    My working idea about Coral as a Damage Type in PvE which the part also shows a different icon on Attack Type is that enemies have a Resistance Stat instead but only a handful of enemies in the game have Coral Resistance, mostly being C-Weapon enemies. As for why Arena ACs might take differing amounts of damage they either also have a hidden resistance stat or more likely it has to do with OS Tuning again where one of the features is a passive that just reduces all damage you take up to a certain percentage.

    • @NoisyRen
      @NoisyRen  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      It may very well be that the enemy ACs have different levels of tuning, and that it actually affects coral damage. Definitely something going on.

    • @BrilliantSunsGaming
      @BrilliantSunsGaming 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@NoisyRen Each part has a ton of stats associated with it, and I'm wondering if perhaps the head piece or something gives resistance to Coral damage. I'm wondering if it has any sort of link to things like flame throwers or stun weapons where it builds up over time. However, Coral would be a sort of hidden build up. I guess what I'm saying is I'm wondering if the system recovery stat of the head may affect the damage from coral weapons. Additionally, I'm wondering if the reason you're getting the differences in damage from pve enemies is based off some formula like Energy + kinetic + explosive / x = damage output or something odd like that.

    • @NoisyRen
      @NoisyRen  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      PvP wise I'm fairly certain there's no hidden resistance that effects it. PvE I'm not sure just yet, but my suspicion is that each enemy has different OST stats which likely effects it as they do affect the damage output of coral weapons. Not entirely sure on it though.

    The coral generators give you a clear boundary between bottomed out and full power.
    It’s easier to simply spend all your energy to pull off an attack and then jump to avoid counterattacks rather than constantly take that full second of ground tine to regen a normal reactor.

    • @NoisyRen
      @NoisyRen  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Can be hard with the jump on some leg types, but not too bad.

  • @dangerwarg9682

    There is no such thing as penetrating defenses because nobody has an anti-Coral defense stat. However I know what is causing the inconsistencies in the arena and to the same extent PvE.
    There is a hidden modifier enemies have that adjust how much damage they take from each damage type. Said modifiers are why the Sea Spider was freakishly hard thanks to how it took noticeably less damage from energy and explosive weapons, 30% less damage last I saw. The nerf made the two damage types do no less than 100% of their damage, while kinetic weapons still have the most increased damage taken modifier against the sea spider.
    This hidden modifier is different not just for who you fight, but where and when you fight them. Such as the Test AC. In test mode, it takes full damage from the WLT Coral Rifle. 465 full or 425 if the target escapes a tick of damage. Rummy takes the same damage in the arena. Index after Rummy in the arena also takes the same damage. The Test AC in the arena however, took 385 full or 361 when escaping a tick of damage. Freud takes similarly reduced damage in the Arena. Maeterlinck, an E lister takes 441 full, or maybe I'm off, but it doesn't matter. You wanna know how much damage she takes in PvE, aka the mission you kill her in? 778. She is taking increased damage from Coral along with G3, albeit less damage than Maeterlinck takes. Meanwhile MTs there take the 465 damage, although I think the larger MTs take different damage.
    One could argue that the OST might have influenced the numbers. They do not. 15%, 30% or even if it is multiplicative , the result can't reach up to literally double the damage nor would it yield results as little as 5% less damage taken than the base.
    Also this is also why the damage is the same in PvP. The modifier is the same for all of us.

    • @NoisyRen
      @NoisyRen  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh cool, have the numbers from missions too. Super interesting 👌

    • @calangel
      @calangel 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I figured it would be something like that. Some of the AC are noticeably harder/easier to kill depending on where you encounter them. That suggests that's there's some type of damage modifier outside of defense stat that is differentially applied.

    So coral has a C in scaling for both Strength and Dex, nice. ... I have to say though. This is kinda weird because by the time you unlock the coral weapons you'll likely have unlocked all or most of the OS chips, meaning whatever perks they may yield, you probably already have all of your weapons working at maximum performance. If you could only equip a limited number of OS chips like FRS memory it would make sense, but unfortunately it does not, unless you want to make up arbitrary challenge rules.

    I did have a hypothesis that is a bit hard to test, that the coral shields may have increased coral weapon defense as well. this may even be true of the coral back shield part. particularly the damage mitigation while they are active and reduce the "chip" damage that makes it through the shielding. its also possible that the shields gain reduced gauge damage from the coral weapons as well. I don't think it alters the other weapon types effects on the shield however aside the one you mentioned on the pulse shots.

    while not a secret, the charged coral laser attack sets up a visual cluster F*%^, perfect for releasing two charged coral missiles, which - when they are landing create another visual cluster F*&%, giving me the perfect opportunity to charged coral oscillator.
    rinse repeat, or just go for the stagger with hand weapons and punish with coral missiles you can also opt to work a songbirds into the combo, releasing a coral missile while flying, shooting songbirds while falling, then assault boosting in with rifle shots for an oscilator attack while they try to dodge the missiles too.

      Probably not. Biological warfare is usually more about bacteria and viruses attacking people from inside their body. If Covid had been deliberate, that would be effective biological warfare. Here the weapons are specifically discharging the energy potential in coral. It more resembles nuclear fission in its usage. Though the definition of biological warfare is inherently a bit of a grey area. If we learn that coral then eats away material after initial contact, then it comes closer. But the story is entirely treating it as being for energy.

    Is there a way to raise damage of the full charged coral deathray, or help with seeing someone's location when it's firing?
    (Sight issue exists for soft-lock aiming, idk for hard-lock, but the swap to manual aim kills indicators on targets in several ways past what manual aim normally does).
    I want to make Galacta Knight's "The Great Space-Time Killing Flash" move either stronger or better to aim for sustained blows. Thing sucks up generator recharge rate enough as is.

    • @NoisyRen
      @NoisyRen  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't believe there's really a way to help with either. Damage seems to not be boostable. Aiming with hard lock may help. Worth a shot for you. I haven't used that attack all that much unfortunately.

    • @otamatonefan8996
      @otamatonefan8996 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@NoisyRen tried Hard-lock, the beam breaks it. Although i found two things:
      1. Missile lock indicators can add upon the circular marker in manual aim, helping track them a bit more.
      2. Beam is absolutely not closer range as the large view-covering beam +turn speed reduction makes it nigh impossible to see which direction someone swiftly dodges around you at. Not even missile lock indicators will help you much there.
      I guess true to Kirby games, Galacta Knight's deathray is better from a range, and the slower a target is, the more it's effectively aimed range reaches closer.

    It’s not that coral weapons ignore defense. It’s that they deal coral damage, which is it’s own damage type.
    You can see this by looking at any weapon’s stats in assembly, turning on contextual help, and then mousing over the damage type icon. It lists all the damage types and coral is it’s own damage type. And because anti-coral defense doesn’t exist on any parts, there is no defense to reduce it’s damage like all the other damage types.
    This is the same reason your conclusion about energy firearm spec was correct. Coral is different from energy, so energy firearm spec doesn’t affect it.
    In that way it seems to balance it out. You don’t get extra damage from your generator, but it makes up for that with there being no defense to reduce it’s damage.
