Over in UK the tax rebate has finished so it has gone back to almost the same retail price when it was introduced. But personally as a Canon shooter I would say this is still the best camera to get for all around Photo/Video use.

Been using 1DC and 1DX2 since they went on sale. For normal event, color are acceptable out of the box on standard with out color grading. If you need color grading get the Jame Miller or Techicolor or Marvel profile. Even after buying an A9, 1DX2 still remain as my main camera choice for Run-&-Gun
yea man i love the colors right out of camera too. Im currently testing out the sony a7riii. I do see my self picking one up for travel because they are so small but for paid jobs or events that really matter i will probably stick to using the 1DX.

Nice job man! Even though I'm shooting on my a7r iii I still would like to own a canon again and that being said its gotta the be the best. The 1dxii is for sure the one I will get, I've tried the 5dmkiv and returned it within a couple of days to get my a7r iii. Only thing holding me back is the price of the 1dx, but if it is dropping then I might go for it. BTW audio game on point man! great job.
I still plan on buying one used maybe by even next year. I got back into the DSLR world after taking a break from shooting for a while and picked up a super nice 5D3 used with about 10k shutter clicks. I plan to build my lens line up and probably in the next year I would still consider getting a used 1Dxii with low miles just to stay with canon lens sets up. I've shot a few other cameras and I just prefer how the photos and video look when I edit them.
I have 1dx mark ii and love it. The only camera that maybe can change the game for me, is if Canon make an incredible mirror less with even better specs..

Considering a 1Dx ii to compliment my 5D iv. I just love the Canon color science and the ecosystem works well with my style of shooting. (Very run and gun) I had a A7S ii and although the low light and overall quality of the footage was amazing, it just didn’t fit my style of shooting.

I am thinking seriously right now to get one. Here in Shanghai the 1DX Mark II cost about 3300 Euro and together with the 70-200mm 2.8L IS II USM about 4550 Euro. Still a hell of money but way cheaper then in Europe.
i love the size of canon 1DX it gives me the feel of a professional camera. I don't run with crowd and i am CANON. Good work my man

Another great video man! Question: Would you say the still image quality on the 1dx2 is better than the 5d4!? I've often wondered this because of the 20mp vs 30mp. I know with the 1dx2 there are bigger pixels and I know Mega Pixels aren't EVERYTHING but is there a noticable difference?

I've been shooting Canon for more than 30 years, my first Canon body was the AE-1 --yes, I grew up shooting film, on Canon. I am a wedding and portrait photog, shooting Canon, but have kept an eye on mirrorless technology; I have owned the Sony all the Sony 6xxx series, but have kept the 6500 --which is an amazing compact camera, in fact, I am certain I could shoot an entire wedding and deliver "pro results" with that little aps-c body, cept that I don't think my clients would take me seriously if I tried. I currently do my work with a Canon 5DM4, which honestly, delivers excellent results, in terms of IQ and low light performance, can't complain in that regard. That being said, I kept an eye on how the Sony A7xx series has matured over the past +5 years, versus the complete lack of innovation on part of Canon. The mirrorless tech that Sony has introduced to the market at this point, far outstrips anything Canon has right now --at best, they will be introducing "something" early 2019, if we are "lucky." Nikon, which is 1/3 the size of Canon, saw the the writing on the wall --that plus their devaluation late last year lit a fire under their butts which forced them to produce the stellar D-850, which is quite possibly the "best DSLR ever made." Nikon gets it, they are litterally "fighting for their... lunch" which Sony is gobbling up. Canon on the other hand, stubbornly refuses to give their consumers what they want, fearing that they will "canabolize" their Cinema line. But it's not just (real) 4k that people want, it's IBIS, back lit sensor, faster shutters, true "silent shutters" real time "live view," etc., etc., --all of which Sony has delivered. And with the announcement the A7III, I have decided it's time to leave Canon, and partner up with a company that actually listens to it's consumers. Oh, and one more thing, clinging on to the mantra of "Canon superior color science" SOOC is just one more way "we" Canon suckers try to validate spending thousands of dollars on tech from 5 years ago.

