There's an 80's movie called "Better Off Dead" starring John Cusack that is one of my favorite 80's comedies. Christmas Vacation has been an absolute staple in my life since it came out.
Definitely Fletch! They're a great blend of Chevy's straight and comedic acting. Caddyshack is also a great suggestion. It's a classic comedy that everyone who likes comedies should see, if only for the scene between Chevy and Billy Murray.
@ Have you seen the Caddyshack documentary? They talk about much those two hated each other, and since that was their only scene together they just improvised the whole thing in just a take or two to get it over with 🤣
@@maxoutkast Haven't seen the documentary, but I think I heard somewhere that they didn't like each other. This is one of my favorite Christmas movies because it is a lot more grounded than some other movies. It's over the top at times, but the foundation of someone wanting to have the perfect Christmas for their family is very realistic. This movie is so quotable and even the slapstick parts are great. I always laugh hysterically when he goes sledding and I have great memories of my grandpa always having a full on belly laugh when the turkey comes out dry and everyone is eating it like jerky. Such a great movie.
I highly recommend " it's a wonderful life" after watching I realized where every other movie ever got inspiration from, even scenes from Scorsese's "Goodfellas". ❤
I have watched so many reviews of people watching this movie, and NOBODY catches and reacts to Eddie smashing the light bulbs that Clark puts down on top of the other bags of dog food! lol Man, that's one of my favorite parts! lol Great reaction though to the rest of it!

