Many people don’t realise that the Bad Ending is the ONLY ending. There is no good ending, because once the show ends, they all fall into the void. That is the sheer brilliance of the show.
The only good ending thry want is an epic final battle, followed by a fast-forward into the future with everyone happy and their ships confirmed (Penny and Gumball; Darwin and Carrie). Frankly, it's getting tired (even Regular Show had it so that way Mordecai ended up with someone other than Margaret or CJ [though a writer said online that Margaret is still friends with Mordecai, but is too busy with her news anchor career to see him while CJ became a pro dodgeball player and has cut off all ties with Mordecai]) and is emblematic of that problem that Fry pointed out on the Futurama episode with "Single Female Lawyer": Clever things make people feel dumb, unexpected things make people scared, and people would rather be happy with seeing something they've seen 1000 times before instead of something different.

I just finished binging the entire series a day ago and that got me thinking about the actual story of the world. He’s how I think it goes. So the timeline begins at S3 E12 The Void. Gumball and Darwin notice that Molly is missing and are determined to find her. With the help of Mr. Small, they manage to find the void, a place for all the mistakes. Another character is already there too, Rob. All he wanted was to be a part of the world of Gumball but the universe said no, and he was cast into the void. But when Gumball and the gang escape with Molly, Rob clings to existence and Mr. Small’s van and manages to escape. His body is disfigured and left glitching when he makes it back to the real world and unfortunately his memory is completely eradicated too. Rob, having no place to go, eventual ends up hiding out in Gumball’s basement until he is discovered as seen in S3 E36. Gumball and Darwin catch Rob and Rob tells them that he has no place in the universe. Gumball then tells Rob that he can be the bad guy of this world. Then something triggers in Rob’s head and he remembers everything and how he was abandoned, and Rob makes a promise to become Gumball’s nemesis. Around this time it is also established that Banana Barbara can paint the future in S3 E31 but we’ll come back to that later. More episodes pass and the two episodes S4 E2 The Nemesis and S4 E30 The Bus are just episodes with Rob that don’t necessarily serve any purpose in the story so they aren’t worth looking at too much. But the episode S4 E40 The Disaster has a lot to offer. Rob comes in possession of a quite literal universal tv remote. He screws up Gumball’s life with it and at the end forces him into the void in order to save the remote and undo all of the mess Rob made. Gumball manages to hit the rewind button and is given a second chance in S5 E1 The Rerun, hence the name. Unfortunately Rob still is able to send him to the void but he doesn’t. Why? It’s because he knows what it’s like in there, he knows what it’s like to be trapped in an eternal abyss of nothingness. Rob realizes the remote is too powerful and goes back in time and destroys it. More episodes pass and two more episodes, S5 E25 The Ex and S6 E21 The Spinoffs and just more episodes with Rob that don’t serve any purpose except to show his evil schemes. Now here’s where the story gets weird and a little creepy. In S6 E34 The Future, Rob captures Banana Barbara because he needs her to paint the future so he knows what happens next. Now this is the part that I’m a little confused on, how did Rob know of Banana Barbara’s power? It’s never established in the story that Rob has encountered her before as this is their first time seeing each other, so how did it happen? Well I don’t have an answer but it’s not impossible to think that Rob saw Barbara’s paintings of events that already happened because Gumball did the exact same thing in S3 E31 The Oracle. This is my best guess but I wish there was proof, but sometimes in theories you gotta draw conclusions based on previous evidence. I believe the reason that Rob wanted Barbara’s help was so that he could know how he could destroy Gumball. But after seeing her paint nothing but static, he remembers the void and how it was nothing but static. He begins to shift gears and starts to wonder not about the future of his rivalry with Gumball, but rather the future of this world. Unfortunately Gumball and his friends show up to rescue Barbara before Rob can figure out what will happen to Elmore. He tries to stop them but fails. When he is trapped he says the words, “This is more important than you!” and “No, you dot get it!” These lines show that Rob’s attention is turned towards figuring out the fate of his world. But he is inevitably erased from existence