending on which Camassia you planted. The two big ones tend to be C. quamash and C. leichtlinii. But there's also C. scilloides which is dainty and smaller, almost a woodland ephemeral but not in deep shade.
You poor thing, there’s nothing worse than feeling cold! Wish you’d had a helping hand, but as ever you battled through it. I’m very excited for Spring! Go get warm ❤
Looking forward to the spring show! Can you please do a video on how to get seasonal interest ? Like What 5 plants to plant to get spring show, 5 plants for summer, fall and winter. That would be so helpful since I’m starting to plan my garden! Thanks for all the inspiration.
Camassia is also called Camas. It used to be gathered by Native Americans in Eastern WA, Idaho, etc. as a starch... for its bulbs. Grows in damp meadow, beautiful blue flowers.
We had an unusually warm, 70 degree day in SE Wisconsin today and I got another 100 bulbs in. I put about 80 in one of my vegetable raised garden beds to use as cut flowers. Planting them was a dream compared to the rocky soil in our landscape
I didn't plant tulips this fall, but have thousands of daffodils planted over the last twenty years. I do have some reliable tulips come back, but the springs after planting colorblends bulbs were some of the most beautiful springs! Maybe next fall. One thing I am most jealous of is Laura's ability to kneel....after three knee surgeries I do a lot of bending over, :) but I am still out in the garden. All have a great day!
Hallo Laura, diese Unmengen von Blumenzwiebeln sind aber im Frühjahr ein ausgiebiges Video wert ? ! ? ! 🤣😉🌷🌺🌸 Deine Energie ist echt der Wahnsinn ! Ganz Lg an euch Alle aus Deutschland ! 🙋♀️🌲☕️👍👍👍👍👍
It’s amazing how you turn that dry dust into fertile soil! I’m guessing the compost as mulch did it’s job of adding much needed nutrients AND looking beautiful as top dressing. Chef’s kiss.
Ughhh! Beautiful fall colors Laura! Fall is such an overlooked season, it's associated with putting things to bed and we tend to forget all about the amazing hues and tones of foliage and bark etc. Thanks for the inspiration!
I love that you are putting bulbs in the cut garden. Then you won't feel guilty when you want to cut them for an arrangement. Spring is definitely going to be beautiful at your house!💗🌷
I admire you. I do not like the cold at all. You would think being born & raised in Michigan I wouldn’t mind it. Nope. Do not like it. You pushed thru and got those bulbs in the ground AND filmed it all. Wow! Thank you! I hope we get to see them this spring !! 😊♥️
Squirrels! The most destructive force in my garden! Finally bought a trap, caught 26 between June 1st and July 15th, transported across town to a park to live.
My friends dad would catch them and release them across the county, but swore they were coming back, so he started spraying a bright orange dot on their back to see if he was right. 😂😂😂 I always get a kick out of thinking about the people who lived where he was dropping them off suddenly having orange squirrels running around but not having any clue why.
Yay!!! I can’t wait to see those bloom in spring. Your channel always gives me inspiration thank you for another great video Laura. 🧡❤️💜💙💚 Liz in California
Camassias are my favourite! They are just the most beautiful flowers! I had lots in my last garden and started planting in my new garden this fall. If they start to fizzel out then try more water. Saw a big meadow with them in England and was told they wanted more water than most bulbs but I didn’t notice that in my old very dry garden! Love to see you in that light sweater/jacket (what ever it was) instead of allways black! You are beautiful, so let it show!!! Aron seems soo proud of you and I think you know thats why he let those lovely comments slip though ❤️❤️❤️ I hope you plant camassias in a lot of places 👌🫶
The Hartley ("Peace Be Still" and Know that HE and I, am a place for rest, and Peace) Love your spot and all that you do in sharing your time and energy.
Since moving to Germany from American 30 years ago the most magical moment was when I discovered Germans use real candles on their Christmas tree. I use about 30 tea candles on a very fresh tree but only for 3 days of Christmas. Placing them high enough from the dogs tail. Never bothered by cats or kids either. So magical. I will never use string lights again on a tree.
I planted Camassia 'Blue Danube' four years ago. They are marvelous flowers. Great in the landscape and great in flower arrangements. Mine have naturalized beautifully giving me a fantastic show in late spring.
This morning’s video delivered a peaceful low key beginning for me-it wrapped me in a sweet warm moment of Gods Glorious Gifts..those are the moments I so cherish having first thing✨🤍🙏🏼☕️
Just so excited to see those bulbs in full bloom. I really love watching your videos, my stress reliever. i really watch your videos before going to bed. Watching over here in the Philippines. Thank so much..
I can't wait to see all the bulbs come up. It's one of my favorite things in spring. But boy am I jealous! It took me 3 times longer to plant my 350 bulbs by hand than it took you to get a 1000+ in the ground today. Or more. My old lady body and arthritic hands slow me down LOL - I've gotta get me some of those plant augers 😁 Thanks again for a good start to my day, inspiring me to get off my butt and get to work.
Looking at Laura inspired me to plant more every day in my garden, I never planted bulbs before in my garden but looking at her make me want to plant this year much more than I thought...my husband started me in the garden then I continued with my mother and laura she has been my inspiration to be much more than imagined my garden is much bigger than imagined Looking at laura I go crazy I want to plant every plant that I see . I have 13 garden beds I can't try to do more anymore 😆 lol I have my house surrounded of flowers
I’m always amazed at how much you accomplish!! 😅 I’m imagining what all those bulbs will look like when they bloom and I can barely wait for spring. In the meantime, I’m enjoying the peaceful activities in the warm and cozy Hartley. 😊
I can't wait to see the beautiful drifts of bulbs come to life in the spring. My favorite garden channel. I set aside time to watch Laura plants her garden it is a joy. Thank you Laura and Erin.
How fun and relaxing to start out in the gorgeous Hartley! I love the view and puttering like that. I’m learning so much about bulbs I live it! Thank you. And nice editing and camera work.
🌷Good morning Laura and family. Oh my woking by yourself I can feel that cold air BURR. But I'm sure your thiking of the beautiful show of TULIPS 🌷 in the Spring can't wait. Have a wonderful rest of the day stay warm 🙂🌷👋
Laura the Hartley is a perfect spot to do your Video's especially wintertime & Christmas with the house in the background Fun! As far as the massive bulb planting event cant wait for that glorious day! more than likely worthy of an admission fee! Kidding ☺️💚
So glad to see you enjoying the fruits of your labor. You can definitely see how you & Aaron's hard work (and team) has transformed the property over the years. You looked so at peace enjoying working in your Hartley this morning .. ❤️
My sister took me to a football field size patch of camas in the spring years ago. It was up a forest road off the Chinook Pass highway in Washington. It was so beautiful-just a sea of blue. The Yakamas dig camas for food. You have planted so much beauty Laura. I look forward to seeing it all erupt next spring! 😊
To be able to spend a day in your garden and really watch and learn from you up close would be a dream
Here's to dear friendship, belonging, family and sisterhood. The journey to peace and quiet calm.🥰🌟🤗☀️
Awesome productivity today! Moves faster with bad weather approaching. Do long trenches in cut flower garden and call it a season! We all vote YES!

