Big shout out to @IAmAsar for pointing out SoftSpace (not mentioned in the video) I’ll do that one next! I chose not to show the 'Immersive' App Because I had a TERRIBLE experience setting it up and it was quite laggy once I did get it going. Also the Remote Desktop (BETA) from Meta only streams your screen and doesn't passthrough your mouse and keyboard. I wouldn't bother with that one right now either. Have you tried to actually do work in the Quest3 or Apple Vision Pro? How did it go?
I’m trying but I’m not having luck. My computer is on a vpn and I can’t connect the quest to the vpn. So I need to connect the quest to the computer by usb cable. Then, I need to see the keyboard and mouse… so yeah. Could use some pointers if you have some.
@@TechdoLiberal I hadn’t considered the VPN layer being a problem. But can you hardwire to your iSP for your VPN and simply use virtual desktop on WiFi? I’m using a dedicated router on the PC to connect to the quest so the PCs internet source “shouldn’t” matter. It would work with no internet . I’m literally filming my set up when I get home from work. Try that. But I’ll include it in the next video I hope to publish it by Friday at the latest. Best of luck !
No way, it’s an enterprise vpn and the quest does not connect to it. It’s the major downside of the quest compared to the Vision Pro unfortunately, the wired connection really makes a difference.
@@TechdoLiberal oh for an enterprise VPN I can see that being a problem. But I’m curious how it actually conflicts because controlling the pC via virtual desktop with a quest doesn’t require any internet connection just a router to do it over. So I assumed you can do them separately. But if you’re doing corporate work the AVP is probably more secure anyway. I feel Ike I could get that set up to work but there’s probably diminishing returns at some point. Sorry dude. I’ll test out some things and let u know
Not at all, when you’re on a vpn your device is effectively on a different network. I can’t even see the quest. TBH steam link and the oculus app work through cable, but neither have passthrough to work with on a keyboard and mouse, as far as I know. If find anything please share:)
I think it’s a good explanation video. My problem is that I assume everyone already knows all of this but as I talk to people they seem surprised that the quest can do anything besides ps2 quality VR games so videos like this are good to get information out there.
Absolutely! And all for the games graphic quality if you have a recent enough PC the connectivity to game with “current gen” graphics is there… adding to even more value. Thanks for watching!
💯💯💯Your channel is the best one about VR. And you talk like a real person, not a character for TH-cam, so nice thanks for that. Nice experience about Astra, anxious to try it💯💯💯
Coming to VR in my 40s. Love this video. The AVP demo is what opened my eyes to what's now possible. Did some research and bought the Quest 3. Love it so far! Thanks for making this video and keeping it 100% fluff-free!
Yo! I’m in this marvelous decade with you. I think us older peeps appreciate it more because we remember what a floor model black and white TV looked like. 😄 what a time to be alive. Welcome to the construct!
Your Chanel is sooo good! Ur already growing fast and I hope you continue to! Crazy that you’re not even at 1k yet cuz the quality of your videos are great!
Great video, thank you! I use immersed almost daily for work, but totally acknowledge its clunkiness getting going. You have to be really close to a really new router to get the best experience, or sink enough time into it (3 days out of a rolling 7 day window) to unlock USB connection for low latency. If it wasn't already part of my routine I'd probably just use horizon workrooms.
Yeah I have a triband router but I didn’t use it during set up. Everything was so clunky I just bailed. I’ll give it another shot before I uninstall. I’m going to do a deep dive on workrooms on the channel soon! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the excellent video dude! Very concise and atleast as well done as other similar channels. I need to show this to a couple folks who bought vision pros and regret it (NO good games, no controllers, a huge external battery brick? WTF!). You got my subscribe and am sending it the way of a couple streamers I know. You will be at a mil subs before you know it, keep it up.
Yeah man the AVP is GREAT for showing us what the future holds don’t get me wrong. But it’s for early adopters and enthusiasts of the tech. Not great for value per dollar in my opinion. Thanks for the kind words and the support! Welcome to the construct 👊🏽
After being very impressed by the Apple Store demo of Vision Pro, I purchased a Quest 3 and am enjoying the gaming and watching NBA games (even if the resolution doesn’t look high def.). While you make it look easy, the UI interface of Q3 is no where near as smooth as AVP. Also, typeface resolution is much sharper with AVP. In a few years we’ll see how the quality and pricing measures up between the 2 systems.
The AVP is a clearly higher quality. I was impressed as well but I wasn’t blown away. I would pay $1500 for the AVP maybe even $2000. That price point suggests that you can’t get these experiences anywhere else and that’s just not true. Apple did a great job this first iteration I hope in a few years we’re talking about different generations of both of these devices. Thanks for watching!!
100% agree. There are so many videos out at the moment trying to show how good the quest 3 is. How you can do just as much for a fraction of the price. In reality, the Quest 3 kinda sucks for most things bar gaming. The UI is dated and clunky, pass through is terrible, the resolution, especially when doing virtual desktops is junk. It’s just not a pleasant experience at all. The VP costs so much more, but it is indeed so much better (apart from gaming).