once again, this time by Barbara’s own power. Gumball, feeling bad about erasing Rob asks Barbara to paint him back into existence and “tells” Rob he’ll se him in the future. But then Banana Barbara mutters the words, “But there is no future.” The episode turns to static, but you’re able to see a figure, an old man for a glimpse of a second, and then it ends. Then ten episodes later, Gumball’s finale arrived, called S6 E44 The Inquisition. In it, we see the old man teased in S6 E34 The Future, his name is revealed to be Superintendent Evil. He says he aims to fix the school and it’s ridiculous ways. Then one by one he calls each student down to fix them. What he’s really doing is turning them into more humanoid characters. Gumball and Darwin manage to escape but decide to go back in and save their friends. They are able to turn them all back by reminding them of who they really are, quirky and outlandish characters. The schools corners Superintendent Evil and stops him from escaping. They then unmask him and are shocked at who it is, Rob. Rob tries to explain why he did what he did and what will happen to this world, but Tina the T-Rex knocks him out just before he can finish. The episode flashes forward to the nighttime where Rob has just woken up. He’s frustrated at everyone for not listening to him and explains that transformation was the only way to escape to the other place before this world-. But he’s cut off by a loud crack followed by the sudden appearance of a giant hole. Rob falls in but manages to grab on to the edge. But he can’t hold on and as his grip slips he says the words, “It’s starting.” And Rob falls into the void while screaming and the franchise ends there, a literal cliffhanger. Now let’s backup a bit to previous episodes. In S6 E34 The Future, when Banana Barbara painted Rob back into existence, he was falling and had a curly pig tail, and wouldn’t you know it, but in the final shot of the show, it’s shows Rob falling into the void with a curly pig tail barely noticeable, it’s and exact replica of the painting. But if you thought that was unsettling, just wait. In S3 E31 The Oracle, at the end of the episode Barbara painted one more painting showing the Wattersons running from the disaster behind them. But it wasn’t just a regular disaster, it was the void. That painting was future of Elmore as seen in the final episode, with the world falling apart around them. The show predicted its own ending WAY before it arrived! And I believe that’s where the story ends, The Amazing World of Gumball begins to crumble apart and is cast into the void never to be seen again. It’s a sad and disappointing ending and it makes me unsettled whenever I think about the final scene. But I don’t want to dwell on the bad part, Gumball was by far the best show on CN (in my opinion), and I’m glad I got to experience it. THEN we have an episode with Rob and Banana Barbara, who we know can paint things into existence. Barbara shows Rob that there is no future, and Rob tries to tell Gumball and Darwin, but they remove him from existance. Lastly, Rob finds a way for there to be a future, and everyone, again, ignores him. But, Rob IS the villain. He's not trying to help. He wanted them to be live action in order to avoid cancellation. It would be a lose/lose situation for everyone. Viewers and characters.
Also, remember, Banana Joe was his nemesis for a while. He most likely saw her painting while he was trying to (ahem, murder) Banana Joe, then he kidnapped her.
They were trying to disguise themselves as humans to fit in to the real world after their show ends because they cannot be in the real world as cartoons
They could've done a movie to continue the story on how they escape The Void, but they chose to end it right there with a bad ending. Not judging, they must've got tired of continuing it.
Do you guys remember the episode where banana Joe's mom went missing and they eventually found her and Rob was trying to get her to paint the future and then gumball and Darwin came in and stopped him and saved her and then they ended up painting rob out of existence and so they asked her to paint him back and she painted that last scene where Rob was falling into the void? Yeah me neither
Worth mentioning in the episode with William banana Barbara painting a fence and it’s just completely white like nothingness but then it’s kinda undermined when she paints Williams eye onto her husband
There is also an episode where gumball, Darwin, and Anais find paintings made by Banana Joe's mom. One of the paintings in the episode had some of that lore in it. This specific painting shows gumball and his family running away from something INSIDE the void. Banana Joe's mom probably predicted the show was going to end before Rob did.