I'm in the situation that i finally have the opportunity to upgrade to full frame; i have plenty of canon lenses; i love canon and the ability to tap to focus on the screen; i was thinking about the 5d iv as an upgrade; lately i was leaning towards the a7 iii cause looking on the opinion and samples is a more capable camera, with 120fps at 1080p, IBIS, 4k, wich I don't mind of, because i would shoot mainly in 1080 60fps, but it is a further option, and it seems to have better dynamic range and image quality; sony lenses are quite expensive so a change would hurt my wallet, but i would do if that would be a better choice; body price is about the same speaking about a 5d iv used and an a7 iii new. What would you do/say?
Giordano Pioli I just finished selling my entire Canon kit (except for my 24-70 I want to use adapted) last Monday. My Sony A7iii arrived on Wednesday. First thing that struck me was how small it was compared to the average “massive” body of my 5D bodies (sold my Mark iii & IV). But I’m ok with it given how much i enjoy shooting with my a6500. That being said, my new a7Riii, two lenses, and battery grip arrive on Tuesday, just in time for a portrait session I had planned for the following weekend. I plan on trying out the a7iii with my one remaining Canon lens tomorrow Saturday.

Do you think canon is going to release anything soon that would cause this camera to come down in price more? I was torn between this and the c200 cinema camera. I like the smaller size compared to the cinema camera and I think this has image stabilization which I don't think the c200 has. Also, there are a lot more of these used than the c200 and you don't save that much on the c200 used vs new. I like that the c200 has the touch screen display that you can point at yourself for youtube videos, but with the cheaper price of the 1 DX I could prob add on a atomos.

Brandon, I shoot mostly video. I'm trying to decide between buying the Canon c200 or the IDX-MKII. I'm primarily buying either camera for the high speed options. Which camera do you think would be better to buy? Is the C200's high speed (120 fps) is as good as the IDX MKII's?
I'll always love Canon. They're simple to use, their color is amazing period, but I wouldn't say "quality" video for $6000 with an 8bit codec, low dynamic range and no log profiles. Its a great hybrid camera, it really is, it's just so drastically overpriced.
10 bit is the new standard.. 1DX MKii films in 8 bit.. For film makers 10 bit is the way forward.. It's an absolutely fantastic stills camera..

Got mine used for 4,5k.wouldnt say it’s a steal but a better price. Atleast canon usa would still service it tho it is considered as black market unit, unlike sony/tamron that will refuse to service black market units. Been with it for 6 months, used it in all my paid videography events and loving it! The image quality , skin tones, color science, smooth 120fps can’t be beat. I bought 2 more cheaper canon bodies for extra angles. Now i feel like im regretting my sony investment
stuck between this and the c100 ii I have a 5d3, 70d, and 7d at the moment I do both film and photography so not sure if i should keep the 5d3 for photos and use a c100 ii for film or get one of these?

Trying to delay the big camera upgrade, but looking to upgrade my DSLR for my DJ Ronin S. Compared to the 5D Mark IV Canon Log, is the 120 FPS worth an extra 2k? How do the two images compare at 4k 24 FPS?
I would say the 1dx still looks a bit better but canon is suppose to announce their mirrorless camera very soon. Possibly tomorrow!

That’s awesome I’m glad it’s sounds better. I’ll be working on a video very soon going over how i fixed it. But basically it’s a zoom recorder.
People have GAS when you are trying to make money when your gear is making you money you don't change until the market requires. I shoot HD everyone wants 4K then I have to upgrade. But upgrading just to upgrade is wasting money especially when switching systems is really losing.

I think the biggest problem is canon refuses to give us c-log ! On a 5500-6000 camera but turn around give it to the mark 4 is bullshit.

The camera was build. For media photographers sports not bloging its a superv camera i only used it for sport photography not bloging it's a $6k body . why you need such a big camera for blogd with no tilt screen.......
If people are worried about the return value, they should be doing better business to pay for such a camera in the first place or not purchase at all. If I can’t forecast making my return of a camera in 36 months, then it won’t be purchased.

If the biggest concern is for loss of investment, you need to buy CD’s and forget about depreciating minor assets. Focus on this camera’s functionality now.
Here in Finland there is allmost none of secondhand 1dx2 cameras! There was one and it was 4600euro`s (75.000shots). We have super active secondhand market, many professionals buy new often and sell old away... Allso these best quality items are great in use´d allso! I will NOT sell mine ;)

hi, I came from Malaysia freelance cameraman, I really looking for an upgrade from my current camera which is a7s(mark i)..I really looking forward to go back canon, the reason are : client budget always not really high for me to do extra colorgrading for them(I felt uncomfortable with the price vs the amount of time spend on work), 2nd since the budget from client are usually average but still want some best quality out there...Im considering C200 at 1st..but it will make me to charge my client more...Im looking for a balance between my best offer equipment for my client and still help me client to produce good video quality....I need some suggestion from people~thank you very much, love and peace
The c200 is a great camera but if thats to high the 5d is a great camera as well and about half the price you just sacrifice about half the features too.