@@TheConstruct_VR but you can’t get these experiences anywhere else today. No other device on the market supports a 4k resolution with seamless interface and the power to run multiple apps at once. What you presented is a 8-bit version of what apple is doing. It’s very clunky and lower res. Don’t lie to your viewers. The experience is not the same.
@@ralexand56 Lying is pushing it a bit far. I’m showing not lying. Perhaps I should have said functions instead of experiences. I’ll do a video on it because we’ll be all day in these comments. The points I’m making here are along lines of, “hey I know you want a Lamborghini but Hondas are nice too” It’s not dishonest to show that a cheaper less powerful thing exists with similar (but not all) features $3500 is a lot of money for most people. People need to be aware that these functions aren’t locked behind such a high paywall.
@@TheConstruct_VR I'm sorry. Lying was too strong a word. I just don't want people to get the sense that you're going to have the same experience on the quest as the vp. Obviously whether someone can afford something is a personal thing. I'm not rich by any stretch but I'm willing to pay a price premium for something that delivers on quality
Excellent video! Thanks so much for sharing your insights. In addition to Fluid, and Virtual Desktop, there’s also Immersed, as well as Horizon Workrooms. The future is definitely bright & promising for VR, no matter which headset you prefer!
I need to give it another shot. I was using it on my less than optimal network so my experience was horrible. That’s why I skipped it in this one. I’ll revisit it
What head strap is that? been looking for one like that with more support and a removable battery (magnetic I assume) on the back. I've seen lots for Quest 2 but I haven't seen anything like that for the quest 3. Can you drop a link?
Hi! great video, i wonder will you consider to use this as daily driver for work, especially coding, how long you can wear it without issue to your comfort?
Thanks for watching! With a Proper 3rd party headset it can get super comfortable. Headset and/or facial interface and you can get a solid hour or 2 without it being a problem. Taking breaks helps you’re not winning any awards for keeping it on endlessly. I have used it to edit videos when my wife was using the office and I needed to use the PC in there… pretty neat. Comfort will vary from person to person for sure!
I love the inadvertent jive at Apple with the VPro not having controllers and how on the Quest 3, they make controlling the virtual space more accurate. LoL
🙃 Just having a little fun. It's like the headphone jack all over again. Maybe one day I'll look back at this and laugh at myself when we're no longer using controllers . Thanks for watching mate.
Excellent review. Very helpful. Is your pass through video quality really that good? I bought the quest 3 last week and I find the pass through camera and video viewing quality very underwhelming even then I change the settings in Sidequest. Unfortunately, I don’t have PC and trying to get quest 3 to work with MacBook Pro is very challenging. Thoughts?
Thanks for watching! The pass through quality is much better than it was prior to v64. I would think you have that update at this point. This video was v62 or earlier. Here’s the deal… the pass though is noisy and a bit blurry. But in recordings you can’t see it as much because the videos frame rate matches TH-cam and your eyes aren’t an inch away from the screen. So recordings always look better than inside the headset. It’s not great but most of the time it’s in your periphery anyway, so it doesn’t bug me as much. Check out the latest video on the channel about Fluid! No Mac or Pc required and it’s free in App Lab
Hey, I really like your videos! I’m now considering getting a headset. Two questions: (1) how long can you wear these before you feel sick/ head feels tired? (2) I travel a lot. Can I get external monitors set up easily and effectively on a plane/ train? Is the quality good enough to program on the go?
Thanks for watching John! 1: you don’t really get motion sickness because you’re sitting still. Motion sickness in VR really comes from movement your eyes see but body can’t feel. As for headaches you MUST get an after market head strap like the Kiwi design one I recently reviewed here or the bobo vr m3 ( this is not a sponsored response in any way lol) With the right head strap it’s comfortable enough for a few hours. But honestly it comes down to eye strain and that varies from user to user. Full immersion is a bit easier on the eyes than mixed on the quest in my opinion. The quality is good enough to see text clearly. I wouldn’t trust colors if you’re doing design work. As for travel most of these apps pair with a laptop on a local network so on a plane or train that may be difficult without a private LAN to connect to. (Check out the Immersed video) There are standalone apps (I mention Fluid in this video) that don’t require a connection to a Pc or Mac but then you won’t have your favorite editor to code in as they are purely browser based, but you can get some light work and heavy entertainment set up with virtually no effort. I’m doing a deep dive of Fluid later next week (Wednesday ish I hope) I had a chance to talk with the developer so stay tuned for that. Their focus is being a fast solution without the need of a connected machine. Hope this helps, Cheers!
Hey, nice video ! Fluid seems to have the best overall interface but is only limited on browser support. Did you find any way to have access to your pc from fluid (as "natively" as you can access it from virtual desktop). Or the other way round : a way to use Virtual Desktop to have multiple screens that you can move around as in Fluid ? Thank you and keep up with your cool content !