I actually think that this ending fits the show perfectly. I think that it is so fitting how everyone in Elmore chooses ignorance and that rob fails to save them.
Imagine if the finale was gumball and His family all huddled up and the finale peace of land and they are crying and then gumball says “well it was a good run” and a sad tone version of the theme plays and they fall into the void to be forgotten
Theory! (Yes I am aware this was one year ago!) They KNEW the ending from the beginning. They decided to just ignore it and live life as they could before their world was “thrown away”. Once the “glitches” rob, the other female Dino (Molly) found out, they tried to change. Molly being cast away and forgetting she ever knew, but rob still remembering. When he found out he always tried to come back and “save the day” by making the episode more interesting. Another thing is that the people of Elmore forgot about knowing about the ending, and they thought rob was just faking it. The “higher ups” or the creator/animators decided to get rid of Rob due to knowing that he would try to tell them again and again. But hey, this is just my own theory...

Victoria Toribio yes. Though, mr small could have played a part as well, since he IS the hippy one, and tries to stay positive. And when he can’t- he breaks down, maybe because he knows if he breaks character, then he could be “taken off air” or “removed as a character from the show” permanently or for a while. Maybe that’s another reason Rob was so glitched. He acted out of character so he “disappeared” for the longest time. (He was in the VERY FIRST episode and rarely seen again) Then he returns outta no where. You can’t tell me that wasn’t planned, since he wasn’t a big part of the show before he turned up glitched
Actually, if you look closely in the episode “The Oracle” Banana Barbara was painting something that looked like the Watersons escaping the static void. No hate intended, just saying.

U know who else fell to the void? Every other cartoon that has either rushed to end so soon or the other cancelled and discontinued shows like uncle grandpa, knd, and steven universe. These cartoons prob didnt know what to do but it happened. All of those shows were forgotten forever because they fell to the void.

If they made gumball live action, it's probably gonna be horrifying to watch especially if you know that their live action versions of cartoon characters that are animals, dinosaurs, food, etc. it feels like an insane, weird, idea, that I don't think would look good.

Why is no one talking about the episode "the future" when Rob takes banana Barbara and asks her to paint the future and all she paints is static. And when gumball said at the end of the episode, "bye Rob. See you in the future." Banana Barbara said "there is no future." Meaning she knew the show was ending and that's how Rob found out what was going to happen. So, I think he wanted to turn everyone into humans so they could escape to reality and they could live in the real world so they wouldn't fall into the void and be forgotten. But I really hope there will be a movie so that could be explained and in the movie they could possibly escape to reality *OR* maybe banana Barbara could change the future by erasing the void in her paintings and save everyone in the movie if they make one. Idk that's just what I thought when I watched the episode.
In one of the first episodes where banana barbera was painting she made on of the void where the world was torn apart and their house was on a small island in the void
This is a lil theory. Rob was supposed to be Gumball’s sidekick before Darwin was adopted. But since the position of sidekick had been taken, Rob was sent into the void. He had to have a part to play or else he would be sent back to the void. So he had to become the villain. Now, Imagine if the guy who owned the awesome store got all of his stuff from the void. That means Darwin belongs to the void. Idk =)
I think that, like many cartoons, that was when gumball transitioned in some sort of way and it got people to like it more or elss depending on who you ask.

Spoiler alert: dont read if you have possibly not watched any of the previous episodes in the show that I am referencing I think it makes sense, if the show falls into the void, wouldn't it just delete itself, meaning no more episodes, no more gumball. But it would have been an interesting episode to see gumball's world crumbling and gumballs friends and familly trying to save it or escaped it. Like in the picture banana joes mom paints in that one episode, when they find out she can paint the future. It would also explain the comment banana joes mom made in the episode where she is kidnapped by rob.
I remember an episode of when banana Barbara (banana joes mom) (who also can draw the future) painted a picture of static in the background and floating islands and the wattersons hugging each other in in fright and I’m pretty sure that that was what happened after it ended
I think the reason rob was turning them into live action humans wasn’t to keep the show going but instead to help them escape the cartoon world and enter the real life human world in efforts to escape entering the void like we see in one of banana Barbara’s paintings where the whole watterson family is trapped in the void, scared and running bc they don’t understand why they aren’t in Elmore anymore and instead in the world of forgotten things bc they chose ignorance and don’t know that the show has ended therefore their world has ended

