There is a video that's about an hour long that shows all the shooting location, including forbidden forrest, and the various places shot for various parts of the castle, including the late ant some of the shots. Worth watching if you're a fan. I wish they'd nail the castle and I'd lay out form the beginning for the upcoming tv series. In the movies the layout keeps changing in each movie, including the castle's silhouette too. Would be so cool to be able to rewatch the series when it's done and know where the characters actually are in the castle and when they move from one scene to another that the logistics are accounted for, I think it's something that would make the show so much more immersive.

I can't overstate how miraculous this first movie is. What a cast. What a great production. The sets, the costume design, everything...

A little behind the scenes of the movies. Each movie covers one year of school. It took 10 years to film all 8 movies, so the kids were still close to their characters' age. actually that's false. they didn't film every year. by the time the Order of the Phoenix came out they were already 18 or 19 in real life . Daniel Emma and Rupert were nearly 22 when they filmed the last film the characters are 17 in book 7. not to mention the legal age to leave home and start Adulthood in the UK is 16. from a UK point of view they were way past childhood by the end .and not the characters age. legally speaking they had to be older than the characters because they had to film adult content in the woods

18:19 That is the late Oscar and Tony winning actor Richard Harris. He was in the 2nd film, but that was the end of his life. Before he died, he told the director on his "death bed" that he did not want to be replaced. After he died, Michael Gambon replaced him for the rest of the movies.