Thanks for watching! No fluid seems to be only browser based. I’m literally recording a few videos. You may want to give Immersed a try. I didn’t have my network set up just right so I wrote it off. I’m man enough to admit that I may have been wrong lol. Immersed has some set up you’ll have to do on your mirrored laptop/desktop but multiple windows can be used and disconnected from the grid. I feel bad I skipped it I now hahah I may go back and do a tutorial on it. 😁
Done thanks! I did that at first and it didn’t work so I removed the 00:00 thinking it would help. Added them back and now bam! You’re the MVP today my friend
Well you’re streaming your PC or Mac so it’s just a web browser instance of Netflix. It’s much better than the app that’s currently available. virtual desktop has a lot of tweaks so I’m sure you can get it to look as good as 4k. I’m organizing a video on it as we speak I’ll include all my setups. Honestly if I can’t see any pixels I’m happy
Great video, man. I'll be testing out this tomorrow, and I'm wondering if it can be my new preferred way of moving around and working in other rooms. Ima have to setup my 3rd PC for maybe some specific virtual link purpose. My main PC too powerful for this world, so 3rd PC takes its place for silly testing
Thanks for watching! The only issue is workrooms doesn’t pass the keyboard/mouse input through to the remote PC so you have to be close enough for your input devices to reach the machine you’re mirroring. Virtual desktop dost this, other apps really need to catch up. Personally if I’m sitting right in front of my Mac then it’s hard to stay virtual. Let me know if you like it!
No that was just the recording I noticed that too. I didn’t see that. Im thinking it has something to do with the refresh rate of the recording being 30fps and the headset running 90fps so the recording is missing frames when I move too quickly.
virtual desktop is by far the best screen app... i use it everyday for work... the only issue i see is the lack of multi monitors which they said it is coming pretty soon... anyway, the best one so far to have as a floating display
Thanks mate great review. There's a lot of apple fan boys here, knocking it Q3 but for 500 bucks that's a really great experience for additional productivity also AVP don't have TH-cam or netflix yet which is a deal breaker.
Thanks for watching. It’s VERY Nuanced. I think those rooting for the AVP are missing the point of these videos honestly. I’ll probably do a full talk on it on this channel.
@@TrevorFosterTheFosterDojo I haven’t played Walkabout Golf. I have a back log 😅. But for multiplayer I’m looking forward to Contractors Showdown (to re-live my old COD days) but walkabout is probably refreshing non shooter! Looking forward to some multiplayer we’ll get after it soon enough!
In the quick menu (the one that pops up when you click the battery on the bottom left of the bar) there is a square that says “Bluetooth |Devices” tap that. Then you’ll have to add your Bluetooth keyboard or mouse just like you would with a laptop. Set your device to pair, on the headset add a device and find it in the list to connect. Unfortunately I can’t record that. I tried and the quest record feature doesn’t show the details I guess it’s a security thing. Let me know if you get it done!
Great Video. Many people don't know how well the Quest 3 can do "Spatial Computing" in its own way. it may not be the same UI. but the new UI is coming in an update soon. The only thing really lacking in the quest three, is eye tracking, and a persona for using facetime features with the headset on, and of course a seamless apple ecosystem integration although that also may be achievable in the not to distant future.
The AVP is a tech marvel. I feel like it just wasn’t ready for mass consumption. The future looks bright! A well put together hmd from Apple at a reasonable price will be ‘game changing’ (as over used as that phrase may be lol)
And the screen resolution. And… all the other things. The Quest 3 is so good for the price. But it’s a really subpar experience. I tried so many VR desktops in mine, they’re all terrible.
Resolution and eye tracking is the only thing. VP is no better than quest in other aspects. If Meta just spends some time working on UI and visual fixes @@James-lw3gi
@@James-lw3gi virtual desktop is crispy AF for me. I think network settings and bitrate make a huge difference. But once you’ve seen the AVP perhaps there’s no going back. 🤷🏽♂️
Yes. They’re just TH-cam videos in the end. So they should show up in your watch history (if you’ve signed in). Go back to TH-cam on another device and share with friends. They can add it to their watch later list and pull it up in their headset.
Yes! That’s the cool thing about Apple entering this market. They’ll execute stuff like this in updates and it will be smooth AF. Like auto pass through when your hands touch the keyboard or something 👌🏾
Fortunately No. I don’t seem to be prone to motion sickness. I have a buddy that couldn’t even handle playing Pavlov for a few minutes. Everyone is different. One tip I heard is to put a fan in the room directly on you so you can keep your spatial awareness. Also maybe try adjusting the facial interface to its furthest setting out to create more of a vignette like the games do for motion sickness settings. Good luck, some people are able to work through it and get their “VR legs” over time
Great Video! don't know if you tried this already, i see you have the bobo headstrap, but try it with facial interface off it bring another level of spatial computing. Let me know what you think. Me personally i can't go back to using the facial interface like the quest pro.