Same. I can’t believe I never knew it ended. All the shows I watched ended but it. I fell behind on watching it because all the other stuff ended. They’re making a bunch of new cartoons but none of them have piqued my interest. I think Cartoon Network programming peaked in 2010-2017 honestly (not counting 2018 or 2019 even though some shows from that era ended in those years). I just realized there’s no cartoons I watch on Cartoon Network now.

Probably one of the most brutal endings in a kids show. It’s weird but sometimes I like endings like that cuz its different than these typical happy endings.
I both like and dont like the way it ended, I guess to me it felt like there's was gonna be a part 2 to it til I found out that was the end of it and I just kinda disappointed myself cuz it's what I was expecting, I don't think the ending is bad, I just set myself up for disappointment basically :')

Random detail I noticed: When the outside view of the school is being shown before Rob, the doors are all red like the real location, when they are usually pink, blue, and orange, to match the colors of the Watterson children.

I literally just found out this is the last episode 😭 Anyway, here is my theory! Rob was trying to turn everyone into live action versions of their character because of real life. In real life, live action movies are getting more and more popular, while animated movies aren't. Rob was trying to save them from getting unpopular or forgotten, just like how he was forgotten. He tried to make every one live action so they could be popular, remembered. Rob knew all of this, and tried to prevent them from going into the void (where things are forgotten) but failed in the end. Because he failed, the show ended, everything went in the void. Tl,Dr: Rob was trying to turn everyone into live action characters cause that is more popular than animation now a days. Nothing against animated movies/TV shows, I love most of them!
This was the most fullfilling end i have ever seen i showed how life doesn't always end well it was a master piece to me and also left us wanting more which is great and the fact that it ended in a different way from the other episodes and series makes it even more unique and outside the box
If you analyze the scenario carefully, this show really takes a dark turn, Rob is trying to save everyone from the void, this is somehow a real life scenario on how CN is going to end TAWOG, In the episode " The future " we see Rob trying to know about the future, but banana joe's mom was dark hinting that here is no future... this episode fully reveals that... there really is no future.... this is basically the " END " point of Tawog, in a " Cliff Hanger " as shown by Rob's final seconds in the Inquisition, CN cutting the program in the end shows that there will never be a bright future for Tawog, and thus this episode only now showing it's end, and whether there will really be a movie or not.. if there's a movie there will be a happy ending, but if there's not. then basically, this is it... the ending stasis for Tawog, a very dark dreaded ending, and the worst part of this, we won't get to see it because the void has already expanded and Rob falling,... TAWOG is a very special cartoon.. and i am glad it ended this way, it shows how much details the devs / writers and animators how crafty they can get with the show.
going back to this, its been a year and still nothing. but the stroke of genius here comes from the fact that the ending can be interpreted as both a finale and a connector to a possible movie or true finale episode. they dont know if theyd be allowed that so they made do with both an unsettling finale/cliffhanger it just works, as upset as i am
Actually, I loved the episode! It is absolutely brilliant! I like this ending much better than the "classic" endings other shows do, like phineas and ferb (I mean they are not bad, but they are very expected, just, gumball's way is my cup of tea) It is an just amazing idea to finish a series by making it fall to its own void! I just loved it a lot!!!😅😅

Season 7 of The Amazing World of Gumball was announced by Cartoon Network on September 4th 2020 and was ordered on December 20th 2020. It will consist 50 episodes, including one crossover special. After departing at Season 6, Ben came back to help with some episodes of the series. happiest moment in my fucking life