I've never seen the US version before and they actually do say "Sorcerer's Stone" instead of the original "Philosopher's Stone". That means they had to film those scenes twice.
Saying "i want to know what house I would be in" just lit every single harry potter fan's heart on fire and I'm sure they're all going to rush to the comment section to tell you that you can. lol there's a website out there where you can get take a quiz and get sorted and get your wand type and all that. I'm sure someone will link it. I don't know what it's called.
First of all, your laugh is adorable 😊 Secondly great reaction and you ‘get’ Harry Potter and the world of Hogwarts. The music, set design, costume, pacing, editing, script, acting, all on point and you are mesmerised and absorbed in the best possible way. The first film is lovely, the 2nd is more or less a great continuation, but the 3rd onwards is where this ratchets up a level, becomes darker, more intriguing and more suspenseful, whilst still retaining friendships and some light hearted humour. I predict at the end of this you will regard Harry Potter as your favourite franchise of all time.
I guess that ultimately comes down to personal preference deciding the genre, but for someone who runs a reaction channel and has experienced a lot of films, Harry Potter is an rather unlikely choice. Although, as far as fantasy films go, there are not many who can match the creative quality of Harry Potter, if you‘re willing to ignore all the weaknesses in worldbuilding, characters, and plot lines.
Loving your reaction so much Chandra! You remind me of myself with the books when I first read them. They would just suck you into this world and you'd find yourself unable to put them down. Always needing to read the next chapter. See where this or that was going. Man I love them still to this day.
Something that made a lot more sense in the book . . . the sorting hat spoke to you inside your head as it was trying to decide which house to put you in the only thing the rest of the people in the great hall heard was when it shouted out the house name at the end. So the whole conversation about Harry not wanting to be in Slytherin happened inside his head NOT said out loud in front of everyone. Also, for anyone who doesn't know although most people watching a reaction video probably DO, each house has personality traits that define the people who go into that house, and the hat uses what's in your head to decide which house is most likely to be the best fit for you. As people are complex and don't fit neatly into boxes, sometimes the hat takes a long time to decide where you should go, and sometimes it decides very quickly. I know many people don't like to read the books but there's so much more detailed than the films. The stairs at the school don't just move, there's staircases with steps that vanish if you step on them so you have to remember to skip that one there's doors that won't open unless you tickle them in the right spot . There's a ton of stuff that's completely cut out of the films. As good as they are I'd still recommend everyone read the books.
A little bit of information concerning Ron's confidence while playing chess. Because the movies won't tell you about it. While Harry and Hermione's skills are made quite obvious during the whole series, Ron's are little more subtle. But one of his most obvious skill, is being outstanding at playing chess. That chess game he faces in this movie, and the first book, was set up by Professor McGonagall. Therefore, Ron is playing McGonagall and wins. He will remain undefeated throughout the whole series anytime he plays chess. So yeah, he has every reason to be confident for this.
A "bezoar" (the thing Snape asks Harry for) is a mass of indigestible material found in the digestive tract, and can get stuck if it is attempted to pass it. They were collected in England and other places for their supposed magical healing properties.
So, it's a small thing, but I bought "floating candles" for Halloween. They hang from fishing line, and come with a wand/remote to activate them. You don't want them, you *need* them. Great job! 😄👍
I feel Harry's pain now. 1 year ago just before Christmas my dad passed away from cancer. I am truly trying very hard to be strong in the face of the holidays as to not spoil the mood of those around me, but it is difficult as dad was my superman. I miss him very much.
I love looking back at all the moments where you're made to be suspicious of Snape. You can see Quirrell nearby in the background. Like the Sorting Hat ceremony when Harry's scar hurts. He and the viewer look at Quirrell, but right next to him is Quirrell facing away (so Voldemort is looking at him under the turban).
@@NecramoniumVideo Sure. Snape is a dick. But I would rather not mention anything about later movies or characters here out of respect for the first time reactor.
You are literally going through every thought that I had reading the books as an 11 year old 😆 Rowling really does make you want to live in her wizarding world.
So, to clear up any confusion, when you see this movie or book, you will notice it's the only one in the series with two titles like you will hear it be called Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone and the other one is called Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone; The Sorcerer's Stone is the US title for the book and movie. The Philosopher's Stone is the UK and the real original title; whenever the US gets a movie or something from another country, we rename it so it can be more marketable to Americans.
Jordan could join you at the end to both make an appearance and clarify anything without spoilers to assist you going forward with confidence in your understanding. :D
Welcome to the world of Harry Potter. The whole series is brilliant. British literature on the big screen. Excellent casting, acting and sets. The music is also wonderful. And it just keeps getting better and better and ....... And after 7 movies all is revealed. Mike in Oz
@@maplenutsreact Honestly, you tend to talk about twice as much as Jordan anyway in your regular reactions, so thankfully you can carry the weight on your own! Although it is great to hear you two discuss things and bounce theories off each other in things you both haven't seen.
Watching someone watch this movie for the first time is very much "my mental comfort food", like I've said many times before. So finding this one for this day of all days - You just made my Christmas! 😊
Yes!! You and this franchise are perfect together. Sweetness overload! My partner and I can't wait to watch your reaction to the whole franchise. ❤❤❤ P.S. Jordan, you are missed! But this is also cool as hell, especially if it is bonus content! 🥰 Chandra, you did so great on your own!
If you liked it this much, you should definitely read the books. There's so much more magicalness in them, and the same vibe! Plus you said you like mystery, and all of the books (more so than the movies) are structured as mysteries.
Iguanas can be spectacular and interesting. I didn't have one as a pet, but I've had giant asian water monitors, gila monsters, and a Mexican beaded lizard, along with pythons, boas, anacondas, gaboon vipers, rhinoceros vipers, jumping vipers, an Indian cobra, alligators, caimans, among many other reptiles. I used to give educational talks with reptiles.
I was never super "into" the series, but it's always nice to rewatch them. Especially the first movies have a lot of whimsy to them. You don't see that sort of tone or effort in modern movies anymore.
I'm enough of a film fan to recognize Rowling's brilliance in taking so much loved from other works and combining it in a fresh way with so many other's it becomes it's own thing in spite of the sources. Harry starts like Cinderella in his abuse at home for example. I could go on but the films do that better than I. :D
@@terrylandess6072 The movie is also pretty honest about what it is. You want Harry to win and succeed. It's just kids with low stakes (in this movie), and while you can see the line of "It was her love" coming a mile away, it just feels like it fits so well and doesn't come off as cheesy.
Excellent reaction. I love watching people discover HP. Its like falling in love with it all over again. As far as your house there are several quizzes online. I would recommend doing a couple different ones as results can vary. I cant wait to see you do the whole series.

