Casting Coins - Melting Copper Melting Zinc Making Aluminum Bronze Alloy - The Growing Stack

  • I set out to make a bunch of coins today and did just that. I visited my favorite store and picked up some zinc, copper, and some 6061 aluminum that I decided to save for another casting project. In the end, I ended up with over 9kg | 20lbs of coins that got added to the stack. I hope you enjoy watching this one as much as I did making it...
Here are some links where you can find the coin molds that I used in the video:

Hey everyone, I hope you are all doing wonderful. This one’s a little long, but it kind of had to be with the amount of pours for the small coins. I poured a couple bars but only focused on the coins for this one. Let me know what you think of the new coin molds. I included some links in the description to the Etsy stores where I got the molds. I hope you enjoy and I’ll see all you beautiful people on the next one…

Zinc or a Zinc alloy is what a lot of belt buckles are made with. Brass is also used. Championship title belt plates are usually cast in Zinc and then gold plated. The plating process is something else. mainly chemicals that do it.

Hey my friend... great to see you again.. funny thing is I went looking because i hadnt seen anything from ya in a bit and thought youtube unsubbed me again and then BOOM!!! in my feed there ya are!!! LOL another awesome pour..i agree it seems the zin is the best for showing details but some of the others did really well also.. do you think the hotter you pour helps show better details of the molds or castings?? because they flow better when being poured or do you think it is mainly the material being poured?? I don't think you have done this but perhaps you should do a casting of The Growing Stack to hang above your shelves.. with some kind of design around it.. i know always got something to suggest to you LOL but i do love the detail of the zinc coins alot.. between you and BigStackD i am thinking i need to save so i can buy a furnace and some molds..i actually have some 7 gallon cylinder already just sitting around and most the tools to do anything i need.. seems very relaxing and seems like it would help "Center" me again... am going to have to see if we have any metal places around me like that store... that is awesome to have... be a shame if i had to come out there and we all have lunch or dinner after shopping for metal LOL be well my friend and stay safe doing everything in your life.. Happy Holidays and much love and respect to you and your family.

Thank you so much zazz69ed! I always love hearing from you my friend! Always! And it’s not you, it’s me 😂 I have been so incredibly busy, I haven’t been able to get a video up for almost a month! I think heat plays just as much a factor as the material, but getting both material and temp in tune to pour is key. Zinc is definitely awesome at getting the detail out of anything it touches. Where do you live? I’m curious what stores might be in the area. Thank you for the well wishes and I wish you and yours a Happy Holidays as well!!
