Nice video! Definitely pros and cons to these cameras, as you illustrated. I own both and use them professionally. The 1DXII is amazing and I really love shooting with this camera for photo AND video, whereas the 5DMIV is mostly just for photos since and the 120fps at 720p is terrible and can't focus in that mode. I tired a Sony A7III because the specs and price was great, but I really did not enjoy using this camera. Also, I was always fighting the footage in post so I went back to canon and never looked back, but that's just me and my experience is subjective. I'm not sure why so many SONY people hate CANON (reading the comments here). It's like a religion and they want you to join. If Sony is your holy grail and gives you the results you are after that's totally cool, but why all the pontificating?
I would save money for a 1DX2 but with Canon getting serious about the mirrorless race I will wait. I do own the 5D4 and it is awesome.
The electronic view finder has its advantages.
Yes it does and one is seeing the exposure ahead of taking the picture. Also the amount of focus points that it can handle. Having Canon's dual pixel focus technology with 95% sensor coverage would be awesome. Color science big plus. If they can only release with 1080 120fps, 4k 60fps and possibly some good eye focus I would be so happy. I can skip the IBIS if getting those other features. I trust Canon and have several cameras from the T3i, 6D, 7D2 and now the 5D4 and they all have performed superbly for what they are made for.

My gosh! Why cant anyone just do a simple side to side comparison of the 1dxii and another canon dslr???! Out of this useless 15 minute review we get two night shot comparisons side by side which don't show enough of a difference of dynamic range or color to see the difference. People automatically assume theres no difference in color from each generation of cameras released, but companies change colors all the time in a very sly way.

5d4 is a great camera, but its not in the league of he 1dx MII. That is, of course a better camera. Why else would the price be almost twice as high? Besides beeing much more sturdy and suitet for hard daily work, the 1dx MII contains two processors and has better color- and contrast-performance. I own 2 of them and use them for both press and commercial work. They never fail.

Depends on the situation, the 5d iv has more mp and better dynamic range oh and btw. the 5div also has two processors.
You would think that since they are both full frame sensors that they would perform the same in low light, but I think the lower pixel count on the 1DXii helps with the low light as well as the fact that it has dual digic 6+ processors while the 5D4 has only one.

Quiero también señalar que la comparativa, no sólo me ha resultado muy interesante sino que la considero muy pertinente.
En un comentario anterior se insiste en un lugar común: la cámara Canon 1Dx MarkII es una cámara para deportes o para naturaleza. En consecuencia, no deberíamos compararla con la 5D Mark IV. No estoy de acuerdo con esta forma de ver las cosas.
Todos sabemos que es la más especializada para fotografía deportiva o de naturaleza. Pero también es una excelente cámara para retratos, paisajes, periodismo, reportaje...
Por lo tanto, creo muy pertinente y valioso tu aporte y punto de vista. La comparativa es perfectamente legítima.

The illumination button is ideally placed as you only use when the camera isn't up to your eye, this leaves the buttons you would use when it's up to your eye ideally placed.

This is not a fair comparison. The 5DIV is an amazing allround camera, where the 1DxII is best suited for sports and wildlife
I have 5DIII and a 1DIV and I only use the 5DIII nowadays
i'm disagree whith you. The 1Dx isn't only a sport camera. Is also an all around camera.
1DX2 is great for video as well. Great 1080 at 120fps
Jai Sibal Sony video falls apart when pushed. 1DX2 video is superior in quality.

Palms in Germany!!!! I didn't know they can survive the harsh winter. I lived in Germany from 1988 thru 1992. It is a beautiful country, loved it.
Interesting to see my last name (Horn) on USAF BDUs. I retired from the Air Force after 6 years enlisted and the rest as a pilot (F-16/KC-10). And now I'm a professional photographer. I spent a couple days in Frankfurt where this was filmed once while flying the KC-10. Now I am planning to replace my current cameras with both of what are being reviewed here. Strange set of coincidences...

