You truly are an inspiration - your quick wit and eloquence is genuine and never contrived. It’s sometimes difficult for us more diffident in nature to muster the courage to engage the conversation, but you make the environment welcoming.
You have a knack for instilling happiness in your viewers, whilst educating and encouraging our involvement - as any proper teacher should.
Please know that your craft is perfected. Please know that these videos and your work impact our lives so meaningfully so. If ever your passion should slip, please never forget those facts.
P.S. My wife is an educator as well, and similarly far less “geeky” when it comes to fragrances as I - so I can completely relate on that front and sometimes it can be bit of a hard pill to swallow … but I love every attempt to chip away at the subtle apathy 😊

I've learned a lot today - you're an author, an English teacher, you have the travelling virus (like me) and you're a grandpa !! All that while being Mr. P (P for perfume). WOW.
I am new to the game. I've started my journey less than 2 years ago. Until then I was a one scent man (a 'collection' of 1 bottle for a few decades).
I fell into the rabbit hole during a weekend in Italy - for me it all began with Lorenzo Villoresi, which I smelled in Milan (Sandalo, Theseus, Patchouli and Atman Xaman). There was a switch i nmy brain that has turned on, and I became a "sniffer" :). I'm still falling in the rabbit hole ...

I appreciate your knowledge and analysis, although my personal taste doesn't correlate to yours precisely... no two noses are alike. I have no nostalgy to childhood scents like you, so I've pretty much started my journey 'taboula rasa'.
There is something fun about discovering this world of wonders from scratch. On the other hand, I don't have attachments to old scents such as chanel no 5, so maybe I'm missing something here.

@@Persolaise 😂Haha I see your concerns but yes I'd say old school schoolboy! That gets very technical! I should add of course thanks for the scents you made me discover, the hairy chested Habit Rouge ("doesn't lack in hair follicles" 😂 your words exactly, a scent which is sometimes hard for me to wear but I can't get enough of the lemon! "Icing sugar on top of a desert" as you once said.), the wonderful Jardin sur le Nil and also H24 Hermès... I agree Madres Paralelas was very good. You make me want to go back and watch the films.

@@Persolaise Well, it's a feeling I had. It's very sophisticated storytelling with rather dark, even poignant subjects, but there is controlled passion in every page, intense emotion kept in check, which makes the reading experience profound and elevating. I find Ishiguro belongs with the nobler kind of writers, if that makes sense. And I sense something like that about you too. 🙂 I am French but I teach English literature, you see.

I have not read this author's work but I have recently discovered the adaptation of Remains of the day with Anthony Hopkins and you share the restraint of the general mood that maybe makes us all come back! 😂🤔 It's quite powerful when you think about it, that they succeeded in conveying that in the film, the book must be quite something!

I missed some of the last lives, bur i want to congratulate with you for your 13 years on TH-cam. One of the best perfume critics. I was relieved when i found your channel a little more than a year ago ( and then i found others from here ) because there's.virtually no interesting channel on perfumes in Italian and some of them are embarrassing. Finally I found some serious and stimulating talk on the subject .

Congratulations Mr. P! I have a question for you... I've managed to get my hand on a Dior Homme Cologne from 2007, brand new unopened for a very reasonable price and it is simply magnificent! Like a diaphanous & airy version of Dior Homme (Polge). It was release the same year Hedi Slimane left Dior. My question... Was Hedi Slimane involved in this flanker and who is the nose behind it? On certain site it is said Francis Kurkdjian and on others site François Demachy??? This Cologne is directly linked to the original Dior Homme from Polge (silver stem) and has nothing in common with the citrus/musky cologne released later in 2013 and 2022. Thanks, great episode! 👏

What are some very-closely-resembling alternatives to Absolue Pour le Soir that you'd suggest? And why can't Francis order a limited-run batch of APlS to be made?!?!?! APlS is a legendary sweet raunchy amber
That's a tough one, because APLS is quite special.
What about Peau De Bete? It's different in terms of ingredients/notes, but similar in terms of that animalic/delicate contrast.