Thanks!! And Yes! I’ve done that. Actually …go check out the comfort chapter in this video ..near the end. The guys from the Fluid app came up with an attachment. To make it feel like the quest pro. That’s what I’m using now. th-cam.com/video/rR2y7eMAe_I/w-d-xo.html
I am torn between the Metaquest or the Xreal. Atleast till the Metaquest 4/Hololens comes out The Xreal can connect to Android, Mac, Ipad/Iphone, pc, game
No just a Bluetooth keyboard. In the quick settings menu there’s a tile for Bluetooth devices. Add a Bluetooth keyboard just like you would to a pc or laptop.
Man! I missed this one had already filmed and needed to get this one up. I’m doing a vid on it as well. Good call out. Adding this to the pinned comment. Thanks!
Well I can do that same displaying with My 70in duel tv connected to MacMini. With The Apple Version Pro it is spacial multi windows tracking and placing Different desktops throughout the House and Holding it in Space. That Meta is working with computer while the Vision Pro is a portable Computer. Way different!
Hey there! The point here is you can do SIMILAR things with the Quest not the SAME things.. A few things in your comment don’t add up. 1) AVP runs apps and connects to a Mac while Quest 3 runs apps and connects to Mac or PC AVP is as powerful as a computer but still mirrors your MacBook for that experience. AVP (at this point ) only mirrors one computer at a time and other apps simultaneously not multiple desktops as you mentioned. 2) You can place windows around the house with both devices. The AVP can just place multiple types (apps and mirrored Mac) and does it smoother. The point of this video isn’t to say one is better than the other but rather showcase what’s already available on a $500 device. And if spatial computing is something you’re interested in, it’s not behind such a high paywall. Not sure why you mentioned the TV and Mac mini… I think we’re all aware of what’s possible outside of a head mounted display. Thanks for watching!
It's called one is self computing and One is Streaming. Just like the difference of a PS5 playing the game and the Steam Deck streaming the game. One is computing it internally. this is same comparison happened with Ipod Zune or Ipad and Amazon Fire Pad it never did the Same as Apple Ipad or Ipod. Right now with Mac I can Mirror my iPhone or Ipad but I can Screen swap Desktops the entire device also isn't the Same I am virtually running Windows 11 on Mac and I should be able to mirror that to Vision Pro. Soon the Vision Pro could Process an Virtual OS by itself It is a M2 Multi core multiple Mac Processor with a R1 it's a Super computer.@@TheConstruct_VR
it Just doesn't have Applications written for it yet because it's a Brand New Operating System still in Beta. Apple barely booted it up and people are blown away. @@TheConstruct_VR
Yeah that’s fair. I hope and expect it to get better. Just hanging out with the quest until then. Looking forward to a price reduction and feature increase. Even if it means waiting for another generation. I’m totally not against the AVP. This feels like 2007 when the iPhone launched… and look at us now.
On your other point. While the AVp computes without streaming from another device … so does the quest. The AVP is MUCH more powerful but it should be, to your point there’s a crap ton more tech inside. Again I’m not comparing them one to one. It’s more like “hey don’t need a Mac Pro or can you get by with a chrome book” kind of thing. The differences are clear.
Yeah it was definitely an after thought on the quest3. It doesn’t bother me that much in my periphery, but once you’ve seen the AVP without it, you can’t unsee it.
@@TheConstruct_VR I see that you have a mac mini and a sandisk SSD, so we basically have the same setup, I was wondering how the mac's mirroring works and if it can handle editing of 4k and 6k 10 bit files from the SSD as it would work with the HDMI monitor
I don’t generally edit from that drive. The few times that I have edited 4k from it seemed like it got really hot. I don’t take any 6k footage so I can’t speak to that. I use it more so for its portability. The Mac mirroring is just as solid. I could have shown the same process in virtual desktop with the Mac as PC there’s no difference. I am using a tri band router so that 2.4gbps (6ghz) transfer speed makes everything buttery smooth. I’ll share my virtual desktop set ups in the upcoming video
Hey thanks for watching. It doesn't bother you when you're looking at whatever you're working on. Its for sure only made for a quick look at what you're doing before you go back to something immersive. If passthrough is important the Quest 3 aint it!
Honestly Meta has to change the name of the headset lineup. Maybe something like... Meta Quest for gaming focused headset. Meta Space Pro for Productivity/Professional focused headset.
Quest 3 and physical keyboard is Not usable here in germany. We have qwertz Layout and Not qwerty. But meta does not Support it. It is a big fail since months!
You can cast to a chrome cast or cast directly to your iPhone then you can airplay your phone to a screen. You cannot currently airplay into the headset. It I think meta has asked for that support if I’m not mistaken.