Anyone else remember the paintings? In the episode "the oracle", banana Barbara is seen with a painting that shows the watersons running through the void in a panic In the episode titled "the future", she's seen once again, painting things that have all ready happened, but also with other paintings filled with tv static and a mysterious man. At the end of the episode, when she paints rob back into existence, she also ends up painting his own fate while staring at the viewers saying *"but there is no future,"*
The fact it leaves you unsatisfied just supports how it's a really good episode. It basically aimed for that for it to be treated like any other episode just like any other day...
You know what I think happened? I think after the world collapsed on Rob it closed up, and everything went back to normal. Gumball marries Penny, Darwin marries Carrie, and Anais is now a teenager.
I honestly think this is sadly a really great yet lowkey somber ending to the series. The Amazing World of Gumball is known for always trying to mix it up and do something different, and oddly enough this finale definitely feels like a Gumball move to me at least.

Would be crazy if there is a movie and at the end of it, the family escape through another world and become another shows, which will make a new show on cartoon network, that would be a huge wall breaker

Many people don’t realise that the Bad Ending is the ONLY ending. There is no good ending, because once the show ends, they all fall into the void.
That is the sheer brilliance of the show.
The only good ending thry want is an epic final battle, followed by a fast-forward into the future with everyone happy and their ships confirmed (Penny and Gumball; Darwin and Carrie). Frankly, it's getting tired (even Regular Show had it so that way Mordecai ended up with someone other than Margaret or CJ [though a writer said online that Margaret is still friends with Mordecai, but is too busy with her news anchor career to see him while CJ became a pro dodgeball player and has cut off all ties with Mordecai]) and is emblematic of that problem that Fry pointed out on the Futurama episode with "Single Female Lawyer": Clever things make people feel dumb, unexpected things make people scared, and people would rather be happy with seeing something they've seen 1000 times before instead of something different.

