In this episode, I interviewed Barbara Herman, the founder and creative director of Eris, as well as Antoine Lie, the renowned perfumer who has made all of the brand's scents so far. Our conversation was primarily a deep-dive into the creation of Eris' latest release, Delta Of Venus, but of course, we went off on several tangents, including the reasons why we have so few modern chypres, the advantages of being an independent perfumer and the dubious joys of durian fruit.

Antoine Lie has is such an inspiration and gives me hope in the industry. I wish there were more perfumers like him but there is no one like him. What a true artist.
He’s certainly one of the greats.

So late to this party but happy to see this. I’ve been a fan of Antoine for years as Arden Beauty was the scent of my late teens and early twenties (wildly under appreciated IMO). Haven’t yet had the opportunity to smell any of the Eris perfumes (South Africa unfortunately seldom gets access to niches), but will hope to catch a sniff on a trip abroad. Very intrigued by Green Spell in particular!
Green Spell is a must-try.

Even Antoine Lie can't handle the smell of Durian. My mom banned it from the house when I was growing up 😅 The taste is good though. I think other tropical fruits like guava and mango smell beautiful.
Persicol was actually first in Nuit de Chine by Rosine.