Lexar Cfast 2.0 doesn't have any problems. The sandisk ones need to be format/refreshed to keep functioning properly. Lexar isn't making cards anymore though, so you have to find one somewhere online.

Sorry the only things I can see it offers over the A73 is build quality and maybe rear screen quality or EVF/OVF quality but even the 2 latter is debatable. (PS I'm a Nikon shooter so no I'm not a Sony fan)

Joel Galindo I had a 1DC and 5D IV. Love it! Miss C-Log, but other than that it’s absolutely brilliant. The 1080p is pretty rubbish sadly, worse than the cameras before. I use an external recorder a lot (Blackmagic 5” Video Assist) to get GREAT 1080p out of the camera in a better codec and to cheaper media. Plus you get the better display. I was very happy with the deal, I’d not seen them nearly that well priced before - maybe I just had good timing, it wasn’t something I had been looking for.
Joel Galindo also main reasons for ‘upgrading’ were the huge improvements in rolling shutter and flexibility in frame rates.

I personally don't see a need for such camera 📷 I think that Canon just, like any other good product company, trying to cover all aspects if the market (in this case Im talking about individual desiers, rather then a product itself) It's 2018. Currently you can't go wrong even with a mobile 📱 footage, even in pro/commercial markets, when you have a Raw/4K options. Not to mentioning a low budget miroles cameras, or advance editing tool, which can make a job for you, if you only know what you doing. Let me explain you on in easy physics. To get from the point 🇦 to point 🇧 you can either drive a 5l GMC 🚙 (yank style) or you can drive a 1,2l Fiat 500 🚗 (a more European convent 😀) The same situation is with the camera 🎥 industry, and how it works at the moment. 10 year's ago the situation was completely different. Shift in technology changed the market drastically. In My view, there is no need to run on the job with such a beast equipment, but I will not forbid anyone to drive a Hummer or GMC, if the have such personal desire (maybe apart from rising a road tax, and other fees for environmental damage 😀)

I wouldn't. I mean naturally it depends on the user's needs but if I were starting out completely new, Sony offers so much more value for so much less money. And with all the talk from Canon that they're finally going to take mirrorless seriously even if it cannabalizes sales of their other products, it would be wise to wait if you really want a Canon or look elsewhere to Sony or Panasonic. One must also consider the A7S III isn't out yet either.
Tyrone Thomas I agree. The 1DXmkii looks amazing but I’d wait to see what the A7S3 offers. As it stands, the A73 is amazing. Canon doesn’t offer IBIS which imo is valuable.
Christian Young I agree about the colors. My problem with Canon is that when you buy into it, you invest into the Canon system and you will be held hostage by their slowness. I’m not at all confident that Canon will innovate where they could since they seem to intentionally cripple their lower tier cameras. I know that when I’m ready for another Sony, a worthy upgrade will exist. I find it curious that one has to spend nearly 6k to get a great hybrid tool from Canon. S-Log is optional and there are other picture profiles that support high dynamic range capture.
Color is a consideration but it's not everything. And for what it's worth the latest crop of sony cameras are improving in that department among other things. And that seems to be the difference between them at this point. Sony seems to be actually fixing its issues whereas Canon seems content to stand still and don't seem them changing that mindset even if they start releasing more mirrorless cameras. The 1DX is a great hybrid camera but a super costly one as was said above. The money saved by going elsewhere can be used to buy so many other things.
The problem is, that the a7siii will not be as good for photos as the 1dx. 12 megapixels? Nah
Your considerations are completely warranted when doing high-commercial work but for web or even documentary style work the cost of the camera alone and storing footage may be too high for some people which is what makes the other options out there so compelling. Either way all this means is more competition which will push these manufacturers to continue innovating which means more options for us.

Great video I've been a canon shooter for 15 years and lately I've been frustrated with canon. But I'm going over to Sony I bought Sony A6500 and that is some camera. That A7lll is going to be a jammed up camera and it blows my 5DlV with clog out of the water. Canon is no longer a viable option Sony is listening.
I jumped from Canon to Sony (for my backup/video camera work) as my main workhorse was a Hasselblad, and within 2ish months I sold the Sony and went back to the 5Dmkiii with 24-70 2.8 ii as it was so much more versatile (with the addition of Magic Lantern) and gave me more than the Sony ever could, even in a body that's years old!