I just finished binging the entire series a day ago and that got me thinking about the actual story of the world. He’s how I think it goes. So the timeline begins at S3 E12 The Void. Gumball and Darwin notice that Molly is missing and are determined to find her. With the help of Mr. Small, they manage to find the void, a place for all the mistakes. Another character is already there too, Rob. All he wanted was to be a part of the world of Gumball but the universe said no, and he was cast into the void. But when Gumball and the gang escape with Molly, Rob clings to existence and Mr. Small’s van and manages to escape. His body is disfigured and left glitching when he makes it back to the real world and unfortunately his memory is completely eradicated too. Rob, having no place to go, eventual ends up hiding out in Gumball’s basement until he is discovered as seen in S3 E36. Gumball and Darwin catch Rob and Rob tells them that he has no place in the universe. Gumball then tells Rob that he can be the bad guy of this world. Then something triggers in Rob’s head and he remembers everything and how he was abandoned, and Rob makes a promise to become Gumball’s nemesis. Around this time it is also established that Banana Barbara can paint the future in S3 E31 but we’ll come back to that later. More episodes pass and the two episodes S4 E2 The Nemesis and S4 E30 The Bus are just episodes with Rob that don’t necessarily serve any purpose in the story so they aren’t worth looking at too much. But the episode S4 E40 The Disaster has a lot to offer. Rob comes in possession of a quite literal universal tv remote. He screws up Gumball’s life with it and at the end forces him into the void in order to save the remote and undo all of the mess Rob made. Gumball manages to hit the rewind button and is given a second chance in S5 E1 The Rerun, hence the name. Unfortunately Rob still is able to send him to the void but he doesn’t. Why? It’s because he knows what it’s like in there, he knows what it’s like to be trapped in an eternal abyss of nothingness. Rob realizes the remote is too powerful and goes back in time and destroys it. More episodes pass and two more episodes, S5 E25 The Ex and S6 E21 The Spinoffs and just more episodes with Rob that don’t serve any purpose except to show his evil schemes. Now here’s where the story gets weird and a little creepy. In S6 E34 The Future, Rob captures Banana Barbara because he needs her to paint the future so he knows what happens next. Now this is the part that I’m a little confused on, how did Rob know of Banana Barbara’s power? It’s never established in the story that Rob has encountered her before as this is their first time seeing each other, so how did it happen? Well I don’t have an answer but it’s not impossible to think that Rob saw Barbara’s paintings of events that already happened because Gumball did the exact same thing in S3 E31 The Oracle. This is my best guess but I wish there was proof, but sometimes in theories you gotta draw conclusions based on previous evidence. I believe the reason that Rob wanted Barbara’s help was so that he could know how he could destroy Gumball. But after seeing her paint nothing but static, he remembers the void and how it was nothing but static. He begins to shift gears and starts to wonder not about the future of his rivalry with Gumball, but rather the future of this world. Unfortunately Gumball and his friends show up to rescue Barbara before Rob can figure out what will happen to Elmore. He tries to stop them but fails. When he is trapped he says the words, “This is more important than you!” and “No, you dot get it!” These lines show that Rob’s attention is turned towards figuring out the fate of his world. But he is inevitably erased from existence once again, this time by Barbara’s own power. Gumball, feeling bad about erasing Rob asks Barbara to paint him back into existence and “tells” Rob he’ll se him in the future. But then Banana Barbara mutters the words, “But there is no future.” The episode turns to static, but you’re able to see a figure, an old man for a glimpse of a second, and then it ends. Then ten episodes later, Gumball’s finale arrived, called S6 E44 The Inquisition. In it, we see the old man teased in S6 E34 The Future, his name is revealed to be Superintendent Evil. He says he aims to fix the school and it’s ridiculous ways. Then one by one he calls each student down to fix them. What he’s really doing is turning them into more humanoid characters. Gumball and Darwin manage to escape but decide to go back in and save their friends. They are able to turn them all back by reminding them of who they really are, quirky and outlandish characters. The schools corners Superintendent Evil and stops him from escaping. They then unmask him and are shocked at who it is, Rob. Rob tries to explain why he did what he did and what will happen to this world, but Tina the T-Rex knocks him out just before he can finish. The episode flashes forward to the nighttime where Rob has just woken up. He’s frustrated at everyone for not listening to him and explains that transformation was the only way to escape to the other place before this world-. But he’s cut off by a loud crack followed by the sudden appearance of a giant hole. Rob falls in but manages to grab on to the edge. But he can’t hold on and as his grip slips he says the words, “It’s starting.” And Rob falls into the void while screaming and the franchise ends there, a literal cliffhanger. Now let’s backup a bit to previous episodes. In S6 E34 The Future, when Banana Barbara painted Rob back into existence, he was falling and had a curly pig tail, and wouldn’t you know it, but in the final shot of the show, it’s shows Rob falling into the void with a curly pig tail barely noticeable, it’s and exact replica of the painting. But if you thought that was unsettling, just wait. In S3 E31 The Oracle, at the end of the episode Barbara painted one more painting showing the Wattersons running from the disaster behind them. But it wasn’t just a regular disaster, it was the void. That painting was future of Elmore as seen in the final episode, with the world falling apart around them. The show predicted its own ending WAY before it arrived! And I believe that’s where the story ends, The Amazing World of Gumball begins to crumble apart and is cast into the void never to be seen again. It’s a sad and disappointing ending and it makes me unsettled whenever I think about the final scene. But I don’t want to dwell on the bad part, Gumball was by far the best show on CN (in my opinion), and I’m glad I got to experience it. Thank you if you read all of this, it took a while to put together the whole story

Guys this ending makes sense. Remember The Vegging? It wasn't a normal episode. Did you see the ending? A bunch of things that were weird, even for the TAWOG universe, happened, and Gumball and Darwin did nothing. Then, on the wall, a message appeared (as if, just _painted_ into existence) trying to tell them about what was going to happen, and they ignored it. THEN we have an episode with Rob and Banana Barbara, who we know can paint things into existence. Barbara shows Rob that there is no future, and Rob tries to tell Gumball and Darwin, but they remove him from existance. Lastly, Rob finds a way for there to be a future, and everyone, again, ignores him. But, Rob IS the villain. He's not trying to help. He wanted them to be live action in order to avoid cancellation. It would be a lose/lose situation for everyone. Viewers and characters.
Also, remember, Banana Joe was his nemesis for a while. He most likely saw her painting while he was trying to (ahem, murder) Banana Joe, then he kidnapped her.
They were trying to disguise themselves as humans to fit in to the real world after their show ends because they cannot be in the real world as cartoons