There’s no way to pass your keyboard and mouse through with the remote display right? So you still need to be near the pc/mac? That was my experience anyway. I used virtual desktop to finish the edit of this vid.
Exactly, no one is exited to work that way, working directly in my Mac will get the job done 300% faster and much easier, this gadget is not mean to relance the computers, it is basically meant for games and entertainment
Agreed and even devices that were supposedly made for it like the Apple Vision Pro have the same comfort issue. I don’t think this will be truly useful until these devices are small enough and powerful enough to make your laptop or desktop seem inconvenient. Thanks for watching!
i agree dude. dont need to sell both kidney's to have spatial computing. I've been slowly trying to get used to it. spending longer in the virtual office every time and trying to find what suits me.. linking the mouse is a good idea. haven't done that yet.
Facts. The hand gestures are a neat trick but it’s going to take time before that’s a main input option. The mouse made it feel more “productive” rather than just a fancy tech demo. Let me know how it goes. I edited this vid in virtual desktop because my wife needed the office lol
Thank you for doing this. It is a little frustrating to see people talk about how Apple justifies the price because its a "different market" even though the Quest has been able to do all the same things for months before the Vision Pro came out! It is annoying to see the Vision Pro get all the attention when the Quest is a better option for almost everybody and I want to see the VR gaming medium grow so badly.
I don't think anything should even bother you. It's a different demographic. People in this apple ecosystem are going to staying in that ecosystem, price isn't a huge barrier for them. Also rememeber this is just their first interation and they aren't focusing on VR but rather AR. Its important to have competition as it breeds innovation. Anyway the real comparison isnt even the vision pro and quest. Its the vision pro and holo lens 2. As they are trying to capture different markets (and yes different markets) and they're both the same price.
@@Nemo__ the vision pro is barely scraping the surface of being a "new market". everything that can be done on it can be done with a quest 3 plus more, thats the point i am trying to make.
@@xander396 its "new to market", and kind of a moot point. If you were consistent you'd would have said the same when the Oculus first came out. They have to start somewhere and they've polished the basics in the apple way with their ecosystem for their customer base. Its now in our hands (the developers) to see what it can do. Even the Quest is barely scraping the surface, it just has a head start. I can't use mine for productivity cause the warping makes me sick. Not an issue on the Vision pro. I think your main focus is VR gaming, and people using it aren't interested in that. They don't spend money on apple products, computers, laptops for gaming. It's always better to be open minded and see the pros and cons of both and voice what should be worked on hardware-wise next on. Rather than needless frustration.

@@kowboy702 that’s fair “there” could mean different things but so could “glitchy” I don’t see anything glitchy unless I push the quest too far. Fair enough we can agree to disagree. We(consumers) have to be careful not to blindly defend either product. It’s too subjective. 7x price point isn’t justified just by specs for many. But it is for you. The “what do I do with it” needs to be answered for the average consumer. Affordability out paces specs in many markets. That’s what I’m speaking to in the video. And that’s why I’m sharing what the cheaper lower spec headset can do.
Hahaha. I don’t play enough multiplayer games. I’m always on PCVR with it. Definitely going to play some games with community! Thanks for watching bro!
Kudos on using the Bobo head strap I finally figured this out as being (so far) the only type of design that adequately takes the pressure off my face and nose! By fastening the top thingies together with some black cloth tape I had even better comfort and a nice handle - like how insane is it for Meta to not realize how uncomfortable their worthless strap AND their "Elite" (criminally overpriced) headset is ? Are they just trying to sucker us in so we are then forced to spring for their overpriced add-ons? Indeed. Sony had it figured out, hell maybe hardhat makers knew as much lol. Worried about people's hair or..?
Yeah Bobo got it right. Headsets should feel like a heavy hat not a facial torture device. The pro straps are weak in comparison on all fronts. I have one unfortunately because the Bobo was back ordered for so long. I caved. But to answer your question... YES lol. Meta also sells an $80 usb c cable for PC link. it's clearly a cash grab. I don't think they're trying to hide it at this point.
@@TheConstruct_VR I don't currently own a Quest 3 but am looking to buy one very soon, and I plan on using Horizon workrooms, so a in depth video about that would be very appreciated!
Apple Vision Pro is way better than Quest 3 in everything (in my opinion), except Vision Pro is heavier and has a battery attached to a cable. I highly recommend anyone to test Apple Vision Pro and Quest 3 for 14 days and take your own conclusions. You can return both devices in 14 days and get full refund. Testing a home is much better than at a store. If you don't like it just return.
Only 2 things AVP is strictly better is extremely expensive Sony micro oled displays, and eye tracking. Yes technically it also have powerful CPU, but they doing nothing with it. Realistically only practical thing you can do in AVP - sitting and watching movies. At least you can use Quest for standalone and PC VR games.