But all the videos and editing are being done by someone else… she herself mentioned in one of the video
Laura does all the filming and photos herself but has an editor, Ken, for the videos (who does a great job btw!). Occasionally Aaron does the filming.
@@fraukeg.facchini2691 And Ken picks out the best music to accompany the videos! His editing is so good.
Laura’s husband Arron does a lot of the videoing
I got the chills watching you dig in the cold wind🥶

Girl loves her flowers. Freezing cold and windy but that does not stop her. You go Laura you will be rewarded with a stunning display in the spring.
You made it look so easy to plant over 1000 bulbs! I plant 2 or 3 dozen every year.

I take pictures when I plant bulbs. That's how I could prove I had a mismatch batch colorwise 🤣
Well she does have video documentation 😊
If you did, you’d just have more flowers then. ❤

Could you please do a weekly montego of this same style of normal maintenance routine? So peaceful 😊
The cammassia multiply like CRAZY. One bulb will form a huge clump in a few years. Great early season blue-ish upright bulb on the taller side.
With you all the way for the bulb planting Laura. It’s a long process but the reward will be nothing short of breathtaking.

I'm always amazed by how energetic you are, even when it's freezing outside.
How lucky are your neighbours to have such a view in spring when your daffodils bloom.
Oh Laura!! You will sleep well tonight. What a days work! It’s going to welcome in spring for sure.
So glad to see you enjoying the fruits of your labor. You can definitely see how you & Aaron's hard work (and team) has transformed the property over the years. You looked so at peace enjoying working in your Hartley this morning .. ❤️
Well done! I kept saying to myself “get inside, it’s freezing!” You are amazing!
Watching you plant those bulbs made me think you are a "reverse" squirrel!

Oh I can’t wait to see all the Blooms in the spring! It’s going to be so amazing! 🌹🌹🌷💐🥀
I look forward to seeing your Spring gardens.
If it's that warm in the Hartley, you can out Lisianthus in a pot and overwinter them in there.