There is also an episode where gumball, Darwin, and Anais find paintings made by Banana Joe's mom. One of the paintings in the episode had some of that lore in it. This specific painting shows gumball and his family running away from something INSIDE the void. Banana Joe's mom probably predicted the show was going to end before Rob did.
And in another episode based around banana joe’s mon she says “but there is no future”

Theory! (Yes I am aware this was one year ago!) They KNEW the ending from the beginning. They decided to just ignore it and live life as they could before their world was “thrown away”. Once the “glitches” rob, the other female Dino (Molly) found out, they tried to change. Molly being cast away and forgetting she ever knew, but rob still remembering. When he found out he always tried to come back and “save the day” by making the episode more interesting. Another thing is that the people of Elmore forgot about knowing about the ending, and they thought rob was just faking it. The “higher ups” or the creator/animators decided to get rid of Rob due to knowing that he would try to tell them again and again. But hey, this is just my own theory...

And when he can’t- he breaks down, maybe because he knows if he breaks character, then he could be “taken off air” or “removed as a character from the show” permanently or for a while. Maybe that’s another reason Rob was so glitched. He acted out of character so he “disappeared” for the longest time. (He was in the VERY FIRST episode and rarely seen again)

Why is no one talking about the episode "the future" when Rob takes banana Barbara and asks her to paint the future and all she paints is static. And when gumball said at the end of the episode, "bye Rob. See you in the future." Banana Barbara said "there is no future." Meaning she knew the show was ending and that's how Rob found out what was going to happen. So, I think he wanted to turn everyone into humans so they could escape to reality and they could live in the real world so they wouldn't fall into the void and be forgotten. But I really hope there will be a movie so that could be explained and in the movie they could possibly escape to reality *OR* maybe banana Barbara could change the future by erasing the void in her paintings and save everyone in the movie if they make one. Idk that's just what I thought when I watched the episode.

Rob was supposed to be Gumball’s sidekick before Darwin was adopted. But since the position of sidekick had been taken, Rob was sent into the void. He had to have a part to play or else he would be sent back to the void. So he had to become the villain. Now, Imagine if the guy who owned the awesome store got all of his stuff from the void. That means Darwin belongs to the void.

Spoiler alert: dont read if you have possibly not watched any of the previous episodes in the show that I am referencing
I think it makes sense, if the show falls into the void, wouldn't it just delete itself, meaning no more episodes, no more gumball. But it would have been an interesting episode to see gumball's world crumbling and gumballs friends and familly trying to save it or escaped it. Like in the picture banana joes mom paints in that one episode, when they find out she can paint the future. It would also explain the comment banana joes mom made in the episode where she is kidnapped by rob.
I remember an episode of when banana Barbara (banana joes mom) (who also can draw the future) painted a picture of static in the background and floating islands and the wattersons hugging each other in in fright and I’m pretty sure that that was what happened after it ended

I think the reason rob was turning them into live action humans wasn’t to keep the show going but instead to help them escape the cartoon world and enter the real life human world in efforts to escape entering the void like we see in one of banana Barbara’s paintings where the whole watterson family is trapped in the void, scared and running bc they don’t understand why they aren’t in Elmore anymore and instead in the world of forgotten things bc they chose ignorance and don’t know that the show has ended therefore their world has ended

Probably one of the most brutal endings in a kids show.
It’s weird but sometimes I like endings like that cuz its different than these typical happy endings.
I both like and dont like the way it ended, I guess to me it felt like there's was gonna be a part 2 to it til I found out that was the end of it and I just kinda disappointed myself cuz it's what I was expecting, I don't think the ending is bad, I just set myself up for disappointment basically :')

Random detail I noticed: When the outside view of the school is being shown before Rob, the doors are all red like the real location, when they are usually pink, blue, and orange, to match the colors of the Watterson children.

