    Just a side note about seasoning the rice. You can season the rice just with salt without sesame oil and sesame seeds. Conventional recipes don’t require them. As for the type of rice, short-grain or medium grain white glutinous rice would be the best choice. Hope this helps!

    Gotta say the container part was really clever, I’m upset at myself for not thinking of doing that before. Thanks a lot for this tip! Can’t wait to try to make my own!

    Came across this video through search and the idea of making onigiri into a triangle shape by using a plastic container is brilliant. I can't shape it by hand and using an onigiri mold makes them too small which is not to my liking. I will give this a try. And the recipe you did looks so yummy. I never thought to use jalapenos and/or sesame oil. I will try that too. Thanks for the video.

    i just tried this recipe today and it was so damn good! the pickled jalapeños made the onigiri even better than i thought! also, sesame oil is a must in the rice, something i did not know would make a huge difference. i also freshly toasted the sesame seeds and everything was just so delicious. thank you for the recipe! 😊

    That looks so yummy! I'm definitely making that next weekend. Is there a specific kind of rice needed for this?
    Also idk how you don't have more views? Perusing through your uploads and I see a few things I want to make.

      White calrose rice would be the best choice. It’s slightly sticky when cooked. Thank you for the encouraging comment!

      @@BreakfastForOne If I'm unable to find white calrose rice, could I get away with using short grain or sweet rice?

    • @BreakfastForOne
      @BreakfastForOne  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Short-grain glutinous rice could be even better. I recommended calrose rice because I thought it would be much easier to find in the stores.

      @@BreakfastForOne I think I'll try the glutinous rice since there is a large Asian super market 10 minutes from my home :). Thank you!

    does it have to be canned jalapeno? i have fresh ones

    • @BreakfastForOne
      @BreakfastForOne  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think fresh jalapeños would be great too, maybe with a bit more salt and lemon juice? I used jarred jalapeños because they are already seasoned and add a slight acidity and sweetness to the flavor.

    Can i use plain white rice or just that one

    • @BreakfastForOne
      @BreakfastForOne  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If the plain white you have is glutinous/sticky, it would work. I always use short-grain sushi rice or medium-grain California rice (Calrose rice)

    Only sesame oil is needed to make sticky rice?

    • @BreakfastForOne
      @BreakfastForOne  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is important to season the cooked rice with salt well and sesame oil is optional for this recipe.

      I haven't tried it, but I wonder if sour cream or greek yogurt would work.. with a pinch of salt and olive oil.

      Use canned tuna in oil. It will give you the fat content mayo would add to the mix. Add a tiny splash of vinegar to balance the fatty taste.

      고추장보다 훨씬 묽은 질감에 마늘이 들어가서 향신료가 더해진 맛이예요. 태국 음식과는 다 잘 어울리고 라면 국물에도 어울리고 아보카도의 느끼한 맛을 잡을 때도 좋아요.

    • @BreakfastForOne

      In some other cuisines, butter or olive oil is used as a flavoring agent for almost all dishes. I see it that way.
