The carrier on my mf35 23c diesel dual clutch has wear on the fork pressure surface. A bit of a dip, maybe .25 mm on each side of original machine surface height, on each fork surface. Is that acceptable or should the carrier be replaced? I am replacing the clutch with a new one and the associated bearings but thought I would ask before I press on the new throw out bearing onto its carrier.

I think it should be ok with some grease on it.

If I'm changing my throw out bearing, should I change the springs as well? Thanks.

No need if it appears to be in good condition

@@BundyBearsShed Thanks for the speedy reply and thanks for all the videos. There's no way I would have even attempted my 135 restoration with out them. Greatly appreciated from the Highlands of Scotland.

Recently my father-in-law rebuilt the engine on my MF 35 three cylinder Perkins diesel. On the transmission side I guess all he really did was put a transmission seal in and then he also installed a new clutch kit. I went over there for the first start up since the rebuild. We purged the lines and it fired right up. We noticed that the number to injector was leaking but before we could address that issue the tractor just died. With it still being in neutral and without pressing down the clutch pedal, It was really slow to try to start up but wouldn’t start. We then pressed down the clutch pedal and it cranked over faster/normal. He did realize that he had bought too heavy of a clutch for this unit so I don’t know if it has something to do with that or perhaps the input shaft bearing went bad or what but the transmission did have a leak but worked perfectly fine when we parked it to do this work. Do you have any idea what could’ve potentially happened?

Very hard to say but if it runs better with the clutch in i would split it again and re visit that gearbox.

Ram for 1 minute then literally died .. my dad said maybe the input shaft seal seized.. father in law thinks something got caught up in the transmission.. we will put the new new clutch in when it comes in and see what happens. Put in the meantime he’s opening up the top of the trans to see if he can see anything that bound up.