If you want 50 megapixels get a 5DSR. If you want a flip screen get a 6D mark 2. If you want a great all-round camera with wifi, gps and 30 megapixels get a 5D mk4. If you have loads of money, want the best you can get and need 4k and super slow mo... Or just want to say hey look at me I'm rich, get the 1Dx mk2. Or just get them all. You are only going to one day say pfft this thing is worse on low light than my old 6D so get one of those as well?
Please do a autofocus test on the 5d mk4 in video. One with Face Detection and one without. Want to see how it tracks with f1.8 or f2.8

Just to correct you, on 14" you said that 5dmk4 battery is 3x more expensive than 1dxmk2, it's otherwise, as you mentioned few minutes before on video..
26mpix, 4k60, normal codec and i am sold on the 1dx3.
We can only hope for an update. Should come 2020.
If money is no object, I would definitely get the 1Dx II hands down. It's fast and durable. However, that's not the main reason I prefer the 1Dx II. It's all about value and performance. Most current Canon lenses are designed with a 20ish MP sensor in mind. Thus, the 1DX II plus Canon lenses = optimal performance, which means most current Canon glasses can maximize the 20 MP sensor per DXO sharpness results. On the other hands, the 5D IV's sensor is very average in terms of low noise and resolution when compared the 5Dsr and other competitors. Thus, 5D IV + Canon glasses = average performance. If resolution is important, the 5Dsr is a much better choice because it can squeeze every last drops of performance juice out of all the Canon glasses.

would you say you'd get sharper images out of the 1d? I use the 5d to shoot wildlife for having that extra crop room and blowing images up. however i really want the 1d for its video.

Most pros don't need a 1D and would possibly never use many of its features. It depends on what you shoot. Buy it only if you really need it and spend your money on good glass.
Larry C Jones most pros uses it , but popularity of GH5 makes it the more ideal for videos so pros starting to buy cheaper alternative.
"If you're not a pro...why you need professional..." I disagree. This statement is the same as saying unless you are a professional driver, why would you buy a Ferrari or Lamborghini... It's all about the experience in life for most people. There are people who own private jets when they are not professional pilots working for commercial airlines...

Most non pros probably wont need it, its bulky big and heavy, and for most people it is expensive otherwise everyone probably own one. Think again before disagreeing. And people mostly buys Ferrari for show off

Everytime I handle a Sony it falls thru my fingers. It is a toy of a camera not suited for serious photography and video.
Sony doesn’t make any camera that’s shoots 4K60fps and 1dx 120fps is a lot better than Sony . Sony has a crop in 120fps and low bit rate. Please stop all these fanboy crap, both cameras will get the job done. The 1dx will just survive a nuclear bomb 😂🤣😂

I shoot some weddikgs and portraits as a side job but mostly portraits for its fun with my 5d3s, sure would love to have a r5 but i need to buy new lenses mew screen etc so i Will upgrade one of them soon to a used 1dx2 or 5d4 and this did help

1dxii has faster af. IQ is a little sharper, more neutral and has richer colors. Low light is much better in 1dxii. 5d4’s hfr doesnt have autofocus.

For studio I use 5d4 and sold 1dxm2 because the 5dm4 is very capable and I don’t need 4k video

Both have 4k. 1dx at 60fps and 5d4 at 30fps and 24fps
I have the 5D4 but man, the 1DX2 seen to have better IQ in some situations. But yes for studio work, the 5D4 is more than capable.

It depends what you're using the camera for. I do a lot of editorial work and work in low-light conditions. I have the 1Dx Mark III and it's the perfect tool for the job. It's exceptional in low-light and the fps is fast enough for me. I was in the market for a secondary camera because constantly switching lens was a pain and time consuming. I bought the 1Dx Mark II for my secondary. There's nothing wrong with the 5D MK IV, but for my needs, the Mark II was the better secondary camera.
I own the R3 nowadays and the R5 - great cameras.
I'd say if you're only going for 1080p and full frame sensor with Flip screen, get the 6D Mark II. Btw, great comparison!

Looked for something interesting on this TH-cam channel, and discovered that it was a bit stuck in the past, and therefore deserved a small remark, although I'm aware there are still photographers stuck in the past. However, this is ok, and there are also few photographers still shooting film so there will also be a few who shoot with a DSLR camera in the future, but using a review on it may not be the right thing to do?