@@aimmlegate I understand that, AVP is pricy yes, but is better, second generation will be even better, and hope they will have controller joystick for games
@@SamuelProcopio “better” is to abstract terms, better for what? Yes AVP has much more faster CPU/GPU and far superior screens but practically right now only things you can practically do in this thing is watch videos, open multiple browser windows, and stream MacBook display and only one. Yes for this cases it’s a lot better. Should you spend 3500$ for this, I don’t know. I certainly wouldn’t. It has potential, but for time when cheaper versions will be available, meta will release quest 4 or 5 with same micro oleds.
@@aimmlegate Hello, "better" I meant in the quality of screen, resolution, better fit in the face with a customized light seal, it feel more comfortable, using only hands and eyes to control is very easy and practical, AVP second Gen needs to be lighter, battery inside, and an optional joystick for games. Quest 3 is cheaper, but it is poor in the quality, the hands gestures doesn't work well you need the joystick for everything, AVP is new yet but soon but soon they will release more apps and games, Quest 4 needs to have better resolution screen, comfortable light seal, more comfortable loop band, eye track and better hand track, and specially a button on the device to recenter the screen so ww don't want to press on controller all the time
I go out of my way to not say the Quest 3 is “better.” I have video coming this week on this issue I keep seeing in the comments (may record it today if I can) Thanks for watching!
I like my q3 but was pretty baffled by how poor their UI is, it's like they did not use the damn thing day in a and day out , or thought we were quite unimaginative as consumers - so few icon slots at the bottom like bare minimum have FB messenger always there! Or are they afraid folks won't use Meta worlds ? I mean integrate your own messages with your experiences while your at it Meta! Baffling, where did the billions go? Lots of chaff in the free movies and VR animations too, and no way to easily find or sort it, no way to folderize or organize my downloaded apps and games the way I want, not to mention in some novel 3d way - baffling!
Curious what’s “real computing” in your opinion? like professional work? The virtual screens are sharp/clear enough for most normal tasks in my opinion. With that said.. are they color accurate and all that? Probably not. I think comfort is the biggest issue right now for both headsets no matter how clear it just feels strange doing deep work in ski goggles.
I will tell you, it can't, simply because the pass through of the quest 3 is extremely bad, it lacks of quality, detail, it's grainy, it's like watching a video of a cellphone of 2005
Yeah. It is pretty bad but that doesn’t bother me as much. Clear pass through isn’t all there is to spatial computing. The pass through on the AVP was much clearer but still looked like looking through a screen. As long as whatever I’m working on is clear I’m good.
I find myself only using passthrough on the AVP for basic things like grab a drink carefully, it's was ok at depth and quest 3 is also decent at depth. But the overall quality just is sad on both devices. AVP feels like I'm inside of a VHS home video when I walk around with it on and the Quest 3 well yeah you already know haha. But for computing like you said, its just not something most people would wanna do if you were just to have your monitor right there. @@TheConstruct_VR
Yes yet they had to make tradeoffs and no doubt it's a great way to give us a taste for how awesome even this low quality one can be before the next headset features a much better one for little effort in their part, which will guarantee instant buyers. Just not having to remove the headset for many tasks is huge though with my Bobo I can sorta swing the headset up and see in detail for finer tasks - though the risk of smudge in the screen is real.
Quest 3 is a toy , Vision Pro is a powerful computer and a toy , and an awesome 3D video recorder , and has a super hi resolution screen. You want a toy buy quest 3.
i mean, what is a toy if not something full of gimmicks? the quest 3 was designed to be a gaming console, so it's as much a toy as say, an xbox. the quest 3 and vision pro were both designed for totally different things, it just so happens that there's some overlap - some of the things the vision pro can do, the quest 3 can as well. obviously the things the quest 3 can do are limited/lower quality, both because of the lower price and the fact that again, the quest 3 wasn't designed for "office work" in mind. but i'd much rather something that functions and can play games for $500 than something that's realistically, not very useful in this day and age, for 7 times the price.
You seem to say “toy” like it’s a bad thing. People like toys. 🤷🏽♂️. But yeah the two devices are different. AVP is really a minimal viable product to showcase what’s possible. I look forward to what’s to come
It's not spatial computing, it's AR, augmented reality, apple just renamed something that already exists like they always do, so they seem special, don't get it twisted.
They didn’t really invent the phrase Spatial Computing (google it for a bit you’ll see it goes back before Apple mentions it) and yeah we’re achieving it through AR. And you’re right.. Apple is known for this type of thing. Like how Air Drop is just Bluetooth File Sharing with a fancy name. They’re not going to stop.
If find anything please share:)
i didnt realise until the end that you only have 234 subscribers! you earned my sub

exactly... totally subbed

Thanks for the kind words!!! I’m just going to stay focused on solid videos everything else will follow. 🤜🤛
Thanks for watching!
good vid bro, really informative.
Thanks for watching!
Clear, easy and informative. Great video
Thanks!