Did you see in the flashback about lily and James’s death, when Voldemort gets into their house, and lily tries to slam the door, you can see her lips : she was screaming James :( It’s really sad, but a cool feature
The exact same hour I thought I might again watch some Harry Potter reactions after years, one of my favourite reactors (you), so intelligent and beautiful, drops a video! :) What in the world? :)
This was a great reaction to all the great things that J K Rowling imagined. If you get a chance to read the books, as good as the movies are, the books are 10 times better. Thank you for sharing and Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
Yes... If it were not for JK Rowling..many of these young stars wouldn't be known...Draco and Luna stood with JK a few years back when most of the 'stars' turned their backs... JK Rowling is a talented writer and deserves loads of praise...
I just found your channel in the recommended section and I am so glad. It is so special to see someone reacting to this and other movies. Please, please, please react to all Harry Potter movies, I will be looking forward to it.
Someone may have already mentioned it, but there are several online quizzes that tell you which house you would be in. Tremendous fun, especially when it comes to buying birthday gifts and the like in a person's "house". (Think Hufflepuff socks!)
Even watching as an adult you can imagine how amazing and captivating these movies were for children absolutely addictive and amazing films even now as a adult.
Richard Griffiths (Vernon Dursley) was the sweetest man who took special care for the kids in the film, so sad he's gone. Also, the thing about Slytherins is not that they're where the bullies and bad eggs go who eventually turn into monstrous villains... Slytherin House encourages ambition and cunning, cultivating the drive to reach your goals. It can be very difficult for children to learn the need to temper ambition with morality, and not simply going for what they want no matter the cost. Having Snape as their House Master isn't exactly helping matters either, as he was bullied, and figured the best way to defeat the bully was to become the bully :/ There's something to be said for fostering the kind of determination needed to see things done despite all opposition, but one has to be able to calculate the effects of their achievements and whether on the whole it will be a net positive or negative, and know when to quit if it's the latter. Hufflepuffs are known for their humility, loyalty and dedication, especially to their friends. Ravenclaws are known for their intellect and original thinking (and eccentricity), while Gryffindors are known for their courage, determination, and chivalry.
They start slow but are totally necessary.. you'll be amazed how dark it gets..hard to imagine its geared for kids by the end..super great... LOTR level entertainment 👍🔥
Glad you enjoyed! But the books are even better :P I guess it's pretty common people only watching the films now, but I just can't imagine anyone not liking the books if they're into the movies and read anything at all.
Good reaction because that's what most people end up feeling after watching these movies and you don't have to be a fan to enjoy them. As far as other fantasy movies I'd recommend the movie "Hell Boy", starring Ron Pearlman. It's a DC comic take off and well done, another fantasy movie that has been seriously overlooked is "Time Bandits", directed by Terry Gilliam who was one of the original Monty Python group of comedians. Time Bandits is a hidden gem that's a lot of fun and adventure watching it.
Welcome to The Wizarding World rabbit hole that is Harry Potter. The best thing about the Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone, to me is that the chambers following the third-floor corridor containing Fluffy each play to the strengths of Harry, Ron and Hermione. The Devil's Snare chamber caters to Hermione's knowledge of spells. (Even though she froze up out of fear in the book and had to be reminded that she was a witch by Ron) (Also in the book, a chamber containing potion vials also tested Hermione's knowledge) The room with the winged keys caters to Harry's skill with quidditch. And the chess room caters to Ron's knowledge of how to play chess. Side notes: The Sorting Hat chooses new students' houses based on their corresponding personality traits: Gryffindor-Bravery, helping others, and chivalry. Hufflepuff-Hard work, patience, loyalty, and fair play. Ravenclaw-Intelligence, knowledge, and wit. Slytherin-Ambition, cunning and resourcefulness. Erised (The Mirror of Erised) is the word desire spelled backward. Hedwig is a snowy owl. They have ruffled wing feathers to silence their flight so prey animals don't hear them coming. They also have natural camouflage due to their coloration, and they're the only birds of prey who don't have bare feet due to their habitats, like the Arctic Tundra. At the time of the deaths of Lily and James Potter at the hands of Voldemort, Harry was only 15 months old.

They treat it lightly in the opening scene, but in hindsight, Hagrid getting teary-eyed after where he just came from is extremely understandable.

