This is what makes Majora’s Mask story so intriguing to me, it’s about Link getting over and forgiving Navi for leaving him, and also letting go off his trauma from his adventure in Ocarina of Time. Links relationship with Navi is parallel with the Skull kids relationship with the giants. They both learn to let go and forgive their friends for leaving, realizing they left for a purpose, and that it was time to move on with their lives. My favorite part of the parallel is after the 4th dungeon, where the giants tell Link to “Forgive your friend”. While it’s most likely are talking about skull kids, I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to think they are also telling Link to forgive Navi. And so, I think that at the end of Majora’s Mask, Link leaves Termina without finding Navi but content and ready to move on with his life. I think that he becomes a knight for a bit in a war, but after, lives a more mundane life, with people that did not want to be heroes, leaving him to be forgotten and no longer needed by time, making him feel regretful when he died of old age. He then comes back as the Hero’s shade in TP in order to give his descendent the help he never was given, and ensure that he helps finish the job of Ganondorf and guarantee peace in a land he served but was forgotten in, but that’s just my thoughts.
This is Link's curse as a hero. His sacrifice is that every woman who ever loves him leaves. Zelda, Navi, Malon, Midna, and Fi to name a few. As soon as he seeks happiness and settles down, he loses his heroic powers, allowing evil to rise and destroy the land in the form of Ganondorf and many others. A good story but so tragic.
@ Yes, while that is true, it’s a bit more complex than that. The thing is that they can’t live forever, they die of old age at some point and can’t always ensure that evil never conquers the land again. The Hero of Time most likely wanted to pass down his skills to his, possibly due to him thinking that Ganondorf could return, but I don’t think he could because of how he was forgotten as a hero and lived in a time of peace, where his skills were unnecessary.
@@pcalix17 eh, disagree. Hero of Time had a tragic story, but there were plenty of Links that got it on with Zelda, especially in the latest games. I feel like most ladies leave because they are not Zelda, and Zelda and Link aren't obliged to bond that much either, so he either bonds with Zelda during the adventure or finds another woman after adventure is over.
Navi: we're dead stupid. The hero shade: wait, when did that happen? Navi: 5 minutes ago, because you ate a deku baba without fully cooking it. The hero shade: oh.... I'm never gonna stop hearing about this am i?

She caused majora’s mask, no, she saved it. If link didn’t even choose to go to termina, the moon would’ve crashed down without Link being there to stop it. “Selfishly left” and yet, she made a choice to save more than Link, she saved the entirety of hyrule.
in fairness, the land of termina is a parallel world according to the hyrule historia. so the moon crashing would not affect hyrule at all, it does not change the fact that link saved many in his search for her.
@@megasora4 its only stated to be a paralel world due to assets being reused from oot (hence the dopplegangers, but not every citizen has an OOT equivalent ie Kafei, Mikaru, Darmani, majority of the Dekus and the Deku Child, Nabooru doesn't have a Termina equivalent ect ect. i think prior to Historia- Termina's been just agreed upon as a nearby country cus the Zelda series does have neighboring countries and kingdoms throughout the series. @@stephanos6128 Sort of correct, but iirc it was other way around. I still nonetheless believe it to be a parallel world, as I think in terms of lore and world-building, it wouldn't just be 'in character' for the game, but also a lot more interesting.
My personal head cannon was always that, not only was Navi the reincarnated soul of Link's mother, wanting to keep Link safe, but became the Great Fairy in the Cave of Ordeals that help the Hero of Twilight. In a way, it would essentially be both Link/ the Hero's Shade and Navi/ the Great Fairy, supporting the next hero from the shadows.
I'm not crying, it's just that my Meibomian glands aren't functioning at full capacity so my tear ducts are working overtime to keep my eyes from drying out. Since the human eye needs a proper balance of oil (from the glands, you see) and tears, the excess tears don't stay in my eyes, they just leak out. That's all that's happening. Perfectly normal.
"Even tho you're quite annoying, what am i right now without your will from the very beginning?" -Link leaving a written note after he moved away from his home
That's it throwing out their and letting the Fandom go feral with all years that past in Zelda Navi, probably already a great fairy the only question now is which GREAT FAIRY IS NAVI AAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!
I recently watched a romhack of OOT known as The Ultimate Trial that gave another theory as to why Navi left. It’s even more heartbreaking. SPOILERS, obviously. It’s non canon, also obviously, but it’s food for thought. After beating the final boss, Link enters a door with Navi. The background turns totally white and Link is back in his kid form. Navi is nowhere to be found and there is a woman in a blue dress that Link seems to recognize. The implication is that Navi is Link’s mother, who died protecting Link and getting him to Kokiri Forest. Again, it’s non canon. But still. Interesting.
Is the implication that he passes on in the end with his mother into the white void? I could never tell if he was dead at the end or was like changing the timeline or something.
Canonically, Navi had feelings for Link and was jealous of Zelda because of how far Link would go to help Zelda. This was just a bit of fun trivia, it has nothing to do with why she left.
Legends tell of a hero great that met with such a dreadful fate. Now he lies below tree leaves swaying flow. To guide courage with his hand and protect the land from one cruel man. Rest now hero , sleep now, be at peace great hero you have saved us. Though his legend ends as a mighty tale the courage he left shall never fail.
Hey Mr.Gabaleth when I become older I want to become an actor/voice actor and you and your videos and the people who do the voices have inspired me. I would really like to work with you if you would allow me to.
How did Good Blood pit it the "Hero of Time that no one remembers". Something like that. Link went from a 10 year old boy to a 18 or 19 year old young man. A boy trapped in an adult's body. Had to grow up and adapt to fight Ganondorf and his horde. Reverts back to a 10 year old boy with a grown man inside. What's worse, no one remembers his story. Not even Zelda. He's all alone with no one as a companion and his childhood in the hands of Navi, who left him because her task was done. The Hero of Time lived a life of regret because of that trauma. I think, he put so much on his shoulders that he never made a connection with anyone and never stopped fighting, and died on the field of battle alone and broken. Because who could relate to that! No one. This was before video games became the cinematic interactive storytelling medium that is today. None of this was said or told in the game, and you had to piece this together yourself. Hits harder, I think.

Pretty much link was in search of her as she was the only one that remembered the adult timeline
To be fair, if link didnt go to Termina, the moon would have still crashed into the world.
Just like Lilia Calderu provoked "Multiverse of Madness"
