Honestly, I wish it was like a 30 minute special. I wish it included more of the other characters. Richard and everyone. It felt like a regular episode honestly. Literally. For the stuff I actually liked: The 4th wall breaking in this show has always been legendary, and for once, it had genuine consequences. And I like how Rob was actually trying to save them. I really hope a movie comes out, to truly say goodbye to the series. The comedy in this episode was also pretty good. And if a film does come out, maybe all of those complains I had could be tied up with a feature. That would be amazing. I will forever love and miss this show. Thank you so much for all the hours of entertainment Gumball. You’re impact on the cartoon industry will be felt forever

It's supposed to be like a normal episode. The void is cancelling the show, when least expected.
(Theory) I think that the creators are purposely leaving this at a cliff hanger so after a few years we kinda forget about this show and the next episode is going to be about how all the characters are in the void because people forgot about this show and now the characters are trying to escape the void and be remembered and the new season will start from there with new episodes just my theory 😗✌️

Here's all the evidence I can think of leading up to this finale:
So throughout the show, there's constant breaking of the 4th wall and explicit references to how Gumball is the main character (the ep where the 80s / 90s cartoon dudes try to rope Gumball and Darwin into their overdone narrative, the ep where Tobias replaces Gumball as lead, the ep where Elmore's background characters take the lead, etc.);
there's The Void itself;
there's The Disaster and The Rewind, where Rob tells Gumball he's ignorant about his "Amazing World" and that none of it's "real"; as Gumball falls down into the void we see the credits go up on the other side of it; also the whole premise of those episodes is that Gumball's world can literally be controlled with a remote;
there's The Vegging, where someone from the future sends a message about "the things that happened today happened for a reason and it was all the work of..."
there's The Future, where Rob tries to explain that disaster is coming;
and there's The Inquisition, where Rob tries to explain that their only chance of survival is by transforming to escape to "the other place" before their own world falls apart;
In conclusion there's so much good setup for the idea that Rob knows they're in a TV show, he knows that it's ending, and he wants them to escape to the real world (our world) where life continues after the show ends outside the boundaries of the show. It LITERALLY ends on a cliffhanger - I think that play on words is that last thing that makes me believe 100% that they're gonna give us a proper ending eventually.
I actually just got into this show about 2 months after it ended, in August, and I just finished it now in October. So I'm a little concerned that a movie hasn't been confirmed, but I'm still hopeful y'all.

Rob reminds me of another character who is aware that they are trapped in a digital piece of media, that being Filename2 from Baldi's Basics. Both are glitched, distorted characters who are unable to state exactly what's wrong and why they're doing what they're doing. They get easily upset out of fear and anger, and act antagonistically towards the protagonists because of it. They also both desperately try to stop something terrible from happening to everyone, but they are the only one who knows what's really going on... and they are neutralized by the threat before they can stop it.

I’ve literally been watching amazing world of gum ball since I was 2. I’m sad it’s ending. The old seasons still remind me of my great grandparents.
I’ve seen the episode and it was shocking that rob was turning Elmore junior high into real people but was actually trying to safe them from the disaster that was about to begin.i know Gumball is not over after Rob fell into the gap and we need a proper ending to the show.but will Elmore survive or will it come to a end.but for a fact I know that we won’t see Rob ever again in the series and a movie would be great to wrap up the show and I think if they have a movie,it better have a great ending to wrap it all up but I hope we see more episodes in the future.it would be a shame if the show ended and the show needs a good ending.great show by the way and I hope everyone will agree with me.

Seriously, though. This show was so fun to live through. An absolute piece of art. The last few episodes were chillingly ominous. Thanks, Gumball, you've made me feel something for a show that I've never felt before.
The movie is now in production, I can't wait!