Late but, In an episode. Banana joe’s mom had the power to paint the future. Rob kidnapped her in order to kill gum all and Darwin. A picture showing rob falling into the void. Possibly foreshadowing.

I literally just found out this is the last episode 😭 Anyway, here is my theory!
Rob was trying to turn everyone into live action versions of their character because of real life. In real life, live action movies are getting more and more popular, while animated movies aren't. Rob was trying to save them from getting unpopular or forgotten, just like how he was forgotten. He tried to make every one live action so they could be popular, remembered. Rob knew all of this, and tried to prevent them from going into the void (where things are forgotten) but failed in the end. Because he failed, the show ended, everything went in the void.
Tl,Dr: Rob was trying to turn everyone into live action characters cause that is more popular than animation now a days.
Nothing against animated movies/TV shows, I love most of them!
Not really the live action Disney movies get more unoriginal with each release.
This was the most fullfilling end i have ever seen i showed how life doesn't always end well it was a master piece to me and also left us wanting more which is great and the fact that it ended in a different way from the other episodes and series makes it even more unique and outside the box
If you analyze the scenario carefully, this show really takes a dark turn,
Rob is trying to save everyone from the void, this is somehow a real life scenario on how CN is going to end TAWOG, In the episode " The future " we see Rob trying to know about the future, but banana joe's mom was dark hinting that here is no future...
this episode fully reveals that... there really is no future.... this is basically the " END " point of Tawog, in a " Cliff Hanger " as shown by Rob's final seconds in the Inquisition, CN cutting the program in the end shows that there will never be a bright future for Tawog, and thus this episode only now showing it's end, and whether there will really be a movie or not.. if there's a movie there will be a happy ending, but if there's not. then basically, this is it... the ending stasis for Tawog, a very dark dreaded ending, and the worst part of this, we won't get to see it because the void has already expanded and Rob falling,...
TAWOG is a very special cartoon.. and i am glad it ended this way, it shows how much details the devs / writers and animators how crafty they can get with the show.

but the stroke of genius here comes from the fact that the ending can be interpreted as both a finale and a connector to a possible movie or true finale episode. they dont know if theyd be allowed that so they made do with both an unsettling finale/cliffhanger it just works, as upset as i am
Actually, I loved the episode! It is absolutely brilliant! I like this ending much better than the "classic" endings other shows do, like phineas and ferb (I mean they are not bad, but they are very expected, just, gumball's way is my cup of tea) It is an just amazing idea to finish a series by making it fall to its own void! I just loved it a lot!!!😅😅

A bunch of things that were weird, even for the TAWOG universe, happened, and Gumball and Darwin did nothing. Then, on the wall, a message appeared (as if, just _painted_ into existence) trying to tell them about what was going to happen, and they ignored it. THEN we have an episode with Rob and Banana Barbara, who we know can paint things into existence. Barbara shows Rob that there is no future, and Rob tries to tell Gumball and Darwin, but they remove him from existance. Lastly, Rob finds a way for there to be a future, and everyone, again, ignores him. But, Rob IS the villain. He's not trying to help. He wanted them to be live action in order to avoid cancellation. It would be a lose/lose situation for everyone. Viewers and characters.

You know what I think happened? I think after the world collapsed on Rob it closed up, and everything went back to normal. Gumball marries Penny, Darwin marries Carrie, and Anais is now a teenager.

I honestly think this is sadly a really great yet lowkey somber ending to the series. The Amazing World of Gumball is known for always trying to mix it up and do something different, and oddly enough this finale definitely feels like a Gumball move to me at least.
I loved this finale . I wish there was something with the family but I still sobbed and enjoyed this ending deeply