@@ralexand56
Lying is pushing it a bit far. I’m showing not lying. Perhaps I should have said functions instead of experiences.
I’ll do a video on it because we’ll be all day in these comments. The points I’m making here are along lines of, “hey I know you want a Lamborghini but Hondas are nice too” It’s not dishonest to show that a cheaper less powerful thing exists with similar (but not all) features
$3500 is a lot of money for most people.
I’m going to do a deep dive into those other two. I wasn’t on my stongest network when I tried Immersed and had a bad experience I need to revisit it
Workrooms blew my mind. The features have matured since 2021! just dropped the video!
I recommend immersed
I need to give it another shot. I was using it on my less than optimal network so my experience was horrible. That’s why I skipped it in this one. I’ll revisit it
What head strap is that? been looking for one like that with more support and a removable battery (magnetic I assume) on the back. I've seen lots for Quest 2 but I haven't seen anything like that for the quest 3. Can you drop a link?
Link is in the description! The bobo m3 it’s super comfortable highly recommend
if you disable wifi + Bluetooth and use usb keyboard / mouse and network via dongle you can extend your battery life also charge your quest 3
Hi! great video,
i wonder will you consider to use this as daily driver for work, especially coding, how long you can wear it without issue to your comfort?
Thanks for watching! With a
Proper 3rd party headset it can get super comfortable.
VERY good content sir !. Quality channel. Keep up the great work. Instant subscribe click.

@@TheConstruct_VR Thank you. I will check out Fluid for sure.
As for headaches you MUST get an after market head strap like the Kiwi design one I recently reviewed here or the bobo vr m3 ( this is not a sponsored response in any way lol)
With the right head strap it’s comfortable enough for a few hours.
(Check out the Immersed video)
There are standalone apps (I mention Fluid in this video) that don’t require a connection to a Pc or Mac but then you won’t have your favorite editor to code in as they are purely browser based, but you can get some light work and heavy entertainment set up with virtually no effort.
I’m doing a deep dive of Fluid later next week (Wednesday ish I hope) I had a chance to talk with the developer so stay tuned for that. Their focus is being a fast solution without the need of a connected machine.
Hope this helps, Cheers!
how did you set your pass through looks so clear mine doesnt look that way ?? thanks
It looks clearer in the recording than through the headset. I had a lot of daylight in the room. The brighter it is in the room the better it looks.
👌👌

Great video man
Hey, nice video !
Add 00:00 timecode to enable chapters. Thank you

@@TheConstruct_VRI am very pleased to read this :-)
How can you stream Netflix with Virtual Desktop? What resolution do you get?
Well you’re streaming your PC or Mac so it’s just a web browser instance of Netflix. It’s much better than the app that’s currently available. virtual desktop has a lot of tweaks so I’m sure you can get it to look as good as 4k. I’m organizing a video on it as we speak I’ll include all my setups. Honestly if I can’t see any pixels I’m happy
@@TheConstruct_VR Are you able to watch Hulu, Disney+, MAX, etc. using the web browser in virtual desktop?
@@Cam-ep7vt yes anything that will play on your PC or Mac will work

I noticed a lot of flickering on the mouse cursor, is that something you see in the headset?
No that was just the recording I noticed that too. I didn’t see that. Im thinking it has something to do with the refresh rate of the recording being 30fps and the headset running 90fps so the recording is missing frames when I move too quickly.
virtual desktop is by far the best screen app... i use it everyday for work... the only issue i see is the lack of multi monitors which they said it is coming pretty soon... anyway, the best one so far to have as a floating display
Agreed!

Can you do a video on the quest link cable? Vritual desktop has way less latency with hard wire.
Yep will do. There’s a lot of nuance to get things working just right. I’ll share how I get virtual desktop wireless working so smoothly.
I am new to this. Could you please tell me how you can connect the mouse ?
In the quick menu (the one that pops up when you click the battery on the bottom left of the bar) there is a square that says “Bluetooth |Devices” tap that. Then you’ll have to add your Bluetooth keyboard or mouse just like you would with a laptop. Set your device to pair, on the headset add a device and find it in the list to connect.
Unfortunately I can’t record that. I tried and the quest record feature doesn’t show the details I guess it’s a security thing. Let me know if you get it done!
Excellent video!
Thanks for watching!
For older models I think head tracking would feel like 85% of the eye tracking experience .

How can I share TH-camVR videos with another person (via Email link)?
Yes. They’re just TH-cam videos in the end. So they should show up in your watch history (if you’ve signed in). Go back to TH-cam on another device and share with friends. They can add it to their watch later list and pull it up in their headset.
5:45 Vision Pro needs to implement this ASAP!!!!
Yes! That’s the cool thing about Apple entering this market. They’ll execute stuff like this in updates and it will be smooth AF. Like auto pass through when your hands touch the keyboard or something 👌🏾
Hey dude, have you gotten sick at all using the Quest 3?
