    Excellent video.. One thing about not using anti-seize.. it's the difference in metals that causes the plug to seize in the head over time, not water. Had to pull many a air-cooled VW motor due to this. So use anti-seize, you'll thank yourself next time you change them. Also, after breaking the drivers side plugs loose, remove the extension and socket use a short piece of fuel line (usually 3/8") over the plug to grip it to help removal. Also, use the same hose to install the plug initially til it won't turn, then use the socket. This greatly reduces the chance of cross threading plug when installing it in the head, and helps center it in the hole easier.

    Best fb25 spark plug replacement video....

    Nice video. I see you removed the ground from the battery first, which is good. If you are removing the positive terminal first and your wrench touches ground with the negative terminal still connected, you will do some arc welding with your tool.

    Thank you so much for your tutorial. You saved me a lot of money. It was pretty tight quarters and had to use an inch and a half and a 3 inch extension interchangeably to get the two rear spark plugs out. I think a lower profile socket wrench would've been much better to use.

    Just ordered plugs from Rock Auto for our 2019 Forester. Has 103,000 miles so a bit overdue!

      Just a bit 😏 Any hesitation issues with this mileage and original plugs?

      @TDRAuto Nothing. Smooth as ever. We bought it new in November 2018. The only issue is the wobbly volume knob on the head unit. But no big deal, there are volume controls on the steering wheel. I religiously change engine oil and filter every 5000 miles. Now, I'm wondering whether I should service the CVT?

    My Forester started bucking on take off at about 44K miles. Replaced original plugs, no more bucking. the car ran fine except for the quick bucking on take off. Dealer said replace trans $6500. Wow. Changing plugs is way cheaper.

    2011-2012 subaru forester does not have “spark plug wire” ?

    I didn't remove the fixed piece of the air filter, Removing the removable cover was way easy and opened up everything on mine. 2014 premier CA 2.5 boxer. Did remove battery. Did not remove the pesky connector on the coils. They just flop out of the way. Used universal at end of deep 14mm socket, then short extension. Easy pachezzi. First time through took 45 minutes on passenger side and 30 min on Drivers side. I bet a dealer does the whole thing in 45 min. Should cost at $150 per hour is $70 for parts and $100 for labor. Should cost $170 out the door with a 50% profit margin. What did they quote you?

    Dielectric grease does not conduct electricity...

  • @krgetler
    @krgetler 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi, good video. Not sure on that dielectric grease on the spark plug/coil connection. Di means not. Dielectric is an insulator. While it may delay corrosion, it may also reduce effective electrical contact. If someone has a technical reference or some recommendation from an automaker or spark plug manufacturer I am all ears. Thanks again for the video. I sure did not want to jack the engine up!

      Well I've been using dielectric grease for over 20 years without any issues. Chrysler recommends using it for their engines in the service manuals as well.

    My local Subaru dealer quoted me over 250 dollars to change my 4 spark plugs out.... Good deal huh?
    I was like, what kind of CRACK are you smoking... cause I want some too...

      My dealer wanted to change my plugs out at 60 months. at the cost of $545.00 to maintain my warranty that was set to expire anyway. The car has 28,000 mi on it and is 7 yrs old. Runs like the day I drove it off the lot when new. I chose to void out the last 6 months on my warranty. Extended warranties are nothing more than a money making machine for the manufacturer and dealers for the most part.

    Would a bad spark plug tube seal and a valve cover cause a all cylinder misfire?

    • @TDRAuto
      @TDRAuto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It could cause cylinder misfire by contaminating and soaking the coil boot and the electrical connection. But I don't think it would cause all cylinder misfire at the same time, unless it got so bad and all coil boots are soaked in oil.

      @@TDRAuto Thanks for the video. Please let us know if you do one for the valve cover and spark plug gaskets.

    Did you use the dealer NGK plugs SKU: 22401AA940 NGK: DILKAR7Q8 for 2019 Forester Sport? or the one that rock auto sells NGK: DILKAR7Q8 or hardly anyone else.
    Can anyone confirm the B8 variety fits and functions properly?

      I bought the NGK Laser Iridium plugs for my 2015 Forester from my local parts store, same PN as the ones in the description.