Harry Melling (Dudley Dursley) was really good in "The Queen's Gambit". He really became an excellent actor and lost a lot of weight too. 🤣
4:37 The irony of saying "Justice" the same way Vernon does in a later movie lol.
A "bezoar" (the thing Snape asks Harry for) is a mass of indigestible material found in the digestive tract, and can get stuck if it is attempted to pass it. They were collected in England and other places for their supposed magical healing properties.
Always a great time seeing someone experience these stories for the first time.
Looking forward for Shandra to go through these films! 👍🏻
So, it's a small thing, but I bought "floating candles" for Halloween. They hang from fishing line, and come with a wand/remote to activate them. You don't want them, you *need* them. Great job! 😄👍
I was coming in here to say the same thing! 😂
I feel Harry's pain now. 1 year ago just before Christmas my dad passed away from cancer. I am truly trying very hard to be strong in the face of the holidays as to not spoil the mood of those around me, but it is difficult as dad was my superman. I miss him very much.
Thank you for sharing. Your enthusiasm beought back the feel of seeing this for the first time.
What's famous around the world about Harry porter is that Magic, spells, and war between good and evil
"It looks so tiny in his hand but it looks so big sitting there" - that's what she said 😅
I love looking back at all the moments where you're made to be suspicious of Snape. You can see Quirrell nearby in the background. Like the Sorting Hat ceremony when Harry's scar hurts. He and the viewer look at Quirrell, but right next to him is Quirrell facing away (so Voldemort is looking at him under the turban).
Still, Snape was still a dick towards Harry just because of Snape's past that we will learn in the next movies.
Those Ten Points at the end, were the only house points that Neville won in the entire year.
Mike in Oz
A solo reaction. Look at you. 😎
Hahaha I know right! Honestly, I was a little nervous doing it on my own, but you've all made me feel very supported ❤❤❤
@@maplenutsreact Honestly, you tend to talk about twice as much as Jordan anyway in your regular reactions, so thankfully you can carry the weight on your own! Although it is great to hear you two discuss things and bounce theories off each other in things you both haven't seen.
@@maplenutsreact you wasn't alone😊
Watching someone watch this movie for the first time is very much "my mental comfort food", like I've said many times before. So finding this one for this day of all days - You just made my Christmas! 😊
Yes!! You and this franchise are perfect together. Sweetness overload! My partner and I can't wait to watch your reaction to the whole franchise. ❤❤❤
P.S. Jordan, you are missed! But this is also cool as hell, especially if it is bonus content! 🥰 Chandra, you did so great on your own!
McGonagall is the person who gifted Harry the broom.
She was the Griffandor seeker when she attended Hogwarts.
Just wait, it gets better and better!
The thing that Neville forgot was his cloak. He is the only one not wearing one.
She still did that hot eyebrow flash at the intro even if it was subtle ❤️❤️❤️
23:07 I love this scene. Neville's not wearing his vest, that's what he's forgotten
YESSSS IM SO HAPPY YOU’RE DOING THIS❤
I was never super "into" the series, but it's always nice to rewatch them.
As far as fantasy movies go, she would absolutely love "Stardust."
A new person checking out Harry Potter, of course imma watch.
Enjoy the ride, its fireeeee
Welcome to the world of Harry Potter 😉. I really enjoyed your reaction . Happy holidays 🎉
You will LOVE all of these films. Glad i found your channel and to be on this journey with you.
The stakes will only increase, as will your love for the characters.
That‘s right! The films did a fantastic job to make even the worst characters likeable. The acting is incredible.
12:31 lol perfect reaction to that moment
14:24 lol
20:17 “OBviously…”
Enjoyed your reaction to this first one. Looking forward to watching their chemistry rest of your journey
Did you see in the flashback about lily and James’s death, when Voldemort gets into their house, and lily tries to slam the door, you can see her lips : she was screaming James :(
It’s really sad, but a cool feature
The exact same hour I thought I might again watch some Harry Potter reactions after years, one of my favourite reactors (you), so intelligent and beautiful, drops a video! :) What in the world? :)
Slytherin being snubbed at the end was so messed up lol
"how did they get all these owls?"
CG.
You can certainly search for how the movie was filmed and get all of the answers you seek! 🙌🙌 You will enjoy it!
You're going to love these movies
"You's a wizard, Harry!'
OK, and you're a hairy wizard, but let's not make judgements.
Yes, I know it's an old joke.
Even watching as an adult you can imagine how amazing and captivating these movies were for children absolutely addictive and amazing films even now as a adult.
Oh, I hope you'll watch all of the movies really soon! Looking forward to your next reactions!
Having Snape as their House Master isn't exactly helping matters either, as he was bullied, and figured the best way to defeat the bully was to become the bully :/
There's something to be said for fostering the kind of determination needed to see things done despite all opposition, but one has to be able to calculate the effects of their achievements and whether on the whole it will be a net positive or negative, and know when to quit if it's the latter.
Hufflepuffs are known for their humility, loyalty and dedication, especially to their friends. Ravenclaws are known for their intellect and original thinking (and eccentricity), while Gryffindors are known for their courage, determination, and chivalry.
Fun reaction! Can't wait for you to see the rest!
I love these films at Christmas so I am pumped to follow your reactions!!
there are online tests you can take to get
"sorted". I am a proud Gryffindor myself .
Yes John Williams is the mastermind on the OST. 💯
Excalibur is a great sword & sorcery telling of the story of King Arthur...really well done for an older movie.
(Even though she froze up out of fear in the book and had to be reminded that she was a witch by Ron)
(Also in the book, a chamber containing potion vials also tested Hermione's knowledge)
The room with the winged keys caters to Harry's skill with quidditch.
And the chess room caters to Ron's knowledge of how to play chess.
Side notes:
The Sorting Hat chooses new students' houses based on their corresponding personality traits:
Gryffindor-Bravery, helping others, and chivalry.
You should ask Jordan what his favourite HP is and bring him in for that one! That would be so good!
You're really going to love this series and when it comes to the sorting hat it takes your choice into account
on the DVD of this movie they had some little minigames and one was clicking on the right bricks to open up Diagon Alley
The great thing about these movies is they keep getting better
