Antoine Lie is one of my most favorite perfumers. I am collecting his work. In fact I can simply blind buy any of his work. The problem is its availability where I live.
Absolutely agree! I adore his work. Café Rose for TF, Divin' Enfant for ELDO, Ambre Supreme for Les Indemodables. To me he is also the uncrowned king of dry-downs. Dry-down of Café Rose? Just stunning. Same with Ambre Supreme.
Superb interview and so happy you gave Antoine the space to share all these things. It seems you picked exactly the right person to bring your vision to life. Congratulations again on this fantastic achievement 💎
Amazing interview, happy to learn more about Antoine, Les Abstraits and the inspiration. Belle Ame is coming to my collection and looking forward to try the latest one!
This was an amazing interview. I loved the insights into the perfume industry and loved to hear about how he developed these 3 perfumes following your brief. Even though it would be easier for my wallet to like mass market perfumes, I never have and my perfume discovery journey took me to old perfume formulations and few niche quality creations like these. Away from the ubiquitous iso e supers, Amber maxes and paradisones of the perfume world that take over perfumery. Belle Ame just joined my collection and I really appreciate the other two and how beautifully made they are. Looking forward to more output from both of you and to Antoine’s Li work.
Amazing stream Eugen. Crazy synchronicity that Antoine would cite Wish You Were Here as an inspirational album since my father and I have a significant history with it as well and I was literally listening to Shine on You Crazy Diamond as you mentioned it. The shock on my face. 🤣 You should've seen it. Anyway, I absolutely sympathize with talented perfumers currently stuck in corporate positions that limit their freedom to create. And I certainly think that perfumers should also be given more credit for a major success....or failure? 🤔 Punitive measures for a poorly received release? 😄 I wonder how that would work. Can't deny that perfumers are certainly the most important factor in the creation of a formula, but they also stand on the backs of material suppliers, and rely heavily on other departments like design, marketing and distribution to frame the entire product - the perfume. Would be a shame to witness a brilliant formula go unappreciated because the target audience wasn't keen on the presentation, message or advertising. Probably happens all the time. So it begs the question of where the success or failure actually comes from? Very interesting discussion. Can't thank you, Antoine and everyone in the chat enough for such a great interview. ❤💜💚
Wow! So bummed I missed this live, but I just watched the whole interview and it was amazing and enlightening and fun. Wonderful job thanks Eugen and huge thanks to Master Lie for taking the time and being very open and answering everything! Congrats to Jura Rose 🌹 also for winning the generous giveaway! So great that Jura decided to donate his choice (Belle Ame) to charity for the poor (me) what a nice guy! 😜. Seriously though enjoy Jura! Thanks again Eugen cheers folks. Much love.

Beautiful interview, thank you.
fantastic to hear genuinely about other colleagues, perfumery is a very lonely job otherwise.

Big up for Antoine👍
I really want to try Rien now. I wonder if this stream was the first time Antoine Lie explained how the perfume came into being.