The parts of Russ & Audrey are casted by different actors every Vacation film that came out. Like James Bond, when they cast different people to play the same character.
This is one of my favorite holiday movies. The scene Todd asks Clark "Hey Griswold, what are you going to do with a tree that big?" Clark responds "Why don't you bend over and I'll shoelw you". What Clark says next is hilariously funny. Simply a Christmas classic.
Hi Chandra & Jordan, great to see you both enjoying this classic Xmas comedy. Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year to you & your family !! Season`s Greetings to your other Subscribers & commentators !! :)
Thank you for your reaction to this movie. People forget that this is a non-thinking comedy. I have seen this movie so many times and always find something new
Thank you for watching it in order, many reacters skip to this one and don't get to experience the full dread effect of seeing cousin Eddie. This is an iconic Christmas movie.
"You surprised?" "Surprised, Eddie? If I woke up tomorrow with my head sewn to the carpet, I wouldn't be more surprised than I am right now." Merry Christmas! ✝️ 🙏 🎄 🎁 Fun Fact: Clark (Chevy Chase) uses thirty words to describe his boss. Final Bow Fact: Final film of Mae Questel, whose film career began in 1930, as the voice of Betty Boop. Casting Notes Fact: Former National Lampoon group member Nicholas Guest, who plays Todd, is brother to actor and former Lampoon and SNL actor Christopher Guest. What Script Fact: Beverly D'Angelo improvised grabbing Chevy Chase's crotch when the SWAT team held up the house. She later said she did it on only one take, on the off chance it could make the film's final cut, which is what happened. Location Location Fact: The house in which the neighbors, Todd (Nicholas Guest) and Margo (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), live in is the same house where the Murtaugh family lived in all four Lethal Weapon movies. The houses on this street are on the Warner Brothers backlot. Signature Joke Fact: After Clark Griswold unsuccessfully attempts to demonstrate his handiwork with the house Christmas lights to his family, he asks Rusty (Johnny Galecki) to help him check all the light bulbs again. Rusty looks at his bare wrist, pretending to have a watch, and excuses himself. Looking at a bare wrist and pretending to have a watch is one of Chevy Chase's trademark gags.
Another fun fact: When Clark is roasting his boss, the rest of the cast is holding cue cards with the insults on them, and Chevy read them off at random. "Hallelujah! Holy shit! Where's the Tylenol?!"
More fun facts - After failing to get the Christmas lights to work one last time, Clark Griswold takes his frustration out on the plastic decorations in the front yard. Chevy Chase actually broke his pinky finger while punching Santa Claus. He resorts to kicking and clubbing the decorations after that until the director yelled "cut" as to not ruin the take. He went to the hospital shortly afterwards and they bandaged up his finger (which is why you see Clark wearing gloves and/or mittens at different points throughout the film, until the finger was healed enough to be shown). When Clark and Cousin Eddie (Randy Quade) are talking in the living room, they are drinking eggnog out of Walley World mugs. Walley World was the Griswolds' destination in the original 'NP: Vacation'. When Clark is in bed, trying to read People Magazine with sticky fingers from the tree sap, the person shown on the cover of the magazine is director Jeremiah S. Chechik. When the police storm into the Griswolds' house, the song "Here Comes Santa Claus," sung by the late Gene Autry is used for the background music. Randy Quaid (Cousin Eddie) is the third cousin of the late Gene Autry. When Clark is first greeted by his boss Mr. Shirley (Brian Doyle Murray - comedian Bill Murray's real life brother), Clark is drinking coffee out of Lonely Tunes Taz coffee cup, Miriam Flynn (who plays cousin Catherine - Eddie's wife) voices Taz's mom on the family animated series 'Tazmania'. This movie has four Oscar nominees: Juliette Lewis, Diane Ladd, Randy Quaid, and William Hickey.
If you don't know Danny Kay, you ABSOLUTELY should react to The Court Jester. An incredible movie from back in the days when actors really had to have talent. 😃. For another Chevy Chase movie Funny Farm is one of his that is similar. Merry Christmas y'all.
We watch this movie every year, but it took my young son to notice the police pointing the pews at the little girl's head because the focus was on the hand on Clark's wee. LOL
I’m not sure if you all are Big Bang theory fans.. and I’m also not sure if you’ve noticed while watching the movie, but Russ is actually played by Johnny Galecki (Leonard) in this one.
Actor Johnny Galecki plays Clark's son Rusty. Today he is best known for his role as Darlene Conner's boyfriend David in the TV sitcom Roseanne and as Leonard in the TV sitcom Big Bang Theory
Jordan gave it away. You guys are watching it's a wonderful life next week. He had a sheepish quick grin when Russ was watching it's a wonderful life when the grandparents arrived. Also rush's Johnny Galecki from The Big Bang Theory
The actresses portraying Audrey was replaced twice. Dana Barron was in NLV, then again for NLEV. Child actress, Dana Hill, was in European Vacation. She had serious health issues due to type 1 diabetes. She struggled with setbacks, but her health continued to fail, and she lost her battle in the mid 1990's.

The neighbours are “yuppies”, the 80s term for DINK (double income no kids). The joke is that they are stereotypical annoying yuppies. It doesn’t translate too well these days however. 😊
Yuppies are still real in this day and age alright, people just don’t typically call them that anymore. Upper middle class snobs who hate getting dirty and the outdoors and look down on other people. Basically it’s people I hate, along with right wing conservatives and anti climate change government officials and corporate stooges of course!!!
In Vermont you can go to the forrestry department and pay for a permit to cut down a tree and haul it out of the woods yourself! The permit fee is only $5.00 too. The only problem is the forrestry department designates areas in the state to harvest trees, and those areas are NOT at the side of any easily accessable roads...expect to hike a fair bit to find a suitable tree...and don't forget your saw!!!
There's a deleted scene at the tree farm where you can see a sign for shovel rentals. That's how they got the tree out of the ground. Which would still be impossible but there you go.

And Olive Oyl.
They always recast the kids. It is a running gag that each Vacation movie has different actors playing Rusty and Audrey.
They even make a joke about it all in Vagas Vacation. "There is something different about you Russ"....
Clark says something to the effect of: The kids are growing so fast, i barely see them n when i do i barely recognize em!
And Rusty is somehow quite a bit younger in this movie lol
One of the best and funniest Christmas comedies ever.
