Can you set up the camera to record video to the CFAST card and stills to the SD card? If so then you can transfer your pictures to your phone via the Apple SD to lightning adapter. If you have an iPhone of course.

I have been shooting Sony A7Sii for awhile now and overall I like it. However, my biggest beef with it is the mirrorless body. Every time I change a lens out, I have to pay special attention to the sensor to make sure no dust had made it in. I have had shots ruined because of that.
I am thinking about going back to Canon and going with the 1dx. A lot of what I shoot consists of run and gun projects capturing b-roll, and historically when I have shot with my mark iii I get frustrated from people who will see me and ‘plant and grin’ because they think I am capturing stills. I am hoping with the larger body of the 1dx some of that may be eliminated, but I would love to hear your thoughts.

Hello can you tell me which cf card and cfast card you use and or what you could recommend, for the 1dx mk2 for 4k , and also 4k 60p, and if im not recording 4k 60p, should i use cf, or should i always use cfast for 4k Music Videos, so basically can you tell me which Cf or Cfast cards not to buy, i just got new 1dx , so i need to buy cards, any body please chime in on which cfast cards.

Hey Brandon, I bought the 1Dxii myself and i'm from Scotland which is central for rain and horrible weather, how good is the weather sealing because i'm positive I saw someone submerge the camera in a sink full of water, I can't say for sure if they were saying that's how resistant it is or they were just showing off how much money they have by doing something that wreck-less! Anyway your opinion would certainly take the nerves away from me when it comes to shooting in the rain!

Great review man. The best cfast to cell phone reader for me has been the GNARBOX. Just plug a reader into the usb3 jack and you can wirelessly transfer photos AND videos. Also you can simultaneously store the on the GNARBOX or on a plugged in hard drive. I usually use a Samsung t3 ssd. Keep posting!

There are no CFast to cellphone readers but you can get a CFast to USB and USB to cellphone and then you'll be able to transfer photos

Anybody know if there is a difference from the 5d markiv? Since they both have virtually the same specs, does this beat the quality or things such as: dynamic range (especially to work on in post), night shooting, shutter roll, less crop in 4k? Thanks.
The 1dx will give you 4k at 60fps, it gives 1080 at 120fps also is better in lowlight than the 5d mk iv. Plus on the photo side it give a lot of bonuses too.
For some reason I've been doing more and more research on this model. I was originally looking to upgrade my 70d and my 5d3 to a c100 ii and use the 5d3 as a B cam but now the A7 iii is out and looks great and now I'm torn between the 1dx ii with all its available codecs vs the c100 ii and its built in ND's or the A7 iii with it's focus peeking and what it offers for it's price range. ``\..0../``
Brandon, when on your face, this video isn't sharp, your eyes aren't in focus. Why is that? Did you shoot this video on the 1DX?

Hi ! I'm about to buy a canon 1dx ii , however I'm in doubt as I heard it's not compatible on Final Cut Pro X . Do you edit your films in FCPX? If so have you ever had any problems? Thanks! Love your videos !
I use 1dxii and fcpx. works fine, but the video files are huge and take some processing power.
If you have a weak computer, just import your files along with proxy option and you will be fine in X

How does this camera compare to the 5d Mark 4 for video besides the 4k 60p? I'm struggling to justify the price.
Also I hear a 128gb cfast card will get you about 8 mins recording at 4k60 p which is terrible
Quality is about the same. As far as the cards go it’s not that bad in 4k 60fps but it is bad.
I'm currently shooting Film only however I've used digital for quite some time from Nikon to Fuji ect, however This upcoming spring I'm going to be looking at purchasing a new "serious" digital camera to shoot both video and stills. Seeing that this review is up recently and the new cameras coming out and being announced such as the D850, A9, A7riii and so forth do you still thinks this camera trumps them in most categorizes. Sure the 60fps in 4k is amazing and the nikon and sony can't do that, however the 20mpxl difference between the 1DXii and Nikon and Sony is that worth the offset of the video quality of the Canon? I really really like the looks of the A7riii for it's performance and size and don't really see myself maybe ever really needing 42 megapixels for much. Also the size and weight of the Canon I don't really care about too too much because with a batery grip on the Sony and a decent lens it's not to different in my mind.
I just want to make the best decision and considering the Canon 1DX ii is already going to be 2 years old I want something that I can shoot with for at least another 7-8 years and still be excited to have it and that it will give me great results. Thanks!

Best 4k dslr in the market. Just such a shame only 20MP stills. For those who need both stills and video the new dilemma is the need for both the 1DX MKII for video & the D850 for stills at 46MP with the prospect of two completely different systems and all the hassles that come with it. We so need a 1DX MKIII !
From my understanding the more megapixels you put in a camera the poorer it performs in lowlight. This is why they keep it at only 20MP. I guess its a trade off but i'll say megapixels have never been important to me when it come to still as long as its over 16mp,

Yes you're absolutely correct. It's basically a trade off! For those who want video Canon's DP AF is the supreme champ! The 5dsr isn't great in low light and the Nikon is stunning for stills with better DR but terrible problems with 4k focus tracking. For those who want the image quality of the 850 with stunning video capabilities a dual system remains the only practical but extremely expensive option.
Brandon Washington your statement about megapixels also depends on the technology of a given camera. But yea the 1dx2 is magnificent. 20 mp is not enough when you’re use to using 40+ mp cameras. That’s my only gripe with this camera other than the pricey cfast cards. The video files are so rich with that high bit rate though.
And 3 monthes later now you have the a7r3 42+mpx better in almost every parts and u can use your canon lenses
Well. Most parts. Except all the video features, autofocus, battery, personally also colours and build quality. Most pro filmmakers still use the 1DX MkII for smaller projects and the C200-C300 for commercials. There has to be a reason for that.
Is it better than 5d mark iv image quality ?
For video yes I see a difference also it has 4k at 60fps the 5d doesn't have that or else i would have bought that for sure.

Sry my friend I have the camera and use it all the time and it does crop. It’s not as bad as the 4k but there is a crop at 120 FPS.
1D series is built for tank, to do anything in the world
So,
you don't expect 1D to have built in wifi or gps or anything that can transmit
1D were designed to enter anything, so when they go to warzone or political entry where transmitting data is not allowed, that's where these camera do the job done
I've used 1D mark IV and know that 1D series is a perfect camera, it will go anywhere you want

Actually the crop isnt that huge, but mainly MJPEG has its advantages. I mean what camera uses 800mbps ?! For me, thats amazing. Most pro video cameras have high bitrates.
Tom The crop was definitely not cool, but you’re right, it’s not a deal breaker.. But that MJPEG is. File sizes are huge for no reason. It does have high bitrate, but it’s an outdated codec. They can achieve high or even higher bitrate with better codecs, which would also result in smaller file sizes with matching or exceeding quality.
Ryan Anthony well the bitrate is what decides the file size. 800mbps = 100 mb/s = 1gb/10 sec
But I agree adding a second codec for 4k would be benefitial.
Tom Yes, bitrate = data rate but I’m just saying there are more efficient codecs out there. Not to mention, just because MJPEG has bigger file sizes doesn’t mean it will necessarily have better image quality. There’s a lot of other factors that go into that. But glad we could agree. It’s a shame too, cuz I really wanted to like and even buy the mk4 & 1DX.

it is not the best videographers camera.. i mean for that price.. you'd much much much more efficient with the canon c200...
but having used that camera... it is a beast.. but not worth that price tag... im my opinion..
