This review made me buy one. It’s my first baitcaster. I fished with it for the first time yesterday. I only had one bird nest, the wind hit the lure and I wasn’t paying attention. I have the tension set good and mag brake set at like 7ish. I’ll work on using my thumb more and not relying on the brake as much. I love it, it’s more satisfying to cast than a spinning reel. It seems like a quality combo. Its probably the best combo at Walmart besides the xfinity but they never have the xfinity in stock.
I got that Loews Infinity orange combo that usually list at Walmart for $97 dollars, for $40 bucks at Walmart. So always scan your bar codes because every now and then you will find stuff they want to clear out off the shelves. And this orange rod and reel combo is the best low cost bait caster I have ever owned. And it has an extremely smooth retrieve to it. Like butter! Amazing reel. So good I should have bought the other two they had. Once you set it. You will never have backlashes. Only thing I wish it had and really it does not matter. Is I wish the drag had that neat clicking sound like the high end bait caster. Other than that man you can not beat it.

Just as others have mentioned, it does need a dab of oil before you use it th-cam.com/users/postUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e - put a few drops in through the convenient screw cap and you are good to go! I have fished several weeks with a couple of these, and I will be getting more in the future. I put these against my Abu Garcia Pro Max reel, and they actually perform a bit better than the Abu with some of my lighter cranks, and definitely just as good with the rest of my lures. My Abu is a bit more low profile and fits my hand better, but these are definitely not bad at all. You can almost get 3 of these for the price of my Pro Max. My only complaint is the thumb bar sits pretty high compared to my traditional profile Abu. Bring that thumb bar down a little and I’m sold on these all day long.

I got an Abu-Garcia black max combo for my birthday in March and I am very pleased with it, I use it weekly and it has performed very well. My black max combo came with two Berkeley lures also ,but the reel didn't come with line.
I saw these last night and almost got one. Glad I found this. I might just go back to get one. Thanks for this.

Just bought my first baitcaster at 61. I paid $40 for the abu garcia vengeance rod and reel combo set. I prefer spincaster reels. We'll give it a shot. The 6 magnets should help with the backlash. My wife likes it alot.

I got one and my review is that the line is kinda cheap and has bad memory (but you can switch it out easily) and in my opinion the tension knob is a little wonky but besides that it’s pretty good
I picked up a Vengeance combination yesterday at Walmart for $40. I am trying to get my pre teen and teenage grandsons interested in using the bait casting reel. So, Larry, I am glad that you confirmed my choice into getting this deal. I wish that I would have more money, because on occasion, I do buy new combos for kids and get them interested in fishing. Trilene XL is on the spool. Great video too.
A little while after I bought the Infinity reel for 40 bucks at Walmart. I was in my old hometown Walmart and found also the Vengeance bait aster also for 40 bucks. I bought two of them. But ended up taking them back because ass soon as I rigged them up they both started making a terrible sound when casting them. I was pissed and thought I got another good deal. Also I noticed it was not built like the Infinity rod and reel combo. It was real cheap plastic. I did like the clicking drag it had.
Was eyeing that combo all summer but iver always been a spinning guy. Found them in the clearance isle today at Walmart for 40$ snagged one up. Just need to wait for summer now..

They do make and sell the black max combo still Larry and it's a great combo.
I heard they stopped making the black max but our walmart have 8 in right hand and 3 in left hand. And have two combos
They still make the black max its just been renamed the max x or something like that. That crank bait I think is a 55mm at least I believe that's how they mark there's which is basically just a 2.5 square bill. Dives 3 to 5 ft most likely but might be a 5 to 7 foot depending on bill size and angle.
I like the blue max combo its only 65$ online with free delivery. It's a solid cheap combo I use it for bank beating and my higher end stuff when I'm on my jon boat. Dont want higher end gear in the grass or possible mud lol

Picked up this exact combo for $37 my only complaint is it seems to backlash quite a bit it's probably due to the plastic spool... maybe putting a different spool on it would fix that issue

@@cameronpeterson5400 I was casting mine in the yard yesterday to get dialed in a bit. It started making a weird noise while casting. Had any issue with yours?
@@pernellmarshall8786 Not as far as I know but it could be the way u have it dialed in I've seen a few people on yt who have bait casters that make noise when casting so it's possible there's nothing wrong maybe try tuning it some and it may stop if not I still don't believe there's anything wrong with it, get back to me and let me know buddy