Fortunately No. I don’t seem to be prone to motion sickness. I have a buddy that couldn’t even handle playing Pavlov for a few minutes. Everyone is different. One tip I heard is to put a fan in the room directly on you so you can keep your spatial awareness.
Also maybe try adjusting the facial interface to its furthest setting out to create more of a vignette like the games do for motion sickness settings. Good luck, some people are able to work through it and get their “VR legs” over time

1) AVP runs apps and connects to a Mac while Quest 3 runs apps and connects to Mac or PC
AVP is as powerful as a computer but still mirrors your MacBook for that experience.
I just can't get over the warping of the image over hand occlusion on the quest.
Yeah it was definitely an after thought on the quest3. It doesn’t bother me that much in my periphery, but once you’ve seen the AVP without it, you can’t unsee it.
Is this also on pico 4?
Yep! I do know there were some options in the settings of virtual desktop for Pico. I don’t have one
Good video bro
The last one looks better than I thought quest 3 was capable of
Virtual desktop is SOOOO good. Respect to the app itself though. I was using it on quest 2. Your PC and network make the most of it.

Honestly Meta has to change the name of the headset lineup.
Maybe something like...
Meta Quest for gaming focused headset.
Meta Space Pro for Productivity/Professional focused headset.
I think they wanted to have this separation but they released too far apart. If they had launched together it would have been more clear I think.

Virtual desktop is cool but it introduces latency that the Meta Virtual Display doesn't have - even with Ethernet.

Same. We have those laser virtual keyboards that shine one on a table. The is would add more “stuff” in the headset though.
I've got virtual desktop but I only use it in Mixed Reality mode didn't even know it had environments like that lool
I find staying fully immersed is a bit easier on the eyes because the pass through noise can be a bit harsh
❤
well, now you can make floating windows just like vision pro
Yeah that changed back in Version 67 You should see this app too
VisionOS on Quest 3? Introducing The Spatial App

If the VP isn’t there yet, neither is the quest, with a 7 year head start
I was talking about cost to value ratio not technical specifications. The Quest is definitely there.
@@TheConstruct_VR it’s super glitchy and only really works well with games. I don’t share that “there” conclusion without even considering the technical specs.
Aye when are we playing some ping pong on the quest? I almost bought the whole meta store i need like 9 more games to have them all 😂
Meta Horizon Workrooms?
Yeah There’s a bunch I didn’t cover. Trying not to make 20min videos. Going to do a stand alone video on it. Do you use it?
@@TheConstruct_VR I don't currently own a Quest 3 but am looking to buy one very soon, and I plan on using Horizon workrooms, so a in depth video about that would be very appreciated!
@@bduwjww2626 will do! I’m a software engineer I’ll be looking at it objectively for real use cases
@@TheConstruct_VR Awesome!
Hey just droped that deep dive video on Workrooms today! Check it out. There's plenty reason to give it a shot!
Good content. Sub.
Quest 3 is cheaper, but it is poor in the quality, the hands gestures doesn't work well you need the joystick for everything, AVP is new yet but soon but soon they will release more apps and games, Quest 4 needs to have better resolution screen, comfortable light seal, more comfortable loop band, eye track and better hand track, and specially a button on the device to recenter the screen so ww don't want to press on controller all the time
I go out of my way to not say the Quest 3 is “better.” I have video coming this week on this issue I keep seeing in the comments (may record it today if I can)
Thanks for watching!
The warping is making me sick.
I don't really pay much attention to it if I'm using an app. But I do hope they figure out how NOT to do this in future iterations for sure.
I'm looking forward to the rumored "updates" they're making. I just hope they don't make it worse.
When did Jarule get smart??? What is tthis???👈😠
Hahaha I actually laughed out loud! 😅
Yeah man I can’t get away from it. I’ve been stopped in public before 🤷🏽♂️ Thanks for clicking though 👊🏽
I thought this was Ja rule for a second
😅🤷🏽♂️
Realistically the screen just is way too bad to do any real computing.
Ja rule?
😆🤫
I will tell you, it can't, simply because the pass through of the quest 3 is extremely bad, it lacks of quality, detail, it's grainy, it's like watching a video of a cellphone of 2005
Yeah. It is pretty bad but that doesn’t bother me as much. Clear pass through isn’t all there is to spatial computing. The pass through on the AVP was much clearer but still looked like looking through a screen. As long as whatever I’m working on is clear I’m good.
Quest 3 makes you legally blind while the AVP makes you just barley legal if still legally blind for lots of tasks. Both are not up to par yet.
@@Killswitch1411 hahaha true. Comfort and eye strain are big factors in doing any computing like this.
No
Lol. thanks for stopping by.
No, it cannot. Next ?
Lol. Thanks for stopping by!
I look forward to what’s to come
@@TheConstruct_VRquest pro 2 will bring “spatial computing” to the masses. Then apple will hit back with their non-Pro Vision model.
