Part of me wonders if the poor dialogue is partially due to the Toa Code. The Toa as a group had a strict moral code: killing intelligent beings was extremely frowned upon. They also typically avoided sneaking around and fighting at night so the Matoran they defended could see their deeds and not become suspicious of them. Betrayal of their opponents was also prohibited.
Yes, but the toa mata have spent their entire active career, up to this point, not knowing about the toa code, right? They're not like the toa hagah, who were part of a toa community from which to learn said code. I'm not even sure the toa metru knew about it, seeing as Lhikan explained almost nothing to them, and then their world fell apart.
In my head canon, he used it off-screen to get to places. Even here with the reunion of the Toa (as a Nuva he can share his mask power with others). Now that I think about it, his mask power opens up a lot of plot contrivances because super speed is such a broken power in writing. Like he could have been a much greater asset against the Rahkshi rather thsn just binding them up with his tools lol
I always enjoyed seeing the Toa rush in and save the day in this... but the Rahkshi... what happened to them? First they were terrifying, destructive creatures, suddenly they became stationary targets!
This sucks from how easy it was for the Toa to defeat Rahkshi . It would be would much interesting and amusing if it were much difficult. Plus if this could have the Bohrok, the Bohrok Kal, and Rahi foes.
People trashing the dialogue and lines og this movir in the comments but then they would say Frozen is the ultimate animated movie 10/10... and yeah pretty much any other disney movie, this movie dialogue for me is thousand times better than dialogue in Sould for instance.. and not because I'm a fan I know this movie was low budget and intended more as a promotional content than anything and yet it managed to do a decent job at least, then you have disney who produces the same quality content but they would spent millions of dollars in who knows why because I haven't seen any improvement in years
The animation is great if you watch the motion of the models closely you’ll notice several small details that modern never shows, how they move the masks as if they were living parts of the body and subtle motions with arms and legs that could’ve been stationary doing nothing they added those small details. Perhaps you are confused like many others and confuse how models look and how they move as animation is the ladder.
When i was a kid i never relized that the dialogs are kinda goofy lol

Rewatching the movie Pohatu is the only Toa who didn’t use his Mask Power in the entire film super speed would have been really handy with Tahrahk
